“Ignored by inattentive staff”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 via mobile

Came here for Sunday brunch and expected a bit of a wait. However we never expected it to be this bad. We were seated quickly and told they would bring us a menu. After half an hour, there still was no menu so we offered to go to the chalk board and order from there. We ordered drinks and food then as well as 2 waters as we were seated in the sun. Our friends who we had dropped off at le boulongerie for their own brunch then came to meet us after we had been waiting for an hour. We still did not have drinks or waters and had asked for them over 4 times to different wait staffs. Finally, our original waitress came to ask what we had ordered. It was plainly obvious they had forgotten our order and lost the ticket. I counted 5 tables arrive, eat, and leave before we received our food. All the while our friends are having to sit and wait for us. Eventually they decide to order milkshakes to help pass the time. They never got them. When we finally did get our food, it was okay. Definitely not worth anywhere near a two hour wait. We voiced our displeasure to the owner who did nothing to help us feel better and just made it obvious that they could not handle such volume. It's too bad, we used to love this place but I will never be returning. If you see that it's busy, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. If it's empty, go ahead and try it.

Wow! We begin by once again apologizing as we did on Sunday for your unhappy experience. At the time you did express to me (the owner) that you were not going to return when the bill was paid and that you did not receive a discount for your inconvenience which I was not able to address at that moment because I did not have the details (which I now understand as you have posted your list on TripAdvisor). I would have needed to know a little more to be able to address the problems. Being so very busy, it was not possible to get all the details and you were also in a hurry to leave, which I do understand.
As for being seated in the sun, we always tell our guests that we prefer not to seat them there as it gets very hot and when we are busy (as we were on Sunday), it takes a long time to be served. Customers are only seated in the sun if they insist on doing so. A covering for one part of the outside seating areas is in the works for future enjoyment. Water was taken to your table at one point, because I personally served your table water when your friends were seated with you.
Your order was unfortunately placed after the two large tables of 15 and 17 were sent in as you arrived after them. This would have been explained to you. Our ordering system is done by a POS system, so the orders would not be lost, and if the other five tables did received their orders before you, their order would have been placed before your order went in to the kitchen and bar as orders are processed in sequence.
All that being said, our goal at Le Papillion Café is to serve customers in a timely and cheerful manner, as without you, we would not exist. We are not happy however with the service that we provided our customers on Sunday as we were overwhelmed and the kitchen and bar were challenged to deliver in a timely manner as each item is made “fresh” to order which normally takes a little extra time. Our café is equipped to serve smaller groups of people and although we made every effort to meet the demands on Sunday, we did not meet our goals, which was also frustrating for our team. We will be placing another server on the floor in the future to meet the demands of busy weekends.
Once again, we apologize that your food was not enjoyable and that your experience was not a good one. Most of all, we are truly sad that you will not give us a second chance and regret that you will not return to enjoy our top quality food and great service that we pride ourselves on and thank you for your support in the past.

“great cuisine”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

We ate here about three times during a week's stay in Morne Rouge. The quality of the food was excellent and the service good although it was slow on one occasion when it was busy...but it's a small place so sometimes it's worth being patient when you're served with something delicious. I'd particularly recommend the "local" breakfast of curried lentils with pumpkin and eggs...but really everything we had was delicious.
We had a little trouble finding it, but it's on the road behind the Spiceland Mall and is part of the Siesta Hotel.

“An Excellent Find”
Reviewed 21 March 2014

After walking past it many times, we decided to try Le Papillion at lunch. What a lovely surprise. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and seated immediately. The menu has breakfast and lunch items on it so Brunch would be the best description of our meal. I had goat cheese and callaloo crepes while my partner enjoyed guava and brie crepes. Both meals were delicious! The rum punch here is tasty. The owner came to each table to chat and we felt very welcome. We returned the next several days and tried a variety of items including wonderful French Toast, banana caramel crepes, and eggs en cocotte and a lobster nage. Everything was so tasty! They make their own juices, and jams here and they are so good. As a coffee aficionado, i was delighted to find absolutely delicious coffee here. In fact, I think it is the best on the island! This is one restaurant that should not be missed.

Good service, food was excellent. Decor was charming. We popped in for breakfast and had a lovely time. Wish we were in Grenada longer to sample off their lunch menu.

“Excellent for light lunches”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

A great selection of snacky meals for lunch, all at reasonable prices but menu rather american. Can get very busy at lunchtime as it is popular with students.
