Agree with previous subscriber , haciendas dominicus is much better, although this one is good.Grounds are immaculate with peacocks , flamingos and koi carp ponds.Rooms are dated but they have everything you need including a stocked free bar,and really how much time do you spend in your room when your on a carribean island .Pool is massive plenty of sun beds but we prefer to use beach but as other people said too windy to sit in afternoon. There is an area to use between pool & beach which allows a slight breeze and is very quietThe vendors on the beach weren't to bad,a polite no seemed to do the trick with us,.Food in buffet we thought was very good with the al a cartes ok.Most staff very friendly especially the waiters in buffet ,bar staff hit & miss cleaning staff brilliant. The issues , as other people have said are at the weekend when it is flooded with locals. After speaking with people we met on trips it happens at most hotels. If it bothers you plan trips on saturday , eat late and at all costs stay away from the pool(they won't use the beach). To be honest it didn't bother us, its basically only for the saturday.Went on 3 excursions ,the best being waterfall/zip wire(don't buy the dvds there crap and thats being kindThis is our 5th time in dominican and 2nd best hotel ,Staff need ti enforce the rules of no wet clothes and wearing of shirts in reception and lobby bar as the floor turns into a skate rink.)POINTS TO PONDER.(1)Why do dominican men wear vests in the swimming pool but insist of going bare chested when they enter the bar?(2)Why use the swim up bar when people sit there for hours drinking vast quantities of alcohol but never leave to use the toilet?(3)why would i pay more in the spa than i do at home.W.ont go again but really enjoyed our stay.PS entertainment staff were amazing,

Room Tip: pick block 5 , views over garden and away from pools and entertainment

We stayed here in Feb 2014, the room was comfortable and spacious but our block was let down by the view (we looked out into the other hotel's kitchen). I regret not asking to change it as I am sure the staff would have obliged.

The service was fantastic, at dinner we were taken to our table by the same waiter, our glasses never empty and found the food to be of a good standard, especially the sea food. A little tipping goes a long way and you are well looked after.

The atmosphere was family friendly but relaxed, you could get involved if you wanted to or, like us, just sit and chill. Getting a bed by the pool was not a problem.

I really enjoyed the evenings here, the entertainment was a little cheesy (the lion king was very good) but good fun and the grounds are beautiful of a nighttime. The drink selection is of a good standard with the margaritas nearly causing me to sleep in a bush one night.

We did the outback safari and I would recommend this as very worth while.

I would really recommend this hotel and will look to go back without a doubt. For the money we paid it was exceptional value.

Stayed: February 2014

I travelled to this property in July 2014 with my family and it was a super great value for the price. My 5 year old son had a great time. The variety and freshness of the food was awesome. The only draw back was the beach - the wind is intense, and there's always someone trying to solicit you.

The property was very nice and the beach was beautiful. The rooms are fine. They are clean and stocked with complementary bottles water and soda. However, the rooms are pretty dated, but it wasn't a big deal as we were only in the room to sleep. The only issue with the beach is the constant swarm of vendors trying to sell you excursions and other items. You haven't put one foot on the beach before you are solicited. There really isn't anything the hotel can do about it, as they don't own the beach.

The pool was large and very pretty. However the temperature of the water was not refreshing, it was way too hot, like bath water. During the day the pool is very busy with games, music, etc. If you're looking for peace and quiet, avoid the pool.

I thought the food was pretty good, plenty of options. I have to eat a gluten free diet and there were plenty of options. For dinner, in addition to the buffet they have specialty restaurants on site, (which are part of the all inclusive). You have to make a reservation, but we'll worth it. We went to the Brazilian steakhouse one night and it was great!

We went on 1 excursion. We went to the Monkey Jungle and went zip lining. I highly recommend it, it was awesome!

The resort is nice but you can feel a little "trapped" as it's really not safe to go off and explore the area by yourself.

Room Tip: Go with building 1, right near the beach.

Hotel is very scenic, beautiful mountain view. Gardens ,statues,.and ponds around the property. Workers are very friendly, many speak several languages. Food very good. Mostly buffets, even ala cartes have only the main course delivered to your table. We ate at the Mexican twice and Brazilian once. Pool is big and yes-people save their spots early in the morning. The beach is very windy, especially as the day goes on. Having sand blown in your eyes gets old pretty quickly. The sea was much nicer in Punta Cana, but then you have the mountain to admire here .We took a taxi to the cable car and the 27 waterfalls. And did excursions to Paradise Island and the dune buggys. Merchants were very eager for you to buy souviners from them. Very pushy at times . We were there from Monday to Saturday morning, So we missed the locals who take over the resort on the weekends. Would go back Only do the waterfall tour if your in great shape, The walk there was about and hour, and its mostly up hill and climbing stairs. Then you have to slide and jump off the cliffs. Very fun Was there for my birthday, and they sent me a cake and a rose. Thanks Iberostar

had a great flight on the thomson 787 dreamliner, we went premier club and was worth every penny extra. short trip to the resort but check in was far too long and i guess there was a lot of locals checking out and they dont do queing but butt in when everybody else is trying to check in. the only other gripe was the mozzies, we were both bitten quite a lot yet i did not see anybody spraying where as other resorts they do. the pool was very big and always plenty of sunbeds and shade. the food was very good a lot of choice to cater for everyone. the staff are ALL very friendly and special thanks to frank, yorki and nelson. the beach was ok, a lot of seaweed and come around 11.00am it was very windy blowing a lot of sand around, not sure if this was because of the time of year? the drink selection was good especially the champagne with cherrys in. the local vendors on the beach were not a problem and did not really pester you. the hotel has a local cat which burst our lilo but no big deal, there are peacocks who could be a bit noisy early in the morning, they also have a pond with flamingos in, ducks 2 turtles and a cute baby turtle. did see a couple of humming birds and a lot of woodpeckers. the weather was around 30 everyday hardly any rain and cloudy most days but still came back with a nice tan. our second week was special as our friends from america who we met in dom rep 2 years ago joined us. we would not hesitate to go back and would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: all rooms are good but you will have to pay extra for sea view rooms
