“Wonderful time @ Half Moon”
Reviewed 25 May 2010

My sister and I spent four nights at Half Moon. We had a nice time. We both wanted to get away and relax, this is the perfect place for that. There isn't a nightlife at this resort, which we didn't miss. There is a bar that's open until 1am. The food was delicious, however very expensive, luckily we had a meal plan that included breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. When we added up our receipts for food and drinks (we couldn't find a few of our receipts and even skipped dinner one night) the total was more than $800, so that gives you an idea of what you can spend @ this resort. We also took advantage of the spa while we were there. This is a must do, you'll love it! It's so serene.

went for 4 days with family of 2 kids, 4 and 6...4 bedroom villa was very nice...beaches were lame if you are used to white sandy beaches with blue coloring...much to much seaweed in water...pools were nice but you never felt like you were on an island when you ventured over to pool...some staff great ..others always seemed to be expecting a tip even though we were on all-inclusive plan(which includes gratuity)...Food....only place to eat for dinner i would recommend would be Sugar Mill...outstanding...two of the other five restaurants were not even open and we were not told of this till we arrived...other restaurants i would give a C- grade...been to just about every island in Caribbean and this was my least favorite hotel and stay...for the amount of money they ask for you it is SO not worth it..

We had our wedding at Half Moon and it was a dream come true. We had 88 guests and every single guest had the most incredible time and can't stop talking about the hotel and wedding. We highly recommend Half Moon for a destination wedding. We stayed for a week and everything about the hotel was perfect. The hotel employees, the food, the rooms, the coordination of the wedding...was amazing! I'm not just saying that because it was our wedding. We travel a lot and Half Moon was truly one of the best hotels we have stayed at. We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were married at Half Moon on May 1st. Everything was so much better than we had dreamed possible. Our guests were delighted with the beauty, the cuisine, and the staff. We could not have asked for a more helpful planner than Andrea Smith - she was outstanding throughout the planning process, during our wedding events, and even after our guests had made their return trips.

Our photographer, Chris Dumas, who was beyond amazing, created the slideshow in the link below - which includes some photographs from the Friday Night Beach Barbeque, our wedding ceremony on Sunrise Beach, and our reception at the Royal Pavilion. Additionally, we hosted a cocktail reception and brunch at the Royal Villas (Thursday night and Sunday morning).

I would be delighted to speak with any couples looking to host their wedding at Half Moon Resort. It was everything we hoped for and more!

Stayed here for four night, three days of golf and stayed in the 7 bedroom villas. Golf package was good playing Half Moon, White Witch and Cinnamon Hill. Food was excellent, staff very good and ambiance excellent. B-B-Q on Friday was very good.

This was my first time at the Half Moon and hopefully it won’t be the last. The resort is big, but beautifully laid out with lovely colonial style buildings. There are plenty of staff to tend the grounds ; keep the beach free of seaweed and the paths clear of sand. We were staying in the West Cottages close to the main reception. Our room was right on the beach and only yards from the sea. Our junior suite was spacious with quality furniture and a large bathroom. Towel provision was very generous and the Mango Tree bathroom products were lovely. Less impressive was the air conditioning unit in our suite which was noisy, looked old and needed attention part way through the week.

Staff in all areas of the resort were extremely friendly and happy to assist. There were a few minor problems with our room but they were addressed very quickly. Most mornings we had breakfast on our balcony, delivered by men on bicycles carrying trays on their heads – quite a sight. The breakfast was always delicious and hot food was served hot. In the evenings we ate at the Sugar Mill restaurant and the Royal Stocks Pub, which was more casual. Our meal at the Sugar Meal was excellent and service was very attentive. The food at the pub was good but service was rather poor. We also ate at the Seascape which has an a la carte menu as well as a buffet. The buffet was reasonable, but choice of desserts was limited with no cream or ice cream available to accompany dishes.

My 13 year old son son was very impressed with the facilities for older children: good choice of TV channels, mini golf, tennis, water sports, teen movie nights, bicycles; disco etc. However the highlights of his week were definitely the swim with dolphins at the Dolphin Lagoon and driving the golf buggy around the complex. The resort was full during our week which meant we did have to wait for golf clubs; tennis courts etc. The resort also has a small but well equipped gym and there are a wide range of classes each day.

Our Good Life Package included a Swedish massage at the new Fern Spa. The Spa buildings are lovely, really serene and peaceful set in lush gardens with banana plants. The massage itself was fantastic and was followed by some time in the sauna and steam room, all in all, definitely an experience not to be missed.

On our last evening we attended the manager’s cocktail party. The setting in the Royal Pavilion is wonderful with fabulous views of the sea in the distance and the strains of a 3-piece group singing Bob Marley hits. The canapés weren’t so fabulous but we were saving ourselves for the Beach Barbecue. At the barbecue the food, service and atmosphere was excellent. There was a huge choice of meats and fish with traditional dishes like jerk chicken, curry goat, red peas soup, rice and peas and corn on the cob. There was also a wide range of salad and desserts. Entertainment was provided by a great steel band and later by traditional dancers and fire eaters.

The Half Moon Resort should please most people. The setting, accommodation, facilities, food and service is of a very high standard and it has everything you need for a relaxing, luxurious holiday

I am just now getting around to writing my review of Half Moon Resort......we loved this place! It was wonderfully elegant while at the same time being family friendly. The staff was wonderful and accommodating.

We were upgraded upon arrival to a room on the beach (we initially booked a junior suite). Our room was nice and spacious, we also had a living room with plently of space as well. The bathroom was very nice, HUGE shower, huge tub.....nice tiles and ameniities.

The food was delicous, particularly at the italian restaurant. The staff was very nice. We really enjoyed the outdoor music on the patio (our then 2 year old danced the night away and entertained everyone in the process).

I would recommend renting a golf cart, we had a lot of fun riding all over the resort in one. And beaches were absolutely GORGEOUS!

I observed one of the kids camps and all the kids appeared to be having great fun.

This resort is just beautiful, timeless and a classic place to visit. We will return again.
