Dear Chris,

Thanks for staying with us and for your review. We are glad that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. Thanks for your observations.
I regret to read that you were not informed about the facilities and services that we have in the hotel, I would like to share with you that I have asked our Sales Manager who, together with her team, to confirm with the agencies that offer our services the information that is provided to our future guests, we definitely do not like our guests to be surprised when arriving at the hotel for situations like this as it can create confusion about the contracted packages. I hope that despite this experience, in the future, you will give us a new opportunity to demonstrate the good service that characterizes us. Again, thank you very much for your time and honesty.

Sincerely,
General Manager

We have just had two weeks at this lovely hotel. It was our second time to Dominican Republic (first time 10 years ago) and it didn't disappoint, other than the slightly hit and miss weather! It is the wrong time of year to go, most days the rain came in in the afternoon or evening, massive thunder storms a few times and torrential rain that flooded the walkways a couple of times! Saying that we managed plenty of time on the beach and got a tan! It's the first holiday where the sun loungers were not covered in towels at the crack of dawn! No matter what time you went to a pool or the beach you would always get a lounger, such a refreshing change. It may have been because the hotel wasn't full, probably due to being rainy season, whatever the reason it was great!
The food was really good and having the choice of a menu at most restaurants instead of just buffet was lovely! Also, a first, no bad stomach issues, probably because their hygiene standards were top notch and also having fresh cooked meals instead of warm buffet food everyday would have helped. The army of staff worked tirelessly, the gardeners always trimming and sweeping, the beach cleaners constantly clearing away the seaweed and tidying up loungers. The cleaners sweeping sand out of the beach bar and cleaning toilets etc. The toilets were always spotless!
Our room was huge and comfortable, block 38, big comfortable bed and lovely pillows! The only criticism would be the open shower cubicle and the glass door to the toilet, if you like privacy from your partner this isn't for you!
It was only when we got there that I realised my partner hadn't packed any long trousers, so we couldn't use two of the restaurants in the evenings due to a dress code! What was more annoying was it didn't seem to matter what the women wore! We saw young women in very short shorts going in but my partner couldn't go in with knee length shorts! If you have a dress code enforce it for the women too!
One night when the Sea grill was closed we only had the option on the Asian (which is good) or the vegetarian! As we had just eaten at the Asian we decided to go to the other side and try the steak house. The advantage of staying at the Royal is you can use all the facilities and restaurants whenever you like, no booking or limits to how often you eat at them. We had a fabulous tenderloin steak there. We also tried the Caribbean (Yuca) restaurant, not very impressed with it though. Towards the end of our time we went to main buffet restaurant and enjoyed a great steak, a stir fry, pasta, cheeses, and all sorts. Their buffet area is enclosed and airconditioned, didn't see any flies when wandering around deciding what to eat! Word of warning, the wine in the main hotel is awful! At the Royal it is in bottles and much nicer!
The 'entertainment' at the Royal is dire! About 4 times someone playing a violin, once a keyboard player and a saxophonist, who seemed to be playing different tunes out of tune! It was actually boring at night, not sure where others went, maybe the casino or night club that cost extra? We saw a bit of some of the shows over 'the other side' usual cringeworthy performances, apart from the acrobats who were good. We tried drinks there but when I wanted wine I couldn't drink it and told the barman it is awful and he laughed saying the Royal side had decent wine! All in all we had a great time and would recommend it, especially if you went with friends, as there were people from all over the world and we hardly met any English we were quite isolated. Did have a few conversations with lovely Canadians but other than a few groups of REALLY loud Americans, the rest were Russian or German it seemed. We would normally meet people to spend evenings with, and have made good friends in the past, but not this time. And what is it with Americans? Why are you SO loud, always at full volume shouting over each other? The peace when they left was blissful! lol
You have the choice of the pool with the swim up bar where activities are held and music played, the quiet infinity pool with a gentle slope to walk in, or the gorgeous beach.
If you're looking for a chill out holiday this is for you.

Room tip: top floor if it rains so you you dont get flooded

This was me and my husband first trip at Punta Cana Dominican Republic. This is a very beautiful resort. We upgraded our room to the privileged deluxe swimming pool suite very nice rooms. Our very own private pool was wonderful. We ate at the Snack Sea Blue every day breakfast lunch and donner food is awesome restaurant. I like the quiet laid back atmosphere. Entertainment every night was great. The staff was very nice and helpful however some staff didn't speak or understand english that well. Perfect weather the entire time. I wasn't that impressed with the casino. The presentation was to long I would recommend that you say no to spend that time enjoying your vacation. We also enjoyed horsebacking and the off-road buggy riding please be prepared to get muddy with this activity but we had fun.

Room tip: Room was very nice.

$2400 for a 7 day stay.
4 days too many!

Great staff.. clean property.. BUT!

The beach is destroyed.. barely 20’ deep.. it stinks and full of debris from previous storms.

A decent ,clean room BUT
air-conditioning was barely cool.. low-water pressure, IF ANY hot water at all...And I got badly bitten while sleeping...and watching any shows after dark outside, even though they sprayed , just before dark, with some NASTY leaf-blower contraption that was
Just RANCID! Hombre had a filter mask on but we all got to inhale the nasty chemicals!!

average food ..slow “ISLAND TIME” service.. I got food poisoning eating at the “steak house” and I missed at trip next DUE TO THIS but had to pay cause I didn’t show.

Entertainment staff cannot set up in a timely manner and when they do get it going , they keep their heads down playing what they want to instead of paying attention to what the patrons want to hear upon request.. also hitting some obnoxious horn button constantly.. pissing us 30 something’s off!!

And the piano bar they so highly advertised was nothing but MODERN Spanish disco music all week, other than a guitarist inside one night because it was raining or for a locals LATIN karaoke... and when I tried to sign up for an ENGLISH song that night I was turned away!

Just brutal... we gave up and just watched TV after dinner.

She ain’t pretty.. she just looks that way
YEAH ..

“after a dozen rum drinks over- served at the pool bar “

Save your money and go elsewhere!

The staff Rosa, Eva, Reuben, Ana, Juan and Oliver were wonderful and did an awesome job with our group of 40+ people. They jumped through hoops to ensure our group was comfortable and happy with their accommodations. As the group leader, no matter what I asked for, it was never a problem and they showed EXCELLENT customer service. I know they typically do not host a group of our magnitude but they managed to do it with style, class and grace. I recommend this property for couples as well as groups.
