“A great experience for the entire family (10)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

We thoughly enjoyed the Reserve Paradisus in Punta Cana. The service was top notch, the variety of restaurants was great. We were there Seven nights and never had to eat dinner at the same place. Probably the best all inclusive we have visited. I would like to recognize the following people; Concierge- Yeuri Beltre, Waiters- Emilio Valdez, Santo Polanco, Jose Luis D'Los Santos.

We have traveled a lot and stayed in a wide variety of hotels, including some 5 star ones known for service. We can't recall any with better service than this resort. Everyone we encountered seemed happy and happy to help. When we arrived, the adjoining or nearby rooms we requested for our family of 5 turned out to be in 2 separate buildings. I didn't get angry at all, but explained that we really needed to be close, for sure in the same building, and preferable right by each other. We waited in the lovely lobby area while they figured it out and they ended up upgrading us to the Reserve area to accommodate that request, which meant we had access to the Reserve pool and an extra buffet restaurant that was right at the reserve.

I don't want to list names, for fear of leaving any out, but I do need to shout out to Desiree Rodriguez in housekeeping who must have been in our room every time we walked out, keeping it tidy and well stocked. Every person at the Reserve Lobby check in was so gracious and helpful. The guys at the swim up bar at the Reserve and the guy who served at the pool side restaurant were great when on the first day we lost our new bottle of sunscreen (which would have been $30 to replace at the gift shop!) - the next morning, they saw me, called to me and returned it!! Every waitperson at every restaurant (and we tried them all) were as good as any at fine restaurants in Chicago. The food was really good at the a la carte restaurants, the service was excellent and attentive, but slower than we are used to - let 's call it vacation leisurely. Our kids are older, but if we had young kids, it may have been an issue if they need to eat and get out quickly. Also, the servings are on the small side, but being all inclusive, our teenage boys simply ordered more which was always offered and brought with a smile.

We did walk off the resort to the mercado (a 5 min walk or less from the entrance to the grounds of the hotel) which felt fine during the day time, and got some really well priced jewelry and art. Of course you bargain, but remember that the extra buck or two probably means way more to them than to you.

We did sign up and got to go snorkling and catamaran lessons. Just be sure to ask when you arrive, as the sign up space is all the way to the left on the beach (as you walk onto the beach) so it is not at first obvious where to do so.

We visited The Reserve for our parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and had a great time! Beautifully kept grounds and lovely staff. Thanks to Asia for making my parents so happy with a special cake on their last night as well as surprise champagne and candles with flower petals in their room!

My friends and I just came back from 8 nights here. We loved it! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Everything is kept very clean. There are many restaurants so you can eat dinner in a different place every night. The pool and beach are wonderful, with chairs, beds, and huts to keep out of the sun. There is a towel hut both at the beach and by the pool. The grounds are very large so they have trolleys to take you places if you don't want to walk. If you are unable to walk the stairs, be sure to ask for a first floor room. There are no elevators. Kudos to Santo, Emilio and Jose who served us drinks by the pool. They always had a smile on their faces and were great to talk to. The servers in the buffet restaurant by our pool were great. They got to know us at breakfast and lunch and brought us our drinks right away. They knew I wanted iced coffee at breakfast and iced tea at lunch. All I did was sit down and they put it in front of me. Great customer service! They also have free wifi which made checking email so much easier. I did not have to run back to the room and connect throughout the day. I would definitely go back to The Reserve!

We had a wonderful time staying at The Reserve. We were there for six days. Let me start off by saying that this resort is beautiful and the staff truly makes the experience so much better. The property is well maintained and the staff works very hard to keep it beautiful. We were upgraded to a master suite; it was spacious, cozy, and very nice. We were escorted to our room after a briefing of the resort’s amenities, which was a very nice touch. We were on the first floor facing the pool and it was nice not having to climb up flights of stairs. We were the farthest away from the beach, but it was not a bad walk (and after all of that food, we certainly needed the walks). There is a mini fridge in the room, which is stocked with water, coke, orange juice, and beer. They also put bags of delicious plantain chips in each room. They also provide you with a coffee maker, an iron/ironing board, umbrella, pillow/blanket, and toiletries you may have forgotten. They have thought of everything and truly make you feel at home. There were two TVs in our room, and it was great to be able to watch some late night shows from home. The bed and couches were very comfortable. The jacuzzi was roomy; I only wish I had brought some bubble bath soap. The cleaning staff leaves water bottles by each sink, so we brushed our teeth with watered bottle just to be safe. The water is not potable, so do not drink it. Everything was clean and just very nice. There is a concierge in each building available to assist you with anything you may need. There is a tram that takes you around the property or you walk to your destination and enjoy the beautiful and very detailed scenery. The resort is big but walkable. The pools were great, and there is plenty of alcohol and food available. The beach was amazing – beautiful sand and water. They have towels, huts, and beds that you can use, and there are restaurants and bars that are easily accessible. The food was good. The a la carte restaurants were a lot better than the buffets, but that is expected. You definitely need to check with your concierge and make reservations for the a la carte restaurants. Our favorite a la carte restaurant was Fuego, and our least favorite was Vento. The Hydro Grill by the pool was also very delicious. Overall the food was great. We did not go to La Palapa or Passion as they are not included in the package. The alcohol is included, and they certainly do not skimp on the liquor. They offer many free activities on the resort, including water activities. You can also use their bikes, but you have to reserve the bikes a day in advance. There is also a gift shop, a cigar shop, and a place to book excursions on the resort. We also didn’t do any excursions, but there was so much to do on the resort that we felt it wasn’t necessary. One last thing that was awesome, they offer wifi! It can be spotty at times but it was so nice to be able to check in with our family and friends.

The staff is truly what made this trip amazing. We were in building 38, and our concierge, Anabel, was the best. She was so attentive to all of our needs and extremely helpful. She definitely went above and beyond for us. At the Hydro Grill, Jose R., Melvin, and Ramon made the dining experience fantastic. The bar tenders at the Gabi Club bar were all so much fun and provided us with excellent service. There is a tall bartender there (whose name I cannot remember), who always checks whether or not you want “vitamina” in your drink – he was fantastic and his drinks were the best. Our waiter at both the Gabi Beach restaurant and Fuego, Johnnie, was the best. He was hilarious and made our dining experience there great. Seriously, the whole staff was just fantastic. The cleaning crew, the bellhops, the ground keepers, the wait staff, everyone was just great. Thank you all for making this such an amazing experience.

Tips: You should bring low bills for tipping – the staff works so hard and they appreciate anything. Make reservations for the a la carte restaurants as soon as you get there. Participate in the included activities. Bring a lot of bug spray because the mosquitoes there are vicious. Bring lots of sun screen too. Don’t waste your time going to the shopping strip, Palma Real. The resort offers a free shuttle there (because it’s owned by the same company). The stores are very Americanized and very overpriced. You can certainly get those things for cheaper at home. If you want to go shopping, there are lots of stores outside of the resort. You have to walk 5-10 minutes down the road, but it’s not a bad walk. The vendors are a bit pushy. Reserve your transportation to and from the airport before you get there. The trip is a 20-30 minute drive.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the first floor so that you don't have to walk up the stairs after a long day.

What a magnificent time we shared in Punta Cana. The Paradisus Reserve is a must see resort location. The must significant persona for your stay is your concierge. Our week long stay was simply awesome due to the personal touches from our concierge, Yenifer Valdez.

In order for you to enjoy a picturesque stay, be sure to consult with your concierge upon arrival.

They will advise you on restaurants, personal touches that are designed to meet the needs of all visitors and resort amenities that are not always known.

THIS WAS OUR HONEYMOON, AND WELL WORTH THE TRIP. KUDOS TO Yenifer Valdez, Santos our waiter, Noel and Maykol our sports entertainers, and of course, Jose DeLa Cruz our rock wall instructor for adventure.

We just spent one week at The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana. We had never been to an all inclusive or Punta Cana. I must say that we enjoyed this beautiful property, and the service received by the staff. I highly recommend this resort for anyone that would like to have a relaxing vacation, with opportunity to do as little or as much as you would like.

The resort is well kept in all areas, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Although the resort is large, there is a tram that takes you from The Reserve to the beach and to other areas. We had no trouble jumping on and off. If you are willing to walk, it is a beautiful walk through the gardens and nice landscaping. We were able to do a little of both.

The beach area was perfect. The sand and the beach was just amazing, with the Chiki huts.
We had dinner at all the A La Carte restaurants except Passion. Our favorites were Fuego, Vento, Mole and The Grill. One thing to note, that we were not aware of, is that some of these restaurants are in an outdoor setting, therefore it can be hot and humid, not uncomfortable, but something to note. Another item to be aware of, is that because it is an outdoor setting, there is likely to be mosquitoes. Take bug repellent.
We did take a tour to Isla Saona. Avoid the expense and stay at the resort. Saona Island was full of bees and wasps and they cannot control it because the Island is a nature preserve. I am not exaggerating on the amount of bees and wasps we experienced. As for the beach, it is very difficult to get into the water without water shoes, There are lots of large shells and rocks, which make it very difficult to walk in.

The resort entertainment was okay. Some of the better shows were the Cirque, Dominican Republic Night and Michael Jackson.

Overall we had a very nice and relaxing weekend which is what we were looking and hoping for. The resort was great and we would likely do this again.

Before I wrap this up, I need to thank the below staff that made our stay even more enjoyable. The way I see it, the staff is an integral part of a vacation and we enjoy developing friendships with the staff, as we do on a cruise (we have always cruised).
These below staff members of the Paradisus were wonderful to us and made our stay a true joy.

Concierge/Reception - Rosmery De Jesus - She greeted us when we first arrived and took great time to make sure we were taken care of before our rooms were ready. We arrived at 10:00 AM, a little early. She was wonderful on the following day as well, in making sure we had our resort vouchers in place, answered any questions we had and was available to talk us through the Melia Rewards. We were not interested in the Melia Club, and although she did try hard (no pushy) to get us to go through the presentation, we are jusi not interested.

Concierge - Diosmery Francisco - She was located in our Reserve Bldg 37. Disomery ensured that we had reservations at the A LaCarte restaurants every night, addressed a couple of inconveniences with our roon immediately and was always a pleasure to talk and see in the morning, afternoon and evening. She always had a smile on her face, and always made sure to tell us that she was there for us and that we could let her know if we needed anything at anytime.

Beach Service Reserve -
Maiker Ramirez (Drinky, Drinky) was always ready to greet us and set us up under our favorite chiki hut. He kept our drinks flowing and had some great drink recommendations for the hot weather. Always a pleasure to talk to.
Ramiro Ramirez ( Mi Gente Bella) was also wonderful. Either him or Maiker were great. Awesome beach team with the guests.

Restaurant Staff -
Rannelly Polanco - What can I say about this wonderful young man. He was wonderful at taking care of us at dinner and lunch. He always greeted us with a smile and was ready to serve us.
Arturo De Los Santos - He was our server at the A La Carte and then at Gabi Beach. Arturo was very sweet and conscious of making sure we were happy and and very pleasant.

Bar Staff - We had the joy of having Felipe Mateo as one of the bartenders at The Reserve. He always had great conversations with us and our daughters, knew us by name, and was willing to provide some great drinks that were well mixed and prepared. He even would make non-alcoholic drinks for our daughter who did not drink alcohol. Felipe was well liked, and it was clear by the other guests who would walk up, ask for him, greet and talk to him. Toward the end of our trip, we learned that Felipe was no longer with the resort, and the bar area was not the same. We were sorry to not be able to say goodbye. He was truly great at his job.

Once again we would like to thank all of the above staff, for making our experience that much better. Without them, it would not have been the same.
