This resort was awesome! Our trip was almost flawless.
Airport & Check In:
We have been to Punta Cana 6 times and every time the airport is more organized. Customs and security went quickly. The people trying to sell timeshares are a bit annoying, but just tell them no and they leave you alone. The bus trip to the resort was nice. The roads get better and better every time we go. Check in was easy. Wet cloth and a drink right away. Our room wasn't ready, so we went to the buffet for lunch and the room was ready right after.
We had room 4204, garden view close to lobby and the nighttime entertainment. Nighttime entertainment was a bit loud if you were trying to sleep, but they have a iPod docking radio in the room. I have a white noise track on my iPod that drowned it out quite nicely. Room was spacious with a king size bed, safe, very large shower, separate toilet/bidet, 2 sinks and a jacuzzi on the balcony. Mini bar had 4 waters, 2 Presidente Lights, 2 Presidentes, 1 coke, 1 coke light (diet), 1 sprite, 1 orange Fanta, sparkling water (I think) and 2 orange drinks that they restocked every day. I left a paper note for housekeeping to leave "dos Coke Lights, Gracias" and they fulfilled the request every day. Our housekeeper, Iris, did a great job. She was very friendly as well.
General Resort Property:
Very clean. They were always fixing and cleaning something. There are not a lot of flowers like other resorts, but the grounds were still nice. There are plenty of shade trees around the property, pool and beach. I also liked that the place was on the smaller side and everything was easy to get to.
Beach and Pool:
We were always down to the pool and beach by 9am and never had a problem getting a hut or shady spot. The afternoons were a little trickier for pool loungers. There are not too many loungers by the pool. The lazy river part of the pool was quiet and amazing. We spent the bulk of our vacation in that area. They have staff providing drinks from 10am to 6pm. Fernando was amazing! He called us his "family" and kept us entertained. (I hope he is feeling better....he had to leave early to go to doctor). The swim up bar was a separate pool, which was nice because that was the party area for the younger couples. We brought our own blow up pool floats and we were glad we did. The resort provides a few, but they were hard to come by. The beach was lovely with white sand and lots of loungers in shade. We noticed that the huts were all filled by late morning. The water was pretty, but a lot of rocks and seaweed. It is not too difficult to find sandy areas though. They do a really great job of keeping the seaweed cleaned up on the beach. I saw guys cleaning it up all day long.
We took part in the buffet for breakfast, lunch and supper almost every meal. We really liked the food here. Always something amazing! Try the fresh omelets in the morning. We tried the Seaside Grill (good), Blue Water Grill (excellent cream seafood soup), Marclare (beef was excellent) and burgers for lunch at the beach (very good). The buffet was always great though.
We pretty much kept to ourselves in the lazy river most of the time. We didn't partake in the daily activities. From what I did see, the crew keeps the people that like activities busy. We did catch the circus show and the fire shows at night. They were both very good. Especially the circus! I was impressed.
We tipped at every meal, tipped housekeeping every morning and tipped the wait staff at the pool with every round of drinks. Everyone was very friendly.
I would go back for the lazy river, the food and to talk to Fernando again. He made the trip even more enjoyable.
Thanks Secret Staff! Everyone was very friendly. You all do an "excellente" job!!!!
