Can't think of a better name for this property - a great place to chill. Made this part of a group beach bar crawl and everyone raved over Soles (pronounced, "sol-lahs"). Set back off the surf but still firmly in the sand, the first thing you see from the beach are palms, the plush beach beds and furniture and the quaint bar front. You have three great choices: sitting in full sun on comfortable beach beds and ottomans; sitting behind these at nice round wooden tables with umbrellas; or at tables in the back fully shaded by palm trees. You could stay all day and move in and out seeking the most comfortable environment.
The menu was varied and featured many local items. The grilled fish was simple yet well-prepared and very flavorful. The meat empanadas were also very tasty and a bargain. In fact, the entire menu was extremely reasonable with several ample and delicious items under $10. Beer started at 125 pesos ($3, roughly) and a cocktail glass about half full of local anejo rum for a few pesos more. Service was relaxed, yet prompt and friendly just as it should be considering the environment.
The entire experience was delightful and well worth the walk. The atmosphere was laid-back yet upscale, and the setting and beach view wonderful. A perfect beach bar.
