We've traveled the world. Mexico. Hawaii. The Mediterranean. Puerto Rico. Australia. This is HANDS DOWN the BEST resort we've ever stayed at. We paid for the Club Premium package. It was MORE than worth the cost. Champagne while checking in. Rum and champagne waiting for us in our room. Free wireless. Poolside bar open all hours of the day. I recommend the Adults only Premium Club package. We woke up at home so bummed out we weren't still there. We plan on going back in the next few months either alone again or with friends. Invest the money. You will NOT regret it!!!!!!

Room Tip: If you're traveling with only your other half, the ocean view in the adults only area is 100% wo...

Our stay in this resort couldn't get any better. We were welcomed in the resort with a cocktail and we were escorted to our room. The room was very clean, spacious bed, mini bar stacked daily and towels for inside as well as outside. The beach is amazing with many lounge chairs. The food was great, i have no idea why some people were complaining while i was reading the reviews. For breakfast and lunch there is a buffet with various of bread, cheese ,meats, salads, fruit, desserts...etc. For dinner make a reservations, we stayed 5 nights and we made 3 reservation in different restaurants. The restaurants are very nice, upscale with nice service and food. The service and the staff overall was great, of course little Spanish helps because u are in a different country after all, but they know English and some of the staff knows Russian and Italian too. There is a small train that takes u from Bavaro beach to the other Bavaro hotels they are kind a connected and u can use all the facilities from the other Bavaro hotels. There are many entertainments during the day and an evening events too. Many stores, gifts shops, spa and massages, but they are all over priced so the vouchers that we received like 1000 points or something are useless. Be careful with the gift shops because there is no prices on the items u have to bargain, and u better cause u dont wanna spent 17$ on a tea cup. There are many activities that take place outside the resort, we went on a tour, half a day and they took us to the other Caribbean side on a private beach, snorkeling and we had party on the boat, they offered beer and snacks..we had fun. We just came back from DR and i miss it already :-((

This resort is excellent. It is clean and well maintained and the staff is mostly very friendly. The food is excellent for buffet style and there is a HUGE selection so even if you don't like something there is pretty much something you can find to eat that you will like. The one thing I will note is that these people (staff) operate on "island time". Meaning sometimes when you need something or need help, they are incredibly slow and relaxed about it. This can be a bit annoying when you don't want to spend time on your vacation in a guest services office. But this is more a island cultural thing than anything else and doesn't reflect on the hotel itself. Overall, OUTSTANDING trip. Great excursions, great food, great atmosphere, great hotel, great country. It has something for everyone. If you want to be anti social and have 100% "couples" time with your travel companion, then you can do that. If you want to be around people and socialize and explore everything you can do that too. ENJOY.

Room Tip: upgrade for cheap when you arrive!!! Upgrade your room and get the club premium package. well wort...

The resort is beautiful I can say... Luxurious rooms, restaurants, pools, clubs or shops... But the beach is quite dirty in here... And of course - it's a resort, so you can't go far away from it and see the nature. You can pay for some "adventurous" trips but it's not cheap at all :(

Just returned from Barcelo Bavaro Beach this resort is EXCELLENT!!! Bavaro Beach is the adult’s only part of the resort. The resort is extremely clean and well maintained. I am anti-social so did not need to communicate much with the staff however; I suggest learning a little Spanish before going or at least having a translator app on your phone. I know very little Spanish and was able to communicate with the staff to get what I needed. I adjust well to other cultures so I was not offended by things I heard other Americans complaining about. Barcelo Beach is a quiet, laid back atmosphere. They have entertainment on the beach during the day and an evening event at 10pm. The food was good, especially in the restaurants. You must have reservations for dinner at the restaurants but the breakfast/lunch is buffet style and do not need reservations. Make your reservations soon after you check in because the spots fill up fast (FYI: they will try and book you for later times but ask what else do they have at an earlier time until you get something your satisfied with. I don't understand why they hold out on the reservations, when you get to the restaurant there is hardly anybody there). I had a great time and plan on returning again before the end of the year.
Tip: When catching the train from Bavaro Palace deluxe to Bavaro Beach be sure to ask the driver if he is going to Bavaro Beach or you will end up going around the entire resort and back to Bavaro palace deluxe before heading to Bavaro Beach (take the ride if you want to see the property).
If you choose to use Blue Transportation as your transportation company, be advised at the airport they will tell you to meet a Blue representative in the hotel lobby at 9:15am the following day. There will be no representative.. you must go to guest services (anytime when they are open), they are located in the back of guest services (be sure to inquire about their operation hours at check in).

Was there last week in July. This hotel is beautiful, my boyfriend and I had a great trip. I HIGHLY recommend that you do the Club Premium, you will feel like a celebrity. I especially liked the Club Premium breakfast, it is separate from the "mass buffet" and it is more intimate which makes it really nice for a couples trip. There is a smaller food selection, but you and your partner will much more enjoy the time together, in my opinion. The best part of Club Premium was Naomi (i hope i spelled it right), she was friendly and a pleasure. My boyfriend and I missed her the most. She did a fantastic job. If you are doing a couple trip, use this hotel versus the Bavaro Deluxe. When you go over to the Bavaro Deluxe you will see why, it kids running around, and has more of a theme park feel, which in my opinion is not what I wanted for a couples trip. You do have to go over to the Deluxe for the dinners, but that is okay.

I had a great time, and I can't wait to go back!!!!!

Room Tip: Upgrade to beach view club premium

Reason I say do your research is because it really just depends what your looking for. We are in our mid-twenties so we wanted a lot of things. If you want access to all the restaurants, entertainment, but also be able to relax and be able to find a layout chair by the pool and beach then i recommend the Beach hotel. If you want to be where the crowd is at all the time, then Palace is your best bet. I suggest talking to other guests about their experiences. Half the people I met have been there several times and are able to recommend other hotels. As long as my room is clean and i am treated well I am satisfied, others are more picky. It was very hard choosing a hotel based on reviews because everyone is different. Some expect to get treated like kings and queens while on vacation but at the same time they take the "all-inclusive" part very seriously and for example do not tip! I did not have any negative experiences at this hotel. When checking-in they give you a 'guide' to what you do and do not have access and if your not sure then just ask.

-The pool: nice, closes early (6'ish), no swim-up bar, jacuzzi in the middle of the pool but the water is not hot. Towel service, bring your used one & turn it in for a clean one before heading back to your room. Pool tables near by and the buffet is right across from it.
-The beach: lovely, clean, no vendors and always found layout chairs.
-Entertainment: I don't know about the activities during the day by the pool/beach because we always slept in but there is no night entertainment. We went over to the Palace every evening which is a 5-8 minute walk or took the free train from the lobby (runs 'til 4am).
-Buffett: there's 2 at Beach (Caribe & La brisa) the food was good at both but we preferred La brisa and the view was lovely. You can go dress as you'd like but you cannot go topless, meaning you need to have a shirt on. There's 2 other buffets at the Palace you can choose from. We made all of our dinner reservations at the Palace.
-Customer service: The girl at the front desk always answered our questions. They called our room the first & second day to make sure we were pleased. The blow dryer burned by the second night & when i called for them to look at it he came about 20 minutes later. He must've came later that night after to replace it; luckily i had my straightener because I don't think they have any external ones.
-Guest services: open from 8-4pm, this is where you want to make dinner reservations (whether at the Beach or Palace hotel) and also where you can book excursions. Joanna from guest services was great and very helpful. Always made calls for us for the excursions, taxis and golf course.
-Room: clean, stocked, safe deposit box, slippers, bathrobes, hair dryer. We never met our cleaning lady so i'm not sure what time she cleaned the room but it had to be late afternoon. We had the standard room and after inquiring about an ocean-view we decided it would be too much money & since our vacation consisted of excursions we decided to stick to standard, well it was great because we had a view of the beach anyway (room 2077). Mini-bar always had sodas, water, juice, beer and some snacks (complementary).
-Location: airport is about 20 minutes away. It was not far out like other hotels (excellence & hard rock). Don Lucas Cigars is about 10-15 minutes away. The shopping centers are also at a reasonable distance. I think they said the Punta Espada Golf Course was about 30 minutes away.
