“Great views across the town”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

Take a tip - get your taxi to drop you at the castle. It will avoid a stenuous hike up a steep hill and from the top, everywhere else is downhill!

Great views across the harbour, the town of St. Georges, the marina and the cruise terminal. Not much by way of information about the place but its interesting to clamber around the old fortifications. Admission is free.

“Seriously, did I go to the same place....?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2013

As that is the only reason why there are so many good reviews here! We walked up the steep steps to the fort and, yes, the views are wonderful. But everything else is dreadful; the place is a dump. It is obviously a popular spot at night if the remnants and rubbish - bottles and cigarettes everywhere - is anything to go by. The fort itself is a dilapidated shell that now partly houses the Grenada police force training barracks. Yes, there are a few cannons but it really isn't worth entering the fort; it is dirty, filthy and run-down.
Climb the mount for the view but do not enter until the Grenadian government invest in this piece of their history.

Back to the sailing past, heroical times when Men of War were harbouring in this well protected port, right under St George magnificent town.

“Spectacular views!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2013

Very interesting visit. We took a tour around the fort and learned quite a bit about Grenada's history and about the fort.
The views are exquisite and as most Grenadians are ... our tour guide was super friendly.
Take a walk up to the fort ... you'll be glad you did.
