I love Half Moon, the food the staff the atmosphere. Their spa is the finest on the island. The beach was great we had such a good time. Friends were able to join us for dinner and that was really special. They treated us royally. We will certainly come back again and again.

Just returned from 5 days at Half Moon and it was absolutely perfect. The resort is well maintained and the grounds are beautiful. Our group was in a royal villa - amazing accomodations, attentive but unobtrusive staff, delicious drinks and meals. Fun to drive around in the golf carts provided. We also took advantage of many of the resorts amenities: golf, spa, swimming with horses in the ocean, dolphin experience, Hobie cat ride - all handled by very professional and friendly staff. In fact, everyone at the resort was friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Beach was beautiful and clean with plenty of water toys (paddle boats, kayaks, floats). We also went off the resort to Dunn River Falls. This is clearly a big tourist destination and so you get what comes with that (vendors pressuring you to buy souvenirs, etc) but it was still good fun for the whole group.

All in all a wonderful trip. Would totally recommend.

Ya, Mon. Half Moon is incomparable. Every staff member will go out of his or her way to make your stay supreme. From the moment you step off the plane and enter the Half Moon "lounge" to await your shuttle to the resort (our plane was 2.5 hours late and yet, everyone waited to greet us), to Chesoni's final handshake at Seagrape on the afternoon of your departure, this staff seeks to make you feel loved.

Let's take it one aspect at a time, so you get the full flavor of this exceptional property.

Choose a Hibiscus Suite, which guarantees you an ocean view. Courtesy of Alesio at check-in, we stayed in Rooms 19 and 19a - just 30 paces one way to the Olympic and Hibiscus pools or 30 paces the other way, to the ocean. Either path leads to happiness. Our room featured the most comfortable king beds we've slept in and a bathroom fit for a royal couple. We traveled with our 21-year-old son, who decided he would get to bed early each night in order to rise early to enjoy the day. The air conditioning provided a respite from the heat/humidity/sunshine that accompanied our stay. (Note that the Hibiscus Suites are private and quiet, and are located where the surf is shallow. You can wade in, but cannot swim, unless you go waaaaay far out. To swim, simply walk down a stone path to The Cottages. That's also where you find paddle boats and sailboats and floats and snorkeling equipment.)

Off property, dine at the Sugar Mill; on property, there's Il Giardino for dinner. We ate three times at the former, twice at the latter. Solomon is your charming host at The Sugar Mill, where I ate lobster - very similar to Bermuda rock lobster - each time. Our son enjoyed steak all three times and my husband mixed it up. Servers are constantly in attendance with your amuse bouche, appetizer, entree, dessert. We dined outside at The Sugar Mill, which is great if there's a breeze, and thankfully, there was. We found our best meal was at 6 pm - the first seating. That's when the amuse bouche was crispy and hot and there was no one but us on the scene. The hotel shuttle bus will bring you to The Sugar Mill, open nightly.

On property, there's Il Giardino, which serves excellent pasta - of all kinds. I also enjoyed the special appetizer of fresh mozzarella. The servers are as warm as the decor inside, and do dine inside. Diners have a choice, but there's little in the way of a breeze by Il Giardino, so sit inside, in air conditioned comfort.

Off property, accessible by shuttle bus or a golf cart driven by a wonderful member of the bell staff, is an Indian restaurant, whose name escapes me. It's fantastic, and also serves Thai food. The service at the Indian restaurant was as delightful as our meals (order the Butter Chicken and any specialty bread). In the same shopping mall, there's a pub called Robbie's, which I'm told is terrific too, but we didn't get a chance to stop.

Breakfast is an awesome buffet. The cold buffet starts at 6:30 and ends @ 11; hot buffet runs from 7:30 - 10:30. The omelets were our favorite, along with a different choice of savory bread each day of our seven day stay. The fresh fruit bar is notable for its sweet baby pineapples and juicy, ripe mangoes. I'd say that our family alone ate at least three full mangoes each morning. They were that delicious.

We were on the Half Moon plan, so lunch is included. And yes, we ate it - at the Seagrape. Common food. Nothing special. Go for the all-inclusive because food and drink are quite expensive ($320 for dinner for three at The Sugar Mill). All food and drink is included in the Half Moon plan, except drinks at the Indian restaurant and Robbie's, and bottles of wine and champagne.

What to do at Half Moon besides eat?

Swim, sunbathe, snorkel, visit the spa, use the free weights at the fitness center, drink at the swim-up bar. Talk intimately with your family and learn something you didn't know before. (That's why we go on vacations.) Be at peace. As I said, we were 30 paces from each of the two pools. The Hibiscus pool offers a swim-up bar, where Marlon will treat you as family, and keep you smiling. We spent hours at his side, alternating between swimming and sipping Pina Coladas, Diet Cokes, rum punches and all manner of juices. You can even eat at the swim-up bar by ordering from the Seagrape menu. There's a small "room service" fee of $5 to deliver to the pool. But it's way worth it - where can you munch on a sandwich, take a dive, munch and swim some more?

The three of us took a 1.5-hour snorkeling trip with Kingsley over at the Dive Shop. If you've snorkeled in the Cayman Islands, you'll be spoiled. This coral is down deep and there are fewer colorful fish and vibrant reefs than our trip in the Caymans, where our knees literally scraped the coral, it was so close. At $40, however, it's a worthwhile diversion. We wanted to interact with the dolphins, but the cost for 30 minutes was prohibitive ($249 per person, according to the gentleman I spoke to @ The Dolphin Lagoon).

I had a terrific massage with Pauline at The Fern Tree, and there's a great fitness center we all used.

We spent an unforgettable day at Nine Mile, Bob Marley's birthplace and final resting place. It was a great trip, except for lunch, which could hardly be called that. But that's not the fault of Half Moon. That's the tour company calling "a snack," lunch. Nevertheless, we took a bus deep into the countryside, where the poverty of Jamaica is apparent and the towns are bustling with folks shopping and hanging out at eateries and merchants. If you know Marley's music, you gotta take the trip.

As has been said in countless reviews, this is not a noisy, ch-cha-cha all inclusive. You never have to fear that you'll be jerked up by someone with a microphone, forcing you to dance. It's all about serenity. So: Forget about everything back home, come to the Half Moon and find contentment. (Start saving $$$$ now! And be generous with your tips. They are sincerely appreciated.)

Room Tip: Hibiscus suites are stunning and private, offering complete serenity and guaranteed views of the wat...

I travel every year with my family have been to many resorts in the islands this was my 2nd trip to Jamaica but 1st time to Half Moon Bay and I will never forget it. We were treated like royality, everyone was friendly, helpful and knew our names. Rooms were spotless and the resort grounds were stunning. We were upgraded to a royal suite with a pool and our rooms were large with large bathrooms and patio. We took sailing lessons Linclon was our instructor he was wonderful with my daughters. We also did the horseback riding on the beach fantastic! We went to the hip strip in town with one of the drivers at half moon Lloyd, he was great told us all about the island and knew the best places to shop. The best part of my trip was that Jamaica, was celebrating their 50th year of freedom while we were there and the Olympics were going on and Jamaica was wining a lot of medals. They were and are such proud people I will never forget my experience and I look forward to going back!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful. Most have pools all steps from the beach and beautiful gardens everywhere.

The Half Moon is just a stunning Jamaican property! We stayed at the Half Moon in July, and
found it to be more than we could of ever imagine as far as the beauty of the resort, the friendly
service, and the food was excellent. I have traveled the world, and have been to Jamaica 3 other
times staying at other resorts... The Half Moon surpasses by far all the other resorts I have
stayed in while vacationing in Jamaica. My children ages 12 & 18 were never without something
fun to do... that is quite an accomplishment in itself! For those looking for a authentic Jamaican
experience... the sort of place you dream about in the tropics with lush tropical foliage, beautiful
Jamaican smiles, warm hospitality this is the place for you! Those all-inclusive resorts are no
way comparable to Half Moon, however if you prefer the all-inclusive plan it is offered to the
guest at a excellent price. Swimming with the dolphin experience for my children was just
Fantastic! Never thought this was something we would do, but soooo glad we did!
The spa experience was also top notch at this resort... the spa staff was very accommodating,
and made sure my spa day was just amazing! This resort is a slice of Heaven! Thanks Again
Half Moon for making our trip to Jamaica one my family will always cherish!

I took my three kids down for four nights and had the most amazing time. My kids are begging to go back. There are lots of activities (dolphins, horses, etc) but the beauty is you don't have to do (or see most of it). We had one of the smaller beaches to ourselves and caught crabs and played in the water most days. The service was wonderful and the staff took the best care of all of us. I went as a single mom and felt completely safe both at the resort and when we went out to dinner. Service at sugar mill was slow, but food was good. We will definitely be back!!
