“LIKE YOUR OWN PRIVATE ISLAND RETREAT…GO, IT'S GREAT!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This was our second trip to Half Moon, I don't know why we waited 20 years to return, this trip was fantastic! We had a quick four days to spend at the resort, and they were perfect in every way. Summer rates gave us 30% savings on a duplex room with two floors and two bedrooms and bathrooms and a kitchen. My husband and I were traveling with our teenage children, so this was ideal. The resort provided a free shuttle to and from the airport, arrival had us in the VIP lounge for a flawless check in. The resort encompasses 400 acres and 2 miles of beaches, many that are little private inlets. We felt as though we were staying on a private island…no need to leave the resort……way too much to do there!

Golf and tennis facilities are state of the art….tennis is all new. Full work out area and hugh spa with outstanding services. I highly recommend the Cocoon Wrap. Food was a 12 on a scale of 1-10. You could see, feel and taste the effort that went into each menu offering and every plated dish. Buffets differed each day for breakfast and lunch with a bountiful assortment, richly presented and mostly served at stations. Imaginative offerings included mashed potato martini bars, taco stations, smoothies of various types and some of the best fish dishes around. We ate in all the restaurants including Robby's next door and all were very, very good. A special shout out to Giorgio Rusconi and his team for making the food and beverage offering delicious and memorable.

The hotel offers golf carts for rent, and we did get one to get around, also added to the fun. There are bicycles for the taking as well. The beach is lovely, best part were the private little coves that if you are lucky like we were, you will get use of these " mini beaches" for your own private use. Nothing like sun salutations on your own private little strip of sand! Also, since they are private, there were no outside predators trying to sell you jewels or braid your hair. There was a small area on the main beach set up with handmade wares etc, done in a respectable and upscale offering for those who are interested. There are a variety of water sports offered as well with catamarans, kayaks and paddle boats.

The hotel has over 50 pools, many are part of the villas, but all public ones are terrific, there is even a swim up bar pool and an olympic size pool. The spa also has a pool. The resort has it's own Dolphin Cove where you can swim with and train the dolphins, as well as horseback riding on the beach. There is a new, extremely large and lovely children's area with all kinds of outdoor swings and a vast play area.

The hotel has excellent service and offers something for everyone, whether you are traveling with your spouse, friends or your family…there is appeal for all. We cannot wait to return…and this time, it will not take 20 years!!! Great, in every way. Relaxing and elegant.

Exceptional, you really do pay for what you get. This is clearly the most exclusive resort in Montego Bay. What a relaxing place with no distractions, noisy children or anything to break the tranquillity.

My daughter had her dream wedding at At Half Moon. From the time we got through customs the resort took us under its wing and made our stay one of the most memorable and happy vacations we have ever experienced. Half Moon is 400 acres of paradise.
I love to swim and spent a lot of time in the ocean which was steps from the one bedroom Hibiscus suite we had for the first 3 nights, number 126. The suite is lovely, beautifully decorated with lots of ambiance. It has a big covered patio, huge bathroom, living room and separate bedroom. It was close to the restaurants, beach bar, shops and lobby.
Behind our building were two pools, One big curvy pool and an Olympic lap pool. The pools were separated by a swim up pool bar that had little tile tables in the water around the bar. Flowers and lush tropical foliage surrounded the pools. We ordered lunch at the pool bar for our large group. No problem.
We spent the last 3 nights of our time at Half Moon in Villa number 85. This is a glorious 6 bedroom, 6 bath villa, with direct ocean front views, a large lush lawn which goes down to the beach, private pool, outdoor dining room plus large patio. We were treated like royalty by our new friends, our butler, Rines, our housekeeper, Tweety Bird, and our cook, Michele. They were wonderful. They anticipated our every need. Our group occupied 5 villas.
We hosted a cocktail party at the villa the night before the wedding. The resort, specifically, our sensational wedding coordinator, Tashane Castillo, and our marvelous butler, Rines, handled all the details. Tables with white cloths were set up around the lawn and patio. The ocean setting was exquisite. The staff served hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. It was such a great party we didn't want it to end.
The wedding took place on the Oleander Terrace beside the ocean. The resort, and once again, our wedding coordinator, Tashane Castillo, did a wonderful job in making the event a stress free, fun, elegant but relaxed, beautiful wedding. The wedding events, some inside, but all open to the ocean, included the ceremony by the ocean, the cocktail party following, the dinner. The evening ended with a bonfire on the beach.
Without exception we did not encounter any employee of the resort who was anything other than smiling, helpful, friendly and welcoming. If your looking for a destination wedding, this is the place. Tashane will take care of everything. Just tell her what you want and she will move heaven and earth to make it happen.
Our group occupied rooms, suites, and villas in various price ranges. Everyone was pleased with their accommodations, I cannot shout the praises of this resort enough. It is fabulous.

Room Tip: Oceanfront Ground floor Hibiscus Royal suite..Number 126. Just walk out to the ocean. Big covered...

My husband and i stayed at Halfmoon in 2008 and loved it. so on our return trip May 18th thru 22nd, we were not surprise to see some of the same staff there which give us a sense of comfort. we stayed again in the hibiscus suite and enjoyed it, the beach front rooms are fabulous and spacious with comfortable king size beds which is turned down every evening and fresh linens replaced. the bath is the size of a bedroom. the breakfast at the Seagrape resturant was the best with lots of healty food to chose from but since we were in Jamaica we went with the Jamaican breakfast everyday and it was the best. We walked the entire estate every morning for our daily exercise before going to the beautiful beach where swam and kayaked(water sports were free with your stay) Night life is very relaxing with soothing music. all in all Halfmoon is a class act in itself and we will be returning again.

Half Moon is fantastic -- especially if you're looking for a small -- or large -- destination wedding. My now husband and I had our wedding there May 10. Tashane, our wedding coordinator, was a class act all the way and helped make it a perfect wedding for us and our guests. The food, setting and the service were top notch. People couldn't stop raving about our Jamaican feast. Half Moon is gorgeous. Its been there 60 years and because of that, its very lush and tropical and it stretches two miles so you never feel packed in. Strongly recommend Villas 85 (ocean), 91 and 89 (garden) if you go that route. Any of the hibiscus suites, royal suites and Deluxe rooms are all fabulous. We were there a week. The restaurants' food is good, as far as resorts go, although it can get a tad pricey real quick. That's easily remedied by taking a couple of meals at the casual Robbie's Kitchen on the property and going five minutes beyond to the terrific Scotchies. The spa and gym are also fantastic. This is a perfect vacation stay for either a special event or a 3 or 4 day decompression escape from the real world. Again, if you want your wedding there, ask for Tashane. She thought of everything and she and her Half Moon colleagues treated us and our guests like royalty.

Room Tip: Villas 85 (spectacular ocean views), 91 and 89 -- garden. Ask for the butlers Rines, Rahon or Cecil...
