This was our 5th stay at a Sandals. I had personally stayed at this Inn in 1978 so I knew that it was a small quaint place. However, since then, the beach has changed and so has the road. Since it is now a "dead-end" road there was a lot of racing at all hours of the night. Cars go by with radios blarring and bass so loud that car alarms go off. I actually read this in someone elses review before we left and didn't really understand about the car alarm thing...well now I do. My husband can pretty well sleep through anything, but he too was bothered by the noise. Even with earplugs, I would possibly sleep between 3 a.m. when the partying would stop to about 5:30 a.m. when the locals would start coming by the beach to bathe, do laundry, etc. Our room was also located directly across from the open gym so we also had the ``die hard``athletes who were true to their fitness regime and worked out diligently EVERY morning. The sound of the machines and the loud talking to one another over the TV volume made it very difficult to get any sleep.
Thank goodness for the great staff who made you feel like family and prevented this from being the worst holiday ever. Also, the food is excellent no matter where you dined. The fact that you can easily go to any of the other resorts really helped to make our trip. Even the shuttle drivers got to know us by name. I would love to post pictures of our trip but unfortunately we hardly had any sun during the trip. We had two days of ``cloud with sunny periods``, the rest of the time was cloudy. We even had rain twice. We were very fortunate to also meet some great couples at the Carlyle. There are always others that could ruin your trip with their behaviour but they were the minority. I enjoyed the resort but could not say that I would stay there again because I`m still trying to catch up on the lost sleep.

This was our second time staying at a Sandals resort. We were married at Sandals Negril in 2004. The best thing about Sandals Inn is the staff. Elvis, Doreen, Oscar, Aleisha, Clinton, Richard and Donovan were all wonderful. And Crazy Ray provided great entertainment. We always started our day at the Inn and had a great experience. Then we would travel to Mo Bay or Royal Carribean because the beach is much better there as well as the pools are larger with pool bars also. I would recommend traveling to other resorts during the day because of the better beaches and pools, but then returning in the evening for some fun. The street next to Sandals Inn can be a little loud at times, but it did not bother us much. The restaurants at all 3 resorts were great but some do require reservations, so make sure to book right away when you arrive. We loved the private island at the Royal Carribean. Not many people go there at a time, so it is very quiet and also had the best snorkeling I found close to the shore. There is a bar there and the Royal Thai restaurant is located there. The boat that takes you to the island only takes about 3 minutes to get there, so we made several trips back and forth. We also took part in some crazy games on the beach that created some memorable moments but also won us a couple pairs of sandals necklaces. Overall it was great. If you want value and still have the option of traveling to the other resorts, then Sandals Inn cannot be beat. We loved Sandals Negril too, but it was a lot more expensive, so Sandals Inn did a great job of giving us the Jamaican experience without costing as much.

If you focus more on the Sandals commercials and brochures you would not like any of the Sandals resorts...because they are not as advertised. Staying at the Sandals Inn Carlyle was wonderful. The staff were very personable and accommodated anything that you needed. Our room and the grounds were always kept clean. Being able to go to the other resorts was great. They had shuttles that were always on time and ran on the hour. You were able to eat at any of the restaraunts. Some needed reservations but if you are like us flying by the seat of your pants..eating whenever you felt like it the best jerk chicken was at the Carlyle. The other best food was at the Royal. We ate buffet breakfast (awesome), rib eye steaks w/onion rings at the Crickets Pub (superb) and NY steak/pork chops at the Legecy (yumm). Crazy Ray was fun and exciting to be around. The best bartender was Richard so friendly and makes tasty drinks. The beach is across the street which is used by the locals. There were some noise..car alarms in such but nothing to worry about. Do take a walk down the hip strip during the day to go shopping but stay away from the craft market (you will never get out of there). The Sandals Montego Bay had the best beach if that is where you wanted to be but the best spot was going to the Royal and taking the boat to the island. Very low key and you still get to be by the ocean, eat and drink at the swim up bar. Sandals says tips are included but that is not true. So if you like your service don't be afraid to show your appreciation ($$$) to the people that take care of you.

We returned to Sandals Carlyle Inn recently, this time accompanied by our daughter & son-in-law. Once again we enjoyed the serenity and comfort of the Inn not to mention the hotel improvements made over the year. The entire staff are amazing. Cheryl & Lisa in management ,Crazy Ray the playmaker, Andrew from the restaurant, Paul the butler and, of course, the great bartenders, make your enjoyment their priority. The maid service and complimentary room service also were beyond expectations. A huge plus to this resort is the free shuttle service to visit Sandals Montego Bay & Sandals Royal Jamaican. All the dinings were fantastic......too bad we couldn't have fit them all in. As well as all of the watersports offered such as diving (we did 6 great dives), water-skiing, snorkeling, sailing, etc. We have recommended this resort to others since our first visit and will continue to do so. Thanks again for a great vacation!

This was the best holiday trip of our lives. We spent 3 weeks at the Carlyle this year and have scheduled 3 more weeks next January, and guaranteed we'll be there for 3 more weeks in 2012. We are yearly visitors to in Carlyle and each year gets better than the previous. The staff is utterly amazing, and the upgrades to the hotel are wonderful. The management, Cheryl,Lisa and Doreen are simply wonderful. They do a great job of asking for suggestions and listening to what the guests have to say. They have done a top notch job of taking it all in and making wonderful improvements to our home away from home. This was our 3rd year at the Carlyle and it means so much to us to see them taking such good care of our home. Well done ladies! Christy and I were married on the beach at the Carlyle on Feb. 6th-Robert Nesta Marley's Birthday!(you may know him as BOB). As "Couple of the Year" we can say eveyone at the Inn made our day more special than we imagined. It exceeded all of our expectations. And for that we thankyou from the bottom of our hearts. Special thanks to Cheryl,Lisa,Oscar,Rashane and especially the lovely Alicia who coordinated the affair. They are completly professional and caring through it all. They certainly take any worry out of such an important and special day. All you have to do is show up and everything is taken care of. The entire staff takes absolute care of all of us lucky enough to spend time at the Carlyle. They will go to any length to make sure your every wish comes true and every request is fullfilled. No task is too big for the staff. You will be treated like royalty, even better you'll be treated like family. As well as the staff, we've met friends from across the globe and we all return each winter for an amazing reunion. We stay in touch with one another all year round just waiting until our time together on our litttle island. We love all of you!(you know who you are):-}
Back to the Inn. The upgraded 3rd floor is absolutely beautiful. The 2nd floor is scheduled to be completed by 2011. The nighttime atmosphere at the Inn is quaint and personal. At a 52 room resort you really get to know people and appreciate the time you share. The food at the Carlyle is 1st class all the way. Make sure to book a dinner at the Carlyle restaurant early as it books quickly. Andrew will take care of the rest. Plus you have the other 2 Sandals properties in MoBay to enjoy. We usually spend our days at Sandals Montego Bay for the beach, but spend every night at the Carlyle. We think with some upcoming improvements the Carlyle will soon have the best beach of the 3 properties. As for the people who say don't go to the beach at the Inn because it is public and there are all those scary Locals there all the time, I say rubbish. Take it from someone who frequents that beach and enjoys walking the "Hip-Strip", get out there and see the town and meet the locals THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR. They are some of the nicest most genuine people you'll ever meet. But you have to leave the resorts to meet them. If you never leave the resorts your not really experiencing Jamaica are you? Take some of the tours offered by Island Routes either through the hotel(where Dalton the tour guide is awesome) We've done his Negril Tour each of our 3 years or arrange a private excursion with a private driver for a little more intamacy. But get out there and see the island, you'll be sorry you didn't. Besides who wants to lay at the pool ALL day. Jamaica is beautiful, from the land to the people, do yourself a favor and don't listen to the people who say "Don't leave your hotel, it's not safe" Get out there and explore all the beauty Jamaica has to offer. You'll be happy you did.

The staff at the Carlyle were always accommodating. We got to know them personally and enjoyed them tremendously! The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The night life was a lot of fun! I missed the Carlyle from the very minute we left.

If you like a property that is smaller then the large resorts but still a a great palce to stay, then the Inn is for you. The property is very charming and the staff really make your stay memorable. From the moment you arrive, to the moment you leave you truly get treated well. You get a complete private explanation of the property once you arrive unlike the other were there maybe 20 or more people. The room service was wonderful as was the house keeping staff that made your room and turned down your bed every day and night. The third floor is totally remodeled so those rooms have much more to offer.but i am told the rest of hotel will be remodeled too. If you are not a good solid sleeper the the street noise and music may bother you depending where your room is located but we personally like the sounds but i was told you hear noise at the other properties too, they just come from the guests. Also there really is not much of a beach there but swimming and hot tub no problem. If you want to go off property every half hour a shuttle comes and picks you up to take you to any of the sandals properties on Mobay. This is great because you can experience everything at those places and feel like your returning home at night at the INN. Donovan is by far the best bell hop I have ever met. He is constanly making sure that you are happy and checking if you need anything. Dont hesitate to ask him, the answer is always Ya mon no problem!!! All of the staff at the Inn work crazy hours and truly love the guests. Crazy Ray DOES a little bit of everything, his A game is always on.. We loved the Inn and highly recommend it but it is not for everyone.
