Absolutely a fabulous vacation. Stayed in the Golden five star section next to pool and beach. Special priveleges included an upgrade from buffet dinners to restaurant every night. Fabulous pool, beach, activities, staff, food, atmosphere, room. CAn't wait to go back.

Me and my partner stayed for 2 weeks in may 09 and it was brilliant, our room faced the pool and we were placed in the right area in reach of all the resturants, pools and beach, our room was cleaned every day and the mini bar was always well stocked,we did a couple of trips which were very good value for money, the jeep safari and sohona island are well worth going on,even though the resort is huge you do not get lost and there are trams that run all day and into the early hours of the morning to take you from one end of the resort to the other, the weather was very hot but it did throw it down with rain at nite but it was still warm and it was always hot and dry afterwards ready for the next day,if you want to tip the waiting staff and bar staff feel free too but they do not expect it but they do work hard and do a good job and were always friendly,we could not fault this holiday in anyway and we will be going back in the near future but not next year as booked to go to montego bay in jamaica, finally anyone who books this resort will not be disappointed.

This place was wonderful except for the food situation. Bring your own food and ice. The grounds are beautiful, the beach is magnificent and the other people there are very interesting to talk to. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our time there were sick from the food. She is better now two weeks after returning but I am still sick. And brush up on your spanish bc almost no one even understands english.

I just returned from a ten day stay. It was amazing, what a wonderful place! The beach is great, the facilities are beautiful, impeccable. Everyone working at this hotel went out of their way to help you in any way you may need. I highly recommend and would definately go back!!

My family and I stayed for a week. Hotel is a megaresort that has really nice installations, but the fact that it is too big leads to hotel staff service deficiencies and gives the whole place a sense of miscommunication. I will write my review in a pros and cons style so you decide if the cons outweigh the pros or not:

Pros:
Beautiful beach that extends for miles on each direction - Nice swimming pool - Nice Room (Junior suite) - Three out of 7 night shows were really good - Food was really good in the main buffet restaurant.

Cons:
- Too big, regardless where your room is you will always be far from something, either the restaurants or the beach.
- Staff service is mediocre, lacks eagerness to help, you always get a feeling that they are doing you a favor
- Non motororized water activities lack equipment; there was only 5 kayaks and a few snorkel masks for at least 2000 guests that you had to reserve and wait to use.
-If you stay 7 nights you only get 3 reservations for "a la carte restaurant" dinner. All other 4 nights you get to eat in the main buffet restaurant.
- Only one of the "a la carte" restaurants was really a la carte, the other two restaurants you still had to get up to a buffet bar.
- Make your restaurant reservations as quick as possible. I made them the next day and there was only available reservations on the last three days of my stay.
- They had a problem with bathroom towels. They only left one towel for us, a family of four, and we had to call everyday to have more sent to our room.

This review applies to both the Bahia Principe Punta Cana and Bavaro, which is the same hotel split in two but sharing all the common areas, like theater, pools, beach, restaurants, etc.
Some of the charges that you dont know about until you get there are:
Internet: $15 a day
Safe box: $6 a day ( I highly recommend it, we lost two items that we fail to put in the safe)
Local calls: $.60
Taxi to the closest area with stores and restaurants outside of the resort (cortecito) : $10-$20
Taxi to the closest bigger town (Higuey, pronounced e-WAY) $70 one way, or $90 round trip. If you dont mind using the local transportation bus, they charge $2.50 for the same ride; just make sure you use the small buses, which are actually comfortable and air conditioned for the same price, they are called guagua (pronounced "wawa")

Overall it is a good hotel if you are aware of the staff's limitations in advance and dont mind the other cons.

Arrived 8th July for two all inclusive weeks. 13 out 14 days daytime sunshine perfect !
Huge site, but did not feel clostrophobic. Staff really friendly.
Beaches & Pools were great - great snorkling & water sports
Themed restaurants ok - Main Buffet restaurant the best though.
Had a few tummy problems which is quite common. Take plenty of immodium, as drugs on the resort cost a small fortune.
Room great, very clean, lovely towel artistry, nice touch. mini bar always full.disney type buses always around to jump on to get you from A to B.
Would I go again - Yes !

This resort renewed my faith in traveling to the DR! Our first trip ever was to the Don Juan and it was the worst trip I had ever taken. The difference between the two was night and day!

This resort is paradise, excellent beaches, excellent service, great pool and bars, food was very good especially at the specialty restaurants (try the mexican restaurant). The villas are always clean, and if you don't feel like walking to the beach or the buffet there are busses to cart you around! I would not hesitate to visit this resort again!
