I give this apartment a 4 star review based on budget considerations. If you are looking for top end beds, nice artwork on the walls, silk sheets and oversize comfy couches you are going to find this review to be wrong.
I rented this unit for the entire month of February 2018.
The property manager Alberto is a wonderful man he is very close by and takes care of your needs and concerns in a timely manner. His english is passable but not fluent. Google Translate helps here. I give his service 5 stars.
The apartment is clean and well maintained with a small kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a living room, one small three piece bathroom and a small porch out front. Each bedroom has a lockable closet. One bedroom has a queen size bed and the other has two singles. The beds are comfortable with average quality mattresses. There are plenty of sheets for the beds and lots of towels. 4 stars in this area.
The apartment is on what I consider to be an alley with a lot of traffic and it is quite loud most of the day. The street is definitely not in a high end neighborhood but has friendly neighbors and I felt very safe outside of the apartment. I rate this as 2.5 stars.
Equipment in the apartment is sparse. There is a small 4 burner propane stove that has virtually no adjustment on flame size. The refrigerator is mid size but is very noisy and it seems to run a lot. A new coffee maker (cone filter style) and a blender make up the small appliances. There is a 19” television in one bedroom that can't be relocated. It has cable with a lot of channels mostly spanish. It has a HDMI port that doesn't seem to work properly it cycles from picture to blue screen about every minute. The cookware is poor and cooking utensils are missing. I bought a new frying pan 2 knives a spatula and a couple of other utensils that I needed to prepare meals. I am leaving them here so they might be here for the next visitor. There is no hot water to the faucets except for the shower but you have to turn on the hot water heater 20 minutes before you want to have a shower. Doing dishes requires you to boil water on the stove first. 3 stars in this area.
The pool is clean and well maintained although it is not heated so in February it was cool. It is over 6 feet in the deep end and has very little shallow water, not ideal for kids that don't swim well. The Jacuzzi works and is controlled by a switch, no timer. The back yard is a decent size but could use some attention to landscaping. There is a covered car port behind a locked gate. As I didn't have a car it was an ideal place for the patio table to keep it out of the sun. There is one lounge chair and 8 plastic patio chairs. There is a BBQ that uses charcoal briquettes made out of a beer keg, but no BBQ tools. 4 stars for the outdoor area.
There is a washing machine for laundry. It is semi automatic but isn't hooked up to a water supply. You have to fill it with a garden hose. It's small so you can't do much per load. Drying you clothes requires you to hang them on the clothes line.
Overall good value for the money if you are on a budget. The apartment is within walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars. The grocery store is half a kilometer away and there is a liquor store at the end of the street.
you are 1 block from the beach or just steps to your private pool. everything within walking distances, stores, restaurants, nightclubs. the manager Alberto is fantastic, lives down the street so quickly response time. I keep coming back. It is more relaxing than a resort.
I was keeping this rental a secrete but I feel others should share the enjoyment I have.
