We were a three generation family of seven people, ages nine through seventy-one and had the top two floors, separate bedrooms and bathrooms for all! The house is handsomely decorated; everything is first class and well thought-out. Kitchen is well equipped although there are several great restaurants within a few minutes drive. Was there anything less than sterling? - the pool is great for getting cool and for children‘s splashing but not large enough for swimming laps. And a car is necessary; although located in a convenient area, the house is not in town.
When leaving these great accommodations, one has wonderful and interesting Guadalupe to explore.
We had a large group, and so we booked the entire Villa Charles. It is as beautiful as the pictures make it look; the top two units have stunning ocean views, the bottom unit has a lovely outdoor space. All accoutrements worked great--the mattresses were excellent! The villa is quite close to the lovely town of St Francois (by car) with superb dining, markets, shopping etc. The villa also gives access to the Anse de Rochers beach for residents only--perhaps the nicest beach we tried in Guadeloupe (which is saying something!) never crowded, beautiful coral sand; it was great to just walk down with the kids for a few hours of sun and sand most every day.
Marie is wonderful, very professional, courteous and hospitable--cannot say enough good things about working with her.
The downsides are very minimal. The villa was a little hard to find the first time (we arrived after dark) and you'll really need to rent a car (though this is pretty much true of almost anywhere in Guadeloupe).
Our family has rented a lot of vacation places all over the world, and pound for pound this has been the best. Excellent!
