“Punta Cana Princess Awesome”
Reviewed 27 October 2009

We very much enjoyed this resort. Everything was great, from the check in, room, staff and all the buffet and al la carte restaurants, guest services, beach. I could go on forever. We have been visiting Punta Cana for 20 years now and we would very much recommend this resort and do plan on returning.

From the moment we arrived, we both felt very safe and cared for. The staff were amazing--always wanting to please...they seemed to know when to come to the table for service, and when we needed time alone. We made friends with serving staff--got big hugs and kisses on our last day there. The a la carte dining was no less than five star!! We loved that we didn't need reservations. The whole place was romantic in that it was couples only. We will definitly be back. Thanks for a great vacation, Dawn & Don Brownlee

My wife and I decided on the Punta Cana Princess after doing some research.

Due to weather delay in Atlanta, we were going to miss a day of vacation. However, Delta Airline, Funjet, and the Punta Cana Princess worked with us and extended our vacation by one day. This was done with no extra cost.

When we got to Punta Cana Airport we were impressed. Everything seemed organized, and before we knew it we were on our way to the hotel.

The entrance to the hotel was very nice. The lobby was every impressive. Check-in was a breeze. We were sent to our rooms, after been given a welcome cocktail. The reviews and even the description on the hotel web site made me believe it was a very small hotel. It was not a huge place, but larger then I thought.

We were in building four, honeymoon suite. The honeymoon suite was a two-story room. The upper story had the jacuzzi tub, and a couple of chairs. We had a welcome basket of fruit, rum and cigars. The only issue in the room was the bathroom. Very outdated, but functional.

The grounds were well taken care of. The staff was always mowing, trimming, raking and cleaning. A couple of times, one of the grounds staff would get a coconut to give to us. It was great drinking the fresh juice out of the coconut.

The white sandy beach was clean and always plenty of chairs. If you wanted the front row you had to get there early. We always had the 2nd or 3rd row and it was perfect.

The water was clear and warm. A gentle breeze kept you cool during the day.

The food was ok. Typical for an All-Inclusive resort. Breakfast was about the same everyday. Lunch was ok. Again it got to be the same by about the 3rd day. Dinner was good. We ate at the Tex-Mex one night. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. Mare Nostrum was also very good, fresh lobster. We had the buffet a couple of night. One night was the Dominican beach party. Interesting food on the buffet. However, it was very good.

The wait staff was friendly. Sometimes it took awhile to get something to drink or to even get noticed.

The pool was never crowded. It seemed the busiest about 4 or 5 pm. One issue we had was that the drinks tasted different at each bar. So, it was hard to find one drink and stick to it.

Overall it was a great vacation. It was a nice beach to relax and read a book. And be warn, a few topless females walk the beach. So, if we were easily offended, you might want to rethink this great place.

Any questions, please contact me.

My husband and I stayed at the Punta Cana Princess in October. Overall it was a great trip, very relaxing. The value of the trip was great! The hotel was perfect for what we wanted.

I read many reviews before choosing this hotel and now I feel many people just focus on small problems when on vacation :) The hotel is not 5 stars. The service was really good most of the time, but sometimes you had to ask twice for your drink..... the staff was very friendly to us though.

The room was ok, close to the pool and big washrooms. The linens were stained and old though.

The food was good. I think they had a good variety and we could always find something we liked. For breakfast there were pancakes, waffles, egg station, sausage, omelet, breads, fruit, cereal, yogurt, ham, cheese.....yeah, it is the same thing everyday but i dont know what else people could have for breakfast. The lunch buffet was good, there was also choice of beef, seafood, chicken, salads etc..... For dinner the mexican buffet was awesome! Mare nostrum restaurant was just ok, the lobster is very small and not great. I didnt try the swiss restaurant, the Tex-Mex was our favorite ( fillet mignon was amazing!) and the italian was also good!

The beach is very nice, and as many people said, if you plan on buying anything, bargain, A LOT! The people on the flea market will give you ridiculous prices.

Entertainment is not very good. The animation team tries hard, but its not good. We ended up just watching tv or going to bed early to get up early and enjoy the day....but we were fine with it!

The pool was also really good, lots of places to lay down and enjoy.

I would recommend this hotel, but set the expectation right. The hotel is good not great, but we were there to enjoy the sun and spend time together, so it was perfect!

We stayed at this resort during a second week of September. I decided to go to PCP because the place looked nice and the reviews were good. My girl friend and I are both in our mid 20 travelling to get some sun, swim in the ocean and just relax.
Arrival: The PCP is approximately 30 min drive from the airport. The reception at the front desk was very friendly, quick and easy. We got greeted with a cocktail and shown to our room within 5 min.
Rooms: The room was everything we asked for: close to the beach, 2nd floor, light and spacious, with two separate beds overlooking the pool and a little bit of the ocean. There was a fruit basket, cigars and a bottle of rum on the table as a welcome thing. The fridge was fully stocked but their policy said to only leave 2 beers per day. We made friends with some workers and got 8 beers delivered to our room whenever we needed!! 
Pool: The pool was very nice however when I booked this resort I was under the impression that there are 2 pools. Hmmm.. Nope, there is only one. The service at the swim up bar was ok. The pool was never overcrowded with plenty of seats around.
Beach: Gorgeous!!!!!! We spent every day chilling by the ocean... The beach is wide, never overcrowded and perfect for long walks. There is a flea market to the left of the resort but it takes about 10 min to get to. Apparently there is a flea market to the right of the resort as well but its way further. There are a lot of people passing by and trying to sell things. There is nothing wrong with buying a souvenir but be careful! You have to bargain! TIP: Do not book any excursions on the beach!!!! They will tell you that they work on the resort but it isn’t true. There are cases when people book tours (overpriced) and end up getting ripped off with no chance of getting their money refunded. So be careful!! Book excursions only with your representative (in the lobby).
Entertainment: To be honest, I was disappointed. Pool activities were lame and the entertainment crew had a hard time getting people to participate. Beach activities were almost nonexistent. Performances in the lobby were boring. One evening there was a “beach party” which consisted of an open buffet, musicians and dancing. That was the most fun. I have been to other places in Caribbean where the entertainment was awesome but unfortunately didn’t experience it in PCP. After 11 p.m. the resort died out. There is a disco place but it was under renovation so we had to go off the resort to local clubs to have some fun. I’m not sure if it has to do with the size of the resort or with the fact that it was a slow season but I thought it could have been much better. We went to a local club called Mongu a couple of times. It was really awesome and I highly recommend it!! You can take a taxi to get there and it’s about 10 min away from the resort.
Food: The food was ok. Breakfast didn’t have a very big variety and it got a little bit boring by the end. The beach restaurant was alright and we always found something we liked. La carte restaurants were really good. Well known fact: no reservation required!! lol. We tried two: Tex-Mex (great!) and Swiss (amazing!!! absolutely a must!!).
Excursions: We did the canopy tour. It was fun and thrilling. If you are thinking of booking it- wear comfortable clothes and preferably crocks (ugly but useful ;)). Running shoes are ok only if it hasn’t rained because you’ll be covered in dirt. Second tour we took was a trip to Saona Island. It is truly spectacular!!! You’ll get to experience: speed boat ride, swimming in the middle of the ocean with star fishes and drinking rum!! On the Island you’ll swim and take pictures of the calm, crystal clear water, have open bar and buffet and head back on catamaran with more drinking, dancing and sun tanning. One of the best tours offered!!!
Overall: PCP had some downfalls that I’m not going to bother mentioning because it’s too much writing lol but I have to agree with some reviews and say that at times the staff are not all that helpful and sometimes are anything but that. However, everybody have different experiences and this review is based on mine. The resort is not big and it was half empty. We spent every day by the beach and didn’t see 1 couple get married. I would not recommend getting married there. It just felt like PCP was missing something.. This resort is for people who are not looking for much action. It’s pretty laid back and relaxing. However if you are looking for a night life, this might not be the resort for you. We had a great time but we had to go outside the PC Princess. Basically it all depends on what you want your vacation to be!!
P.S. If you want to bring back some souvenirs, cigars or jewelry I strongly suggest that you get it at the flea market or on the resort.. The prices at the airport are absolutely insane!! And you can’t bargain there.. For example: simple keychain is AT LEAST $5!!!
Relax, stay safe and enjoy your vacation!!

Spent 2 weeks here with my daughter & neice and had a wonderfull time. It is as quiet or as lively as you want it to be.

All the staff were very friendly & helpfull, the rooms were clean & bright, the pool & beach lovely.

The entertainment team were the best, they looked after us when we went to the casino & nightclub, and they made us laugh all holiday, we now think of them as good friends and we miss them all.

Would recommended this hotel and will be booking again.

just returned from our lovely week. we had booked for tropical princess with thomson and got moved to bavaro, upon reading reviews asked to come here. was no problems, thomsons were supberb!
no complaints at all, just a wee bit too quiet for me in the evenings, found ourselves retiring around 9pm! but there again got up early each morning for our run......
had some rain, mostly during the night and 1 afternoon for an hour, which was very refreshing.
did the half day trip, swim with sharks etc then party boat, bit expensive really, but had a good time.
definately recommend for couples, but if you want more lively, not the place for you.
