I'm lucky... I've sailed the world and the seven seas and stayed in many of the world's best resorts and hotels. Is this on up there? It's not just up there, it leads the pack.
Even Simon Cowell would be lost for words if he had to judge this place. It's special. It's perfect! 11 out of 10.
From the moment we arrived and looked across the open marble lobby to the turquoise sea beyond we felt that this may be a special place. How right we were.
This is a huge property but never feels so. It stretches more than two miles and has so many curves that you can see both sunset and sunrise from different parts of the beach!
I don't know how the team manage it but despite its size it always feels so intimate here. The staff care so damn much. They really do seem to love this place and their jobs. This is Jamaica at it's best. This is chilling at its best. This is vacationing at its best!
Our Hibiscus suite was large and spacious with plantation style furnishings, a huge bathroom, large balcony, two TVs and an excellent four poster bed. Oh... and an incredible view of the Caribbean Ocean! A few steps away was the beach which felt like our own private stretch of sand. There were dozens of coves that felt like they were designed to be individual beaches for each suite.
We saw some of the other suites and properties. Each one more incredible than the last, We just have to return. There were also great facilities for kids and for teens.
The Fern Tree Spa was breathtaking. I can't describe how gorgeous it was. My partner said that if she only had one day to live, she's want to spend it here. Waterfalls, astounding views, sumptuous smells, massages in private wooden cabins on wooden poles above the ocean...
We were on the fully inclusive meal plan and ate stunning quality food at each meal. Forget about coming here to lose weight... it ain't gonna happen! The food here is world class and excitingly prepared and presented. We loved the Sugar Mill restaurant in the evenings and the Sea Grape for breakfast and lunch.
The breakfast specials changed daily and always included American and Jamaican specialities along with great fresh fruit and patisseries.
Queen Elizabeth has been here twice as has Prince Charles, Princess Margaret, Jacqueline Kennedy, US Presidents and Jeff Woolf ;-)
If I ever get married again, I'll try and do it here. It's romantic beyond compare.
More than fifty years in the making and maturing, the Half Moon is like a fine wine. To be savoured and enjoyed.
Again and again. And again.

I recently returned from an unforgettable stay at Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay. This was a very special gift from my family for a special birthday. After hearing about this resort from friends and family and checking out the website I definitely had wonderful expectations. From the second we arrived the staff far exceeded these expectations. Our staff - Anthony Evans, Lezetia Wallace and Annetta Morris were THE BEST! My children, 5 grandchildren and I were treated like royalty. The anticipated all our needs with the highest quality of everything. The food they prepared was excellent and they took great pains to cater to the needs of the grandchildren..an incredible trip!

We can't imagine how we will ever be happy at another resort after staying at the Half Moon. I'm not saying it was perfect, but I am saying that it exceeded our wildest expectations and they were high from the beginning. The items that were most outstanding were the food, facilities, golf and staff. I would however recommend skipping the glass bottom boat and making sure you understand and pre-negotiate prices for pictures and video taken during any dolphin experience. We stayed in Junior Suites which were spacious.

We have traveled to Jamaica as a family for more than 10 years, staying in every type of accommodation, and Half-Moon does it the best. The resort is pricey, but you get what you pay for. The grounds are beautiful, very secure and well maintained, the staff professional, and the activities excellent. Our children (8 and 10) had a terrific time. The staff from the GM to the beach attendants were all professional and addressed all concerns promptly. For the first time ever we extended our stay beyond our original time. If you are looking for a fun filled, no hassle, no "pirate ship in the pool", no bullhorn wielding "activity counselor" experience, Half-moon is for you.

This January marked my 27th trip to Half Moon in a span of 33 years. I could easily live on this beautiful, friendly resort. The staff is helpful, going the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need or want. The grounds are lush and well kept, the beaches are lovely and uncrowded. There are a variety of restaurants in which to eat or you can buy food to prepare at the commissary if you are staying in a villa with a housekeeper and kitchen. There is an activity for just about everyone including a Robert Trent Jones golf course, parasailing, snorkeling, swimming, shopping, kayaking and horseback riding. There are also children's activities, a fabulous spa and a gym and numerous swimming pools. Someone else mentioned no wifi in the rooms but there is an ethernet connection.

The cottages on the beach are perfect. We have stayed here twice and are always thrilled with the total resort. Rent bikes, golfing, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, shopping. Perfect for families. Morning breakfast buffet is extensive and delicious. Evening buffet on Seagrape Terrace equally good. Cold gazpacho soups yummy and refreshing....something different. Authentic Jamaican. We've stayed at the Ritz and much prefer Half Moon. Do not miss the Sugar Mill Restaurant, sit on the terrace, order a side of bammy. Ask Phil to sing "No Woman No Cry". Enjoy the Calypso Boys at happy hour at Seagrape Lounge.....right on the beach. This place is Heaven.

Although I was at Half Moon on behalf of a client incentive and technically "working", I got to experience most of the resort. It is very upscale, tranquil, and gorgeous. The setting is stunning with a beautiful, walkable, private beach. This gated resort is made up of suites, villas, and cottages - I got to see one of each - tons of character. I stayed in a suite right on the beach (#4) and I could leave my doors open at night to hear the ocean. The staff bends over backwards for you. The food is definitely upscale as well (we did an all inclusive.) It was nice that it is located just 10 minutes from the airport. Also enjoyed the restaurant over at the golf course. Shopping nearby as well. While it is an expensive resort, I'm sure if you can swing it, you would think it is wonderful.

Room Tip: Ask for a beachfront villa or suite.
