My husband and I stayed here early February 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay. This was our first visit at a Sandals resort and it was worth every penny spent. We booked a club level room in the Kensington building which was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the nightlife that it was very quiet in the evenings. The Kensington building also has its own pool which is a nice touch. We rented a cabana one day during our stay which was nice and relaxing. We had our own butler for the day that went along with the cabana and they provided us with a cooler of drinks, sunscreen, and a phone. Whenever we wanted a drink or food all we had to do was call. We felt like royalty for the day. We also sampled all of the restaurants. Our favorite was the thai restaurant on the private island. My husband asked to speak with the chef and he created a special dish using scotch bonnet peppers as my husband loves spicy food. The service we experienced was absolutely wonderful. My only complaint for this resort is that the beach is somewhat broken up by concrete piers so it makes the beach difficult to walk if you like to stroll. However, the beach is well taken care of and most of the workers are out in the mornings and afternoons raking the washed up seaweed away. And as a side note, you will hear some plane traffic while at this resort, mainly in the afternoon. This did not bother us and after awhile we did not even notice. Take advantage of the water sports. My husband and I kayaked, snorkled, and took a hobie cat out. It is worth your time. This was truly an enjoyable and romantic vacation. We cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: Kensington Building is quiet and a little ways from most of the restaurants and nightlife.

We had a wonderful 6 night vacation. The staff was superb. Food was incredible. I like to just hang out and relax so we were by the small quiet pool the entire time but there is another pool that has activities and music if that fits your needs. If you like a large beach this isn't the place for you. The beach is very small but it is still really nice. We stayed at the Sandals in Nassau the year before and had a wonderful time but service is much better at the Royal Caribbean Resort. Overall the experience at Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island was close to perfect.

The downside:
They always ran out of beach towels daily
It did take a while to check into the room, slow process

We spent the most amazing week at the Royal.

The setting was fabulous and our room looked out onto the sandy beach. The butler Service from Andre and Sherry-Ann was amazing with breakfast on our private patio and drinks bought to any beach we went too. The evening restaurants were all 5* and we would recommend them all !

The diving each day really made our trip and a special note should be given to Brian who is by far the best diving instructor we have found anywhere in the world. Attentive and informative a great dive buddy for everyone.

We will definitely be returning to this heaven on earth.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely but if you are concerned about people looking in try not to get one directly lo...

Instead of buying each other gifts, we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary by booking a Sandals vacation through AAA. We stayed at the smaller Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. (Not to be confused with the larger Montego Bay Resort) Now I've seen the TV commercials and looked through the colorful brochures and wondered if the scenery was really like what Sandals advertised. I am here to tell you all that it is EXACTLY like what you see on TV and read in the brochures. We were both impressed by the resort in terms of the staff, food, service, and the beach was absolutely beautiful! As soon as you go through customs at the airport, there is a Sandals rep to take care of you from there. We paid extra for the beach front, ground floor room in the Windsor building. It was convenient to the water sport area, the beach of course, restaurants, bars and the cool thing about staying at this particular resort is access to Cay Island, a small private island right across the beach from the resort. You can hang out there if you want more privacy, as it has its own Thai restaurant, Bamboo Shack lunch buffet, pool with swim up bar, lounge chairs and a clothing optional beach on the backside of the island if that's your thing. It cost more than a cruise but it was worth it. Our room had a fully stocked bar with alcohol, beer, soft drinks and bottled water, truly all inclusive. We chose this resort because the beach area is small, more intimate, but you also have the Cay Island beach as well. They will bus you to the nearby Montego Bay and other resort if you want a change of pace. We stayed 6 nights total. Well worth the trip.

Room Tip: You'll pay more for beach front, ground floor...depends on what you're willing to settle for...

This was our first time at a Sandals resort. We went to the Royal Caribbean for our anniversary. We love to scuba dive and with scuba diving being included, it made Sandals very competitive with other resorts where you had to pay for your diving as well as meals and drinks. Sandals Royal Caribbean has a very nice Newton dive boat and a professional crew. They also provide instruction and PADI diver certification at an extra cost. My wife and I took advantage of this and received our "Advanced Open Water" certification while we were there. We completed the PADI eLearning prior to our arrival.

We were pampered from the start. When we reached the Sandals lounge at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay they took care of our luggage (including scuba gear), loaded us in a car and whisked us to the resort. We were brought to a special lounge where we checked in. Our butler then arrived at the lounge to give us a quick tour of the resort while our luggage was brought to our suite and gave us a cell phone to call if we needed anything at all. While we grabbed a bite to eat while our butler unpacked our luggage, neatly storing it in the drawers, closet and prepared for our suite arrival with champaign and or devours.

We chose the Walkout Swim up Crystal Lagoon Honeymoon Butler Suite for our accommodations. It was a beautiful suite with a patio in front where you could step into a small fresh water swimming lagoon that ran along the suites. We loved relaxing on our patio enjoying the great weather after a morning of diving. We also enjoyed a light breakfast on the patio each morning before we started our day. After lunch we would coordinate our dinner preferences with our butler and enjoy our time before dinner at the pool, beach, or lounges around the resort. Our butler would meet us at our suite and escort us to dinner each night. The food was excellent. We especially liked Le Jardinier and The Royal Thai restaurants. We really like Indian food and for our last evening, our butler coordinated transportation to a great local Indian restaurant (a separate review). Our butlers were outstanding providing us with more than we could asked for. On our departure they repacked our luggage and had it brought to the front of the resort.

Overall the Sandals Royal Caribbean is a great resort. A true heartfelt thank you to our butlers, Danae and Sherry-Ann, our dive instructor Brian, the boat crew and so many others who made our anniversary a truly memorable experience. We will definitely return and try other Sandals resorts as a result of our stay at Royal Caribbean Montego Bay.

This place is way over priced, the air conditioning was broke and they wouldn't fix it, the location was okay, and the wedding we attended was unorganized because SANDALS couldn't handle what they had going on. I've been to Jamaica and stayed at the Grand Palladium....amazing place and half the price. Sandals is a joke. Will never stay at one again!

This was our 10th visit to a Sandals resort (twice to this one). Everything was great as it was the first time we were there. Staff go above and beyond to help everyone. We stayed at the Clarence building, swim-up suites. These are very nice and close to everything. You won't have a view of the beach so if this is important to you get the rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor or pick another building.
Spoke to several people who were also staying here and they also had visited this resort more than once! We would also like to come back for a 3rd visit soon!!!!!
I mentioned in my last review that this resort is small everything is easy access. If you want a big resort you might look at Ocho Rios Grande.
This is a place to come relax and enjoy every single day!!!!!
