Pros: Beautiful beach and pool, brand new rooms (without a bathroom door, mind you :), every room has a large balcony, most have ocean views.. it is an overall well designed and pretty resort, and the staff is friendly.
Cons: Huge language barrier. If Starwood wants to cater to people from New York and elsewhere.. the staff needs to be better trained to know what "olives are for martinis, or what maple syrup is for pancakes). If you go to the DR, it is helpful to speak spanish. The other main customer service issue is the speed at which things occur. Such as getting your food, checking in or out… it is definitely island pace here…so don't be in a rush, and brush up on your spanish.
Gym: I am the only guest that figured out that the handles on the 2 elliptical machines were installed backwards. The hotel said that that is how the machines came to them. Most likely they were not installed in the US. Hilarious. Please fix that.
Food: try to get out of the resort and go to, La Yolla, Bamboo, Jellyfish, or the Italian place in town..More
