Great rooms, restaurants, beach and facilities, but the real treat was the staff. Super friendly and accommodating. We used the Family Concierge service and were amazed by the level of service and attention to detail. Our concierge, Milly, became part of our family during our stay. The Spas are great and while the Oriental Garden spa has limited locker room space, the outdoor massage cabanas are great. I have had a lot of massages, but my massage by Thai Ngo was the best I ever had.

This resort is a gem and I will strongly recommend it to family and friends. The General Manager for the Paradisus complex, Rafael Torres, is always present and maintains a clean and relaxing environment. We can't say enough good things about Rafael and his staff.

We went with 14 people ranging in age from 10 to 75 and we had a very nice vacation. The facilities are top notch, the food is very good for an all inclusive and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Victor Medino was our concierge and he was fabulous in helping us from check-in to check-out, in particular with making dinner reservations with such a large group. One thing nice about the Reserve is that there are only 190 rooms, so it doesn't feel crowded even when occupancy is full, and you have access to a private area on beach and an a pool next to beach. The walk from the Reserve to the beach is less than 10 minutes, and if you don't want to walk, there are golf carts that can pick you up and take you there in a flash. One suggestion for older folks: get a room on ground floor because you have to walk steps to get to second and third floor.

This was our third trip to the Dominican over Christmas, and our favorite resort that we have stayed at. Had booked the family concierge, and it was well worth it. Upgraded to a swim up suite-room 5304 and loved that to. Marina Nunez the family concierge manager help us at check in with the upgrade and through out the stay, she was awesome. Anabel Lopez was our concierge and was great the whole stay too. She helped us with restaurant reservations, and checked in everyday to see if everything was ok. We never took our phone with us, and didn't want to be pushy, so we didn't ask her for a lot. But it was great having someone looking out for us and if there was anything we needed, she came through every time and was always very pleasant. Really, everyone in the family concierge sections was great and it is well worth the upgrade.

Pros

Kid zone-We took our two sons ages 11 and 8 and they loved having the kids zone. At first were real shy, but natali, ynes, nicaurys, franchesca, francisca, yira, Jennifer, and all the others made them feel really comfortable and by the end they were begging to go. There was so much for them to do there and it was pretty obvious that everyone there loves kids and genuinely wants them to have fun. We went out to a great dinner at passions one night, and Sara watched our kids in our room. She was from kids zone too and our kids loved her, even just hanging out at our room for a couple hours.

Rooms and grounds-it is a huge complex with the main resort, the shopping, and the reserve, but real easy to get around with all of the carts they run constantly. We have been to a lot of other resorts, and this one is the best shape of any we have seen. The grounds are perfect and the beach is huge. We spend most of our time on the beach, and never had a problem finding seating.

Food-there are a lot of different options and all of them are great. We love Dominican food, but it's also nice to have other options. Favorite was gabi beach restaurant.

Service-there are thousands of workers at this resort, so you are going to get a few that are having a bad day or aren't eager to please you right away like others have said:). But we never had a problem and had a lot of fun dealing with everyone. It definitely helps to tip well, but even if you forget cash and can't, everyone is still great.

Cons

Milea club-we really were and still are interested in learning about membership because we will be coming back. Requested a quick run through on our last day because we didn't want to sit through a sales meeting like every resort tries to do. But it just wasn't possible for them to do it, and actually was embarrassing how they kept getting someone else to just ask stupid pointless questions. It is ridiculous how they do this and treat people like children instead of just giving the info requested

Resort clientele-this was our biggest disappointment. I realize its a pretty expensive resort so you are going to get a lot of people who have a lot of money and maybe feel like they are better then others? But just watching how the resort workers were treated, and holding the door open for people that can't say thanks or even look you in the eye, we were pretty disgusted. I Think a big part of it was being over Christmas, so a lot of large family groups? But it actually became a fun joke for my wife and I guessing at who was from New York area:)

Overall a great resort, and our favorite so far. Unless you are one of those people that are looking for things to complain about, you will love this resort. We did and will for sure be going back.

I have travelled all over the world.. Often you book resorts and hotels that claim they are 5 Star resorts but based on North American Standards they are not.. HOWEVER, this resort is truly 5 star!

We travelled as a group of 22 people and it was nothing short of perfect! Luxurious, clean, friendly staff, incredible food and a unprecedented attention to detail.

Sueli (not sure if i spelled correctly) was our personal concierge and was truly amazing and did everything in her power to ensure our group was looked after in every way. From making dinner arrangements, golf tee times etc.. thank you!

If i were to make some very specific comments about some things I think that can be improved i would say that the music on the resort during the day and at the beach needs to be improved.. after a while the thumping was a little annoying. It would have been nice to have had an assortment of music.

BIGGEST complaint is the air conditioning design in the rooms is poor... when the fan comes on it blows right over your bed... it created a draft and both my husband and I got a cold as a result... not sure there is a solution... I ended up sleeping on the pullout and it was perfect!

The nightlife on the reserve is quiet and next door at the Paradisus is not much better. If your looking to party this is NOT the place. The first night we arrived there was a disco party outside in front of the bar at the paradisus. It was fantastic.. dancing outside under the stars... who wants to go into a disco? However, that was one night.. the rest of the nights there was live music that was not very good... As much as tourists are interested in local music they want small doses... a simple solution is have a dj that plays a good mix of old and new..

The evening shows are not worthy to watch.. they are low budget and could easily be eliminated.

Everything is available to you at this resort, scuba, volleyball etc... however there is not much that is continually promoted to get you into things... If a volleyball game was scheduled for 2pm It would be great if someone walked around to advise people to participate Also considering there is not much night life it would be great for them to have a few pool and ping pong tables around..,. adults like to play too!

I highly recommend this resort and will definately try this chain again!.

Room Tip: We had the reserve rooms with a bedroom, bathroom, sitting area and kitchette with balcony... If yo...

From the moment you enter The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real you can be overwhelmed by the view from the lobby. The rooms are beautiful and beds are very comfortable. I really enjoyed the beach and the small restaurants surrounding the beach. Food was very good and considering the openess of the buffet to the birds and insects, I didn't find anything floating in my drinks or on my food. The cleanliness of the restaurants was very evident. During the day it is layback and not noisy but in the evening the place is jumping. It is fun to walk around and see the human statues that stand still for quite a while and then wink or move. Would recommend this hotel

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the Caribbean.

Sometimes I wish Tripadvisor would use a 1-10 scale instead of just 5 scale rating. I would have liked to give this place a 4.5 rating but it is not possible with current scale so I will give it a 5 anyway based on the positive things. There are a few flaws however which prevents this resort from getting a top notch rating which I will elaborate on further down in the text.

Starting with the positivies, the resort and the gardens is beautiful. We stayed in the Reserve which has plenty of nice pools and most of all a fantastic Kids Club which was a clear favourite with our kids 5 and 9 years old. They have plenty of nice young ladies taking care of them and the only complaint would be that they almost play too much with them so they are exhausted in the evening... The kids zone has everything to keep the kids happy, game consols, PCs, organised activities such as workshops, treasure hunts etc. It is possible to leave the kids there will you enjoy the resort.

The food in the resort is pretty good but like always it is difficult to expect top quality with the amounts of persons they have to cater for. We liked Gabi Club evening buffet best. Also tried the Mizu teppanyaki which was a disappointment even if the kids enjoyed the show. The market meat grill was pretty good. For lunch Hydro Grill and Gabi Club are good. The sushi workshop was fun which is offered a few times per week.

We stayed in a bottom floor room with garden/patio which was too dark for our taste. We never used the garden either so it was not really necessary. The garden and the whole resort was full of mosquitos and inspite of all precautions incl spray etc we had terrible bites all over. We had to change room because of this and got a top floor master suite which was much lighter and much nicer. A place like this should do more to get rid of the mosquitos for example with fumigation of the whole area.

The staff in general very helpful and service minded. The reception guys not too helpful though and should be more serviceminded. Did not use family concierge, does not seem to be necessary with the great kids club they have.

The beach of this resort is not anything special, we have stayed at two other resorts with lower prices where the beach was just so much better. It is also a bit far away if you stay in the reserve but they will drive you there in 5 min.

A very nice place with some things to improve.

Room Tip: Bottom floor room with patio was nothing special. Too dark and full of mosquitos. Did not use the ga...

My family and I spent a week there on September, beautiful family place.
It’s located in the same complex as the Paradisus, but fewer people, more peaceful and a little bit more expensive. It’s good if you travel with young kids like I did, but if you are looking for a more fun and diverse experience stay at the Paradisus, they have different shows, a small casino and a lot more restaurants; you are still entitled to use all this staying at the Reserve but they’ll have to drive you from you part of the hotel to the main resort
Something to take into consideration, the beach is also at the main resort and the golf carts don’t always run as often as one would like.
If you don’t want to waste your time don’t agree to the presentation, your concierge will say it will only take a few minutes, and take you into another building close to the beach where they will try to sell you a time share, the sales people are really really really good, every time you try to leave they’ll offer you an additional incentive, so if you are not interested just don’t waste your time like did, a whole afternoon.
The Wi-Fi connection sucks, it only worked in my room and at the front desk area, there was also an issue with a very rude maid, and another setback, this time a leak in the air-conditioning in our room, happened twice in our stay, they corrected it, but the leak was back the next morning. Apart from this details the place is very nice and the people really attentive.
The beds are enormous and comfortable, the rooms are also big, so no complaints there. The Spa was another great experience, not the best one I’ve been to but a very good one.
One thing you cannot miss during your stay is the restaurant “Passion by Martin Berasategui”, if you stay at the reserve you only pay something like 40 USD per person (no kid allowed), and if you stay at the main resort or at another hotel a little bit closer to 100 USD p/person; either way you will not be sorry, totally worth it. Congratulations and thanks to the chef Miguel Jabonero who was kind enough to chat with us for a while before we left.
Staying at the Reserve every other restaurant is included, food is ok but the best one by far is Passion. Pools are great, so is the service, the beach is really nice also with huge sun shades.
Also my thanks and regards to Wilfredo Vargas at the pool and our concierge Norberto.
All in all it was a good experience, would definitely go back.
