“Nice but exhausting”

I'm on Day 2 of 6 and I'm exhausted and kinda ready to go home. First off this resort is massive and it is very hard to get from place to place. There is a trolley that runs but it's always full; so we're doing way more walking that we'd like. The map provided is terrible; and there was no orientation to the resort. By the way no one speaks English. It is very hard to accomplish simple task like telling them your shower is broken. (It's day 2 and our shower is still broken)
Everyone is very nice but service is terribly slow. Last night dinner took 3 hours. We were exhausted by the end of that experience. We should have savored it because today we starving! If you miss the 10 am breakfast end like us you're pretty much out of luck until noon. And that's over at 4 and you then have to wait until 6 for dinner. It's not like most resorts where food is always available.

The rooms are nice but nothing amazing. Lots of maintenance issues and the beach is nowhere in site. There is only one villa that has some view if the beach.

We've stayed at the palladium in Jamaica and it was polar opposite from this resort. Talking with other patrons from Georgia to Germany- this resort is disappointing and there are very many better options if you come to punta cana. I'd love to offer my suggestions to management but no one understands English well enough!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new section.

I have traveled to many different locations but this was one of the best experiences I have had. From our arrival to the departure we were treated excellent. Rosa Angelica from Public relations exceeded our expectations in what customer service can be. She was very helpful with making reservations, answering questions, giving us information about hotel and surrounding events. This was truly a great vacation. The rooms were very clean, the food was great and the beach and pool area were extremely enjoyable. The only suggestion for improvement would be to add security cameras to the hallways in order to enhance the security of the suites. Overall our experience was excellent. We will definitely return. I strongly recommend this hotel! Room #1921

Since we enter the hotel, we encounter many types of problem starting on rooms facilities, air conditioner, lights, power energy and many others mores.

Either the guest service try to relocate to another room, always they have the same problem on many diference ways.

I took a good note of your remarks related to our staff and other services. Therefore I would like to take this opportunity to mention that we have a great task ahead concerning the subject matter since we are in a continuous process of the improvement of the level of our services. I assure you correctives measures will be in motions in order to keep our line of excellence in our services.

Our intention is everything runs as it is supposed to; in fact, as you can read in most of our reviews situations like yours are not norm in here neither represent over all of our service and facilities, on the contrary we are continuously praised by our excellent performances.

Regarding accommodations we perfectly understand that, once at home, it is very important to experience the comfort of your room immediately and this be according to your expectations. We have addressed this unplanned occurrences to the corresponding in order to evade future repetitions.

In references to your indications about the quality of the food offered in our restaurants we are quite surprised because we have carefully selected the products which compose our gastronomical supply, taking into consideration the diversity of guests who visit our hotel.


I also would like to specify that I am always at the disposition of our guests whenever they required any specific assistance.

Let me start by saying that Jose Ramon from Guest Services is excellent! He answered all my questions and helped me get what I needed. We had a great week at the resort, not a single complaint. Drinks are great and plentiful, room was very clean and the beach was clean and the prettiest blue water in the world! Go and enjoy!

We were on our 1 year anniversary trip this week for a 4 night stay. First time visiting a Caribbean island and first time at an All Inclusive resort. First, maybe 10% of the people working there spoke English. The receptionists, and maybe the wait staff at restaurants...that's about it. We get there the first evening and get to our room, it looks kinda old and dirty. We probably should've asked for an upgrade but they didn't offer anything and we forgot to ask (our fault). That night when I tried to take a shower, the shower drain wouldn't work so as soon as I was trying to step in I saw water accumulating and rising in the shower. We tried to call maintenance and got hung up a few times. Then finally someone picked up and said they'll send someone. Of course, no one came. Then we walked over to the lobby (far walk) and asked to send someone and they finally did that late night. The guy comes, doesn't understand English, we try to point to what was wrong and show him, and he tries to use a toilet brush cleaner to try to clear the drain to the shower!! There was also an outside shower because we had the Romance suite but there are lizards walking around so I wasn't comfortable showering outside.
We tried to change the room the next morning but the manager was extremely rude and without even looking said they don't have any other Romance suites available and we can't even downgrade because they'll get into trouble later. They could only upgrade us. But he didn't really tell us about upgrade prices. We later found out from another couple that it's only $10 a night to upgrade to a much better room but if we had heard that or if someone had mentioned it we would've immediately taken it. By the time we asked about it 2 days later none were available. And even then, we asked to be moved to a different Romance suite and then on the last night we wanted to upgrade to a Master Luxury suite which was $25 a night to upgrade. But they wouldn't let us do that! They said we can only make one change, either change to another Romance suite, or stay in our nasty room until the last night and change to the Master Luxury suite. We decided to just switch to another Romance Suite because our current room was so awful that we couldn't wait til the last night to switch. Even our AC was horrible in our original room...it was either on or off, you couldn't change the settings. Absolutely horrible.
The food at the buffet is so disgusting and bland that our meals at the resort were pretty much horrible. We asked some other folks what they liked and tried the Japanese Hibachi place which turned out to be pretty good and finally on our last night we had steaks at the Steakhouse and that was actually good. other than that, we tried to go to different buffets to see if the food would be better but they're all about the same. Bland, old, not good at all.

We are most disturbed to learn about your dissatisfaction with some of our services. Allow me to extend our most sincere apologies if we could not exceed your expectations. I regret not having had the opportunity to attend you personally during your stay; apart from my entire management team, I was always at the disposition of our guests whenever they required any specific assistance.

We respect your point of view regarding our service or facilities however I am quite sure we possess a lot of attributes whereby visiting our property would be recommended, we do lament not having been able to satisfy none of your desires in spite we have a bunch of services and facilities which, we are normally praised for as a great percentage of our visitors honestly express.

Just returned from Grand Palladium Bavaro and looking forward to going back next year.
Checking In: Nervous based on other reviews, but had no issues whatsoever. Staff were friendly and no issues.
Food: Would I rate this 5 star quality, no, but no real complaints, mostly ate at the buffet because we had two kids with us. Some of the a la carte restaurants we were able to walk in with no reservations. Made to order omelettes, crepes and all the bacon you can eat! ( lol ). Lunch at the beach restaurant was very convenient. Enjoyed the different theme nights and the welcome drinks based on the night ( Tequila !! ). Missed out on the beach BBQ, held at different parts of the resort which we weren't informed. ( frustrating )
Room: Booked the Master Junior Suite, two beds and the sofa bed came in handy for us with the two kids. Recommend taking your own pillow unless you like really firm pillows. Huge bathroom with shower and jacuzzi tub. We were in building 27 which was perfect for going to the beach ( 30 second walk ) and lunch restaurant. Opposite end of the resort for breakfast and dinner but didn't mind the walk as it allowed us to explore the grounds. FYI: Power shuts off when you remove the room card which shuts off the fridge. Would have been nice to have a cold drink back in the room after a day at the beach. Based on other reviews, kept valuables locked in our suitcases.
Beach: The pictures don't lie. Awesome! A few vendors but respectful. Get there early if you want one of the beach huts!
Staff: Everyone was very friendly especially to our kids. Not everyone spoke fluent english which is to be expected but they made an effort to chat with us. Doesn't hurt to learn some words in spanish also.
Resort: It's huge!. Four resorts in one! Grounds were well maintained. Were given fresh coconuts on the way to breakfast. Shuttle carts and train but a bit of a wait to get one. Tip: take the time to explore and see what there is to do. Casino, kids club, disco, sports bar, a few shops on the beach ( same stuff ). Barter to get a deal. If you are going out to party every night, not sure this is the resort for you.

I visited the Grand Palladium Bavaro in May of this year, had a Junior Suite, the room was great, the food and services horrible, cold food daily, the good thing was that you are able to use other facilities like Palladium Punta Cana and Palladium Palace, after the first day I started using the Palladium Palace facilities and notice a huge difference, the food was good and the service, the people very friendly so it made the rest of my stay pleasant. I DO NOT RECOMEND THE GRAND PALLADIUM BAVARO SIDE.
