My wife and I had an amazing wedding and vacation at Paradisus Punta Cana. We would go back in a second.

The Wedding

We'd like to give a big thank you to the "Romance team" who helped us plan the wedding, especially Jessica and Beatriz. They were very responsive in getting back to our emails and really made everything come together beautifully.

As for the ceremony, had a Catholic ceremony at the Gazebo overlooking the beach. It was beautiful. The only complaint we have is that the area they have for the aisle for the bride to walk down is very short, and kind of steep (it's a small hill). But thankfully everyone made it up the hill without any problems. The Gazebo itself was beautiful and had a great view of the beach. We're so glad we had it there. We're glad we had it at 3pm rather than 5pm...the lighting was just right for the pictures.

The reception was poolside, which was awesome. If any of you readers are thinking of doing the same, we'd strongly suggest making them have the reception in the area closest to the Gabi Beach Club. They tried to put us further away from there and closer to the pool bar, but we argued that it would be too cramped for our party (we had a little over 50 people there), and it definitely would have been. The area closest to Gabi was PERFECT. We brought most of our decorations (centerpieces, candles, lights, etc), which was kind of a pain in the butt while traveling there but saved us a ton of money. We did order the Chinese lanterns, though, which were beautiful. They are expensive but really added to the ambiance. The food, especially the cake, was very good.

Paradisus has its own "preferred" photographers and DJs--Aricefe Studios [photos] and RS Entertainment [DJ]. We were very happy with both. Our photographer, Alvaro, did a great job, and our DJ and MC--unfortunately I dont remember their names--were awesome.

Because we were the wedding couple, we got upgraded to the Royal Service at the hotel, which gets you a slightly fancier room, nice food treats and alcohol, and a butler. The room was okay--kind of small and little room for storage--but the butler was great and really came through for us on the day of the wedding (Hola Juan! Gracias amigo!). I'd also like to say hi to another butler I met while there--Wilkin. Great guy. Thinking of you buddy!

The Hotel

Wow, what can I say about Paradisus. It was HUGE and immaculately maintained. Easily the most beautiful resort I've ever stayed at. The grounds are spectacular, the beach is AMAZING, the staff is very nice and helpful, the food was good, and the nightly entertainment was surprisingly good. I have a couple of minor suggestions for the resort: 1) since it is so large, run more shuttles.. we had to wait a long time to get anywhere. 2) make sure that the doors inside the rooms (closets, balcony) work...ours kept popping off of the tracks, making it a pain to use. My final tip is for beachgoers--dont sign up for the dune buggy excursion... they basically take you from tourist trap to tourist trap. It wasn't very fun.

Anyway, that's all i've got. We had a great time and would go back in a second.

Room Tip: It's not worth upgrading to the Royal Service. We hardly used our butler, and the rooms were no...

the resort is just great in every sense: huge area, gigantic pools, enormous rooms, neat and vast park but most of all: friendly and helpful people everywhere. you start wondering, how these guys manage to keep all of the staff so exceptionally happy 24/7. especially our concierges leidy, sandra and silvio and one of our waiters frank. they literally live up to make every wish come true.
we (a group of nine w/kids and grandparents) had a wonderful week there or to put it in the spanish term we picked up: excellente!
the only little remark we have is that the room doors could have a little softer closing mechanism and thus be a little less noisy but that didn't harm our great stay at all.

We just returned from our first trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Loved, loved, loved it.

At first, we were overwhelmed with the large resort as we are used to smaller. It didn't take us any time to fall in love with it. You can walk where ever you want to go or a shuttle ride. They even have bikes you can use.

The room we had smelled a little damp. Arriving with a sinus infection, the smell was a turn off. We had a new room within 10 minutes. Come to find out, that's just the way the Dominican Republic is. No worries, they come every day to clean your room and freshen it up with a wonderful smell. I was delighted. I've been to other countries where you have to deal with it. Not here!

This was the best beach we have ever been on. It's large and allows space for everyone. You can be in or out of the shade, lounge chairs or beds, etc. The water was absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful blues and greens, great waves and great temperature.

The food is delicious. There are several restaurants to choose from and we were able to get reservations to each one we selected. The food is fresh and there's a large variety. Mole, Vento and Naos are my favorite restaurants. I prefer the Reserve buffet over the Gabi Beach buffet.

The staff was unbelievable. They are very professional and always willing to help out in any way. I'd like to give a shout out to Juan Cruz at the Pool Bar. He's an awesome bartender with a great smile and personality. We created a drink and named it the "Juan Cruz". Be sure to ask for one. Definitely missing the pool bar and my "Juan Cruz" drink. Another great bartender is Marcelo Sanchez and he can be found at the Gabi Beach bar. He always made our day by going out of his way to say, "Hi" or tell a joke. Be sure to get a green energizer drink from him (vodka goes well in it too). Marcelo also tended bar at a wedding we attended and made the wedding a great experience. Three other excellent service staffers are Rodolfo Pena at the Gabi Beach bar, Mini Mike at the Mbar and Julio Mercedez at the Pool bar. Always smiling, happy to help us and lots of fun to be around.

We truly feel the resort is amazing and plan to go back in April.

This was my daughter's and my first trip to Punta Cana and it is difficult to find fault with anything at this resort. We had a room conveniently close to the beach, pool and buffet. The Paradisus is on a large stretch of beachfront; we never found the beach crowded, and it was never an issue to obtain any kind of beach lounger or sunbed for the day. The waves were spectacular. We went parasailing one day with a non-hotel afiliated operation who offered a better price and ran a very safe operation, and took pics on our own camera. It was really a lot of fun. We both had a complete body massage at the spa and I highly recommend this; both women masseuses were very good. We found both buffets to be among the best that we have ever encountered in the Caribbean, and I recommend the Japanese restaurant not so much for its authenticity but for plain delicious fresh food, and the cooking experience at the table. The service was second to none, from the bartenders (hi to Rudolfo and YaBaby!) to the waiters , to the desk staff and everyone else. People went out of their way to ensure our safety and well-being. One night as it was becoming dark, my daughter and I were walking to a restaurant and a worker stopped what he was doing just to accompany us on our walk. Another time we had just missed a shopping bus and a desk attendant radioed to security to flag the bus down and it returned to pick us up. I could give you many more examples like this. We did not tip each time we got a drink, but that did not seem to influence the service; the workers were always gracious and the most mannerly people I have ever met. Our room was thoroughly cleaned every day and the beds were very comfy. The showers didn't have much pressure and there was no place to hang wet swim suits, but those are the only negatives. Everything else was above our expectations and therefore I feel very comfortable in recommending this resort.

Room Tip: Rooms near the beach can be noisier at night,we were in building 11 and it was perfect.

Very disappointed. The Hotel is very nice on the outside. The personnel at this hotel are very friendly and very responsive to you. BUT - the room was very poor maintained. In the bathroom water was dripping from the ceiling. The room smelled very bad from the humidity. The beds where wet from the humidity. Furniture looked olded, sliding windows where broken and not able to lock. TV didn't work. Internet didn't work all the time. Also very slow. Bathroom design was not very good. Tiles broken. No safe. Closet broken was not able to slide the doors. Was very cheaply made. Lighting in the bathroom very poor. But my room was not the only one. We where there in a group and most of the other rooms where in the same condition.

I just returned from my seventh visit to Paradisus Punta Cana in the last five years. I am very happy to say that it continues to exceed my expectations. My wife and I have already made plans to return with a group again next year.
Paradisus Punta Cana is a large all inclusive resort located on Bavaro Beach on the east coast of the Dominican Republic. From the expansive gorgeous white sand beach, the luscious tropical mangroves, the groomed gardens, the numerous and varied restaurants, to the inspiring architecture of the wonderfully positioned buildings, and the comfort of the accommodations, it is everything you would imagine a paradise location should be. It’s very spacious, but well-coordinated. While walking from the lobby or accommodations is not extreme, golf carts and trams (and this year: bicycles) are always available to whisk the weary traveler to a new diversion. While all the numerous restaurants may not be open off-season, the choices are diverse and the menu is expansive and tremendous. This year, the food selection is even better, and the quality is even improved! I understand thanks go to Mr. Frank Martinez for this! The wine list is expansive and exceeds even the most critical palate. Of course, the bars are well equipped and numerous!
However, the real jewel of Paradisus Punta Cana is the people. From the Gereral Manager Eduardo Perera Castro, to the un-named landscapers and beach-comber guys in the green coveralls, everyone always cheerfully continues what has become the excellent personal service that we had come to expect from this fine resort! Our friend, Guest Services Manager Nathaniel Perez, who personally handled one of our party's slight injury, took time for several chance meetings through the week, and even to join us for a meal or two, to the friendly good-bye; he is genuinely warm and friendly, and his entire Guest Services staff made us feel that we were not only their best guests, but their ONLY guests!
Their attitudes and professionalism also was emulated by the entire staff, who were warm, helpful, patient, caring, efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. Most notably were: Sandra Cedeno, Iris, and Geuri, our Concierges; Maiker Ramirez, and Ramon Ramirez, Beach Runners; Adolfo Portes, Beach Bartender; Jose Luis de los Santos, Pool Runner; Miguel our great chef at Gabi Beach; and Kursy and Casimiro, also at Gabi Beach; and our frequent tram driver (and fellow Boston fan), Daniel. Also a special thank you to the Security Officers, they were never obtrusive but were friendly and always attentive. They never let the riff-raff bother the guests! I really can’t think of any of the staff that doesn’t deserve recognition, I just wish I could remember their names as well as I can remember their friendly smiles and helpfulness!
Absolutely the Best! I have not the slightest idea why this slice of Paradise is only rated #45. By any standard it should be #1! I would give it Ten Stars if I could!

This was our first trip to the Dominican Republic. We had a great and relaxing time - mostly due to the butler service from Enmanuel Sanchez. He was very attentive to our needs and is excellent at his job. The rest of the staff was really nice and welcoming. The food overall was good, but the buffet food at Gabi Beach could be improved. The beds and pillows are not very comfortable. We can't wait to return!
