Our Tui rep actually messed up our booking... they wrote down an early pick up time, so me and my family got up and ready, waiting to be picked up with a very excited child. Turns out we had been booked in for later in the afternoon despite what was on our paperwork. We already had plans for the afternoon and had made the effort to get up and ready so we were extremely unimpressed. We stormed down to the office to see if our rep was there, and the driver/tour guide for Runner's Adventures came after us and rang around their office to see if they could get us on their trip. Luckily they succeeded and we all got to go (thank you SO much for fixing our rep's mistake).

You drive through a Dominican village and get to see how they all really live, which is very interesting (quick note though, there are pigs being skinned at the side of the road, in case you or anyone you are with are sensitive to this). When you get there, they give you a quick talk on what not to do etc, and then you get straight in to see the monkeys! You're handed a bowl of fruit each which is what brings them all over. Not one person was left out, you will DEFINITELY have a good few monkeys jump on you, so well worth the money! You have the option to buy photos from them after (I think it was $10 per photo).

After that they took us to another place where we learned about how they make coconut oil, coffee, chocolate etc... and you get to sample some of it. You then go take a seat in a shaded area where they hand out little 'shots' of their coffee, hot chocolate, and Mama Juana. There's also bits you can buy from them after (priced in dollars but they were happy to take Peso). There's also these little coconut desserts that are free for everyone and are DELICIOUS (kind of taste like carrot cake icing... yum!).

Overall, a fantastic day with lovely staff that had us laughing.

This place was ammazzzing and we had a extremely nice, funny, informative tour guide named Amado and the bus driver was very good at avoiding all the gaps in the road and he he was pretty funny too although he didn't talk much since he didn't know too much English his name was francisco.

We have never found an excursion that all four of our family members (we and our 16 and 21 year old children) all enjoyed so much! We packaged this with the zip lining tour (also quite fun). The facility is quite careful for the monkeys (wild!) health and safety - no sunscreen, no bug repellent, though neither were needed), everyone cleans their hands and feet with antimicrobial washes, and those with colds are asked not to participate. No pettign either, as this gesture scares the (wild) monkeys. Once in the monkey's living areas, you are told to stand still (to avoid stepping on tails), and a bowl of fruit and sunflower seeds is given to everyone. At this point the fun begins, as the little (less than two pounds / 1 kilo) monkeys start to emerge. They will jump on your shoulders and head, and eat from the bowl in your hand or from your hand itself. They are so lithe and lightweight that you'll barely feel them on you as they gently eat. Even when out of food they are fun to watch as they interact. This activity is a blast for people of all ages, even little kids, and is completely non-exploitive. One thing to keep in mind - one of the people in our party was pooped on (his shirt), but this was more hilarious than gross (he was a great sport about it).

Me and my family stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe and were picked up on time for our trip to Monkey Land. We were picked up on time by PJ and Orlando the driver. During our ride to the monkeys, my little sister got bad motion sickness and was throwing up. PJ and Orlando took such good care of her and made sure they stopped and gave her water and cold compresses when she wasn’t feeling good. PJ was very funny and accommodating, made everyone feel very welcome and excited for the monkeys. I would definitely recommend doing this activity with your family! It was the best experience I’ve ever had in my life. The monkeys were super adorable and the trainer who took our pictures was nice and made sure you got everything you wanted out of the experience.

We was picked up on time by Maximo and the driver Russell. Maximo kept us entertained all the way to the park which was an hour drive from our hotel in la romana. Zip lining was fun and exciting and also challenging in the heat. We then saw a traditional Dominican house and was shown how to make coffee and chocolate, this was very educational and interesting. We then had a traditional Dominican lunch which was lovely and you could have as much as you like. After this we got the bus to monkey land about 5 minutes drive. This was the best pet of the trip without a doubt, the monkeys are extremely friendly and photogenic. They jump all over you and you can pet them gently. It was an experience I will never forget. We then got the bus back to our hotel with our guide. I would like to say a massive thank you to Maximo who was an amazing guide. He was so much fun and very informative. He does the Dominican people proud and was the perfect host. Would definitely recommend this tour.
