My friend and I traveled to this resort in March 2014. Check in went smoothly, however the staff didn't offer much guidance on the resort. It would have been helpful for us to know the times in which the resorts buffets were open, how the train runs, when/where/how to make restaurant reservations etc. or at minimum tell us where to find it. It seemed as though they were offering orientation to different groups, but we were never told any information about that. Everything we learned was on our own, and we had to ask for a map. The rooms were clean, and well kept throughout our stay. We had the opportunity to dine at 2 of the restaurants and enjoyed both experiences! We arrived on a Saturday and by Monday when we went to book we didn't have a choice as to where we would dine, what day, or time, we just had to take what was left, and we didn't get to book our 3rd meal at a restaurant that was suppose to be included in our stay. The buffet food was good, and we definitely didn't go hungry! The bed was incredibly comfortable and the shower had perfect water pressure. The beach and pool areas were beautiful, and well maintained, but if you want a chair you need to be there for the sunrise and leave a towel, or you'll be laying in the sand. We worked with VIP to book our excursions and had a blast on Adventure Boogies half day excursion to Macao beach and cave. We also did a Cultural tour with Bavaro Runners, which was a blast as well. The resort is beautiful, the staff was kind, and engaging in conversation. Overall, we had a great stay, and I would definitely return.

This resort is very beautiful and very big so the beach could be a 25 min walk if you are on the far side.
The rooms are nice and big and the maid service was good. Here are the down falls, There were issues with
all three rooms at check in from a shower that was broke to TVs that did not work, fridges that were not working.
You would think these things should have been fixed before we checked in. The food was mediocre at best.
The beer at the bars is undrinkable, it has a horrible taste. The service was non existent most of the time.
We do believe in tipping but it sure was hard to justify at the end. There were six of us that went to the same buffet
two times a day and they would be scrambling to find a seat for us every time, like they were surprised to see us.
There is certainly a language barrier here that surprised me because when we were at another resort 5 mins
away in Nov and it was not a issue at all. This resort being a all inclusive was very lacking in the things we would
normally take for granted like having to pay 4.00 a day for a room safe, 50.00 for Wi-Fi, no ice machines. I would normally
say this is a 3.5 star resort but two of the three rooms we were staying at we found Huge cockroaches so 3.5 would
be on the high side. I would not go back to this resort with the way it is run not even for half price.

Room Tip: The adult only section is the closest to the beach

We booked this last minute for March break 2014. We read lots of reviews and the few partially negative reviews were outweighed by good reviews. With experience of being there, its impossible to give credibility to negative comments about this resort. We arrived and found a tropical island within an island.

The staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. The choice of foods is extraordinary and the rooms are pristine. When they advertise all inclusive - they deliver. All food and drinks without question are all in and even the mini bar is stocked up daily at no extra charge. We were surprised by the high end quality, the serenity of the gardens and pools and to top it off with a white powder beach with clear turquoise sea - a true piece of paradise.

A ship wrecked off the coast 40 years ago is a testimony in itself, the captain of the ship sailed too close to shore for that stunning view and the ship grounded. Its still there today and all we can say is well if your going to get shipwrecked - it must be the best place on earth to happen!!

Room Tip: It doesn't matter where your room is, garden views are silent and yet have a tropical view and sea room views...well your on the beach all day and only in the room to sleep!

My three friends and I just got back a few days ago from our one week Spring Break trip there. This resort was so nice and definitely exceeded my expectations. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Main bartenders at the lobby bar (Miguel, Eddy, and Angel) were by far the best bartenders I have ever seen. Our maid was so very nice and made sure that we had everything that we needed. Our security guard, Felix (wish I got to say goodbye, what a character), was outside every night and made the place feel very secure. Only downfall was the food, probably only because we have never been out of the country and weren't used to the way their food was prepared.

We stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro from March 3rd-March11. We do not understand some of the negative reviews/comments from others who stayed here. We thought
it wonderful. The resort is very big but laid out wonderful. The grounds are to die for. Beautifully landscaped and well taken care of. The staff throughout the complex were wonderful
to us with all having a big smile and a willingness to please. Stick to the wonderful buffets with a
large offering and variety. We did not enjoy the ala carte restaurants at all. Meant to be fancier than the buffets but lacked a quality and abundance of dinner offerings and the service was
not the same as the buffets. The one ala carte restaurant "El Pescidor" was great and offered an ala carte menu and also use the buffet. The food was great and made our evening. Negatives, the TV most all channels are in Spanish - nothing really
to watch if you are not Spanish. Also, there are no snacks available during the daytime and at the pools/beach. The beach itself is beautiful and we always found our chaise chairs which you
mark very early in the morning or they are all gone. The shows at night were great but they also were spoken Spanish by the emcee or Director of Entertainment.
We did not understanda word and one night there was a contest to select Miss Bahia for the week. It was very, very boring so we lost one night of a good show. The other shows were good.
We also bought 2 tickets for the Carnival Show on Friday night. The show could have been a lot better and we wished we had saved the $30.00. We took two tours dune buggies and the
BB Catamaran tour. Both were great.
We really liked this resort and highly recommend it to others.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Premier complex Unit 48212 which was an end unit. The junior suite was large and ample and very clean. We could walk very short distance to the main lobby for entertainment at night and the buffet and pool were around a corner and short walk.
