My friend and I stayed at Sea Garden for the Easter holiday. The staff (from the bellman, bartenders, waiters and waitresses, chef, entertainment crew, security and gateman) we found to be very friendly and concern about our welfare. The pastry we noticed was freshly baked daily. The hot water takes some time to come on in the shower. Our main concern though was as a Jamaican-owned hotel, there wasn't much Jamaican dishes served each day, (Jerked pork, chicken, ackee and salfish, etc). The menu consist mainly of the same dishes each day.The liquors at the bar was limited to a few brands.

A snack/soda machine could be available also for guest to purchase these items whenever the need arises.

spent a week at the seagarden late march/early april. a very small resort, 140 rooms and a real gem. hopefully when renovation/expansion to 300 rooms is completed the hotel will still maintain the wonderfully friendly and caring approach that we felt throughout our week.
accommodations were fine, beach small but nice with beach bar, and fair sized pool with pool bar.
highlights were the food and the great staff. too many to mention but special thanks to the bartenders at beach and pool bar, stainton, cory and shaman.
at first glance some may be disappointed with the food selection. don't run to the management when you don't see eggs at the breakfast buffet! you can order them any way you like from your waiter. selection at lunch and dinner wasn't extensive, but something there for all tastes. the quality of preparation was the key. everything we tried was hot, and very tasty. jamaica food night on friday was delicious.
the food was better than the 4 1/2 star we usually stay at in jamaica. better selection there, but often not very hot and sometimes not that well prepared.
hotel is only five minutes from the airport and at the end of the 'hip strip'. it seemed very safe in this area, even at night.
bought a jamaican pay as you go cel phone for $25 including 100 anywhere talk minutes and 200 texts. easy to top up when free stuff used and at 3 cents a min to canada, usa and uk, and 4 cents per text it was great value for money.

We have just returned from our trip this Easter to Sea Garden and we were MORE than pleasantly surprised with the resort. (Remember these names: Shenica in the dining room, Stainton at the beach bar and Lenroy a private driver we and other friends hired repeatedly who DOES NOT work for the hotel....amazing man) ask for him at the security gate!
I actually picked this resort based on price and pasted reviews! It was the reviews that sold us and we were happy that we listened to pasted clients.
The propery is a large one that has been closed for the past 16 years and has just reopened Dec. of 2013. The area by the pool and the taller tower by the road is what is in use right now. They clearly are working on other parts of the hotel and hope to have those operational soon. It will be a gem once finished and they are going about it the right way...with customer service first!

We stayed above the pool area to the side of the bar. Our room was spotless: had a large king sized bed, 2 night tables, a bureau and an open closet to store hanging items (plenty of hangers) and space for luggage. Bathroom was kind of small. Had a few issues with hot water (too hot) but when we tried again later and it was fine. NO PHONE despite daily requests! If you go it to this resort expecting a Sandals then you need to readjust you star rating when you search for your vacation as this place is not meant for you! If you can just roll with the smaller things then you will be more than glad you came. Our room had a crazy wake up service in the morning... at about 5:00 am the rooster from God knows where would begin his morning serenade! Lol...problem solved with a nap on the beach later! Friends of ours staying in the tower facing the ocean dealt with road noise...so I guess I'll take nature instead!

Food was good. One dinning room, which offered several selections for the meals and was changed up daily. Also had an a la carte (did not attend so I can speak about that). Great burgers at the beach bar and best bartender ever :) Was nice that you did not have to come up from the beach if you wanted to linger at the beach for the day. Beach was a nice private beach. Smaller in size not the kind you walk up and down but beautiful nontheless!
Walking distance to the "Hip Strip", Doctors cave beach ($ for entrance but great big beach) and MargarittaVille (slide from the 3rd floor of the restaurant into the ocean! Cool!) the locals will ask you/bug about stopping o see their shops or what they have made...you need to say no thank you. Don't stop to chat... No thank you and sorry no thank you! If you say later they will bug you on the way back again because now it is later!!!! :) if you say no thank you and keep walking they will leave you alone especially as there are tons of Tourist police along the strip.

IMPORTANT THINGS I'm glad we learned and I think are valuable to those of you travelling here...if you are travelling with younger children this would not be the place for you. There is not enought things for them to do. The activities crew (T-Rex and clan are amazing I watched him all week with a girl, about 12, keep her busy playing with her in the pool and involving her in board games etc, but she was the only kid there and I imagine it was hard for them both!) they just don't have the things little ones are looking to do...building sandal castles can only take up so much of your day!
I am soooooo glad we learned about LENROY. The travel company you book with will tell you repeatedly not to book with anyone else other than them...and if they don't have the tour you are looking for they will pass you along the food chain to the next travel operator and finally the hotel. It is no wonder the try to steer you away from using the locales...they make great money off the tourists who just don't know! They do not tell you that not only is it SAFER to hire these drivers but FAR FAR cheaper. We joined another couple in a 6 seater of Lenroys and had him for the full day. Not only did he suggest places but took us to where we wanted to go (Ochos Rios-Dunns river) for the day for a fraction of the price the tour companies offered! Keep in mind when we got there with him we beat the crouds and we did not have to spend hours picking up people at the beginning of our day to drop all those people off at the end wasting most of your day!!! He would watch over our belongings (other tour operators will not let you leave stuff in the vehicles and thus it forces you to stand in long lines and rent lockers!) Lenroy also would walk with us places and it felt very safe but more importantly personalized. He would always say our day ends when you want it to!

We can't wait to visit Jamica again and look forward to returning to Seagarden! We will be back!
Much love from Canada!

The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate the group that I was with.
The food was very good and the pastry was delightful. Hotel security was very friendly and prevented any outsiders from infringing upon the hotel's private beach. I intend to bring a small group back to this hotel because it exceeded our expectations.

The Seagarden Beach Resort is a quaint, clean, and fairly quiet resort.

Most staff are friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Kevaughan, the bell boy, the day staff at the front desk, the entertainment staff, the buffet staff, and the beach staff who helped make our trip so pleasant.

As previously mentioned, the food selection is somewhat limited but always delicious. Our only issue was overeating.

The beach is small but never overcrowded. The swimming area is like a large ocean pool. There is no undercurrent and I always felt safe swimming there. If you go past the roped off area make sure that you wear water shoes although you will not need them in the roped in area.

Our only issue was being constantly harassed by the local people when you go off resort. They can be relentless. Again, this is outside of the resorts control. The resort is within walking distance to the "Hip Strip" but there is a nice gift shop within the resort. It is a bit pricier then the strip but it is very convenient.

There is a beautiful view of the sunset from the beach. There is as well a beautiful sunrise from the pool view rooms facing the hillside.

The resort is still a work in progress and will only get better.

We had a late flight and arrived at the resort 30 mins before the dinner was to be served.
The staff was amazing and we were immediately greeting by Kevon( later we would realize it was actually Kevaughn as I thought ) with a courteous smile and offer getting us beverages for we must be thirsty from the plain ride.
We got a nice pool side balcony view and the room was large, even though we spent most of the vacation by the beach and the sun it was nice to have a great room to come back to and relax in before heading out on the adventures.
This was the first trip together to Jamaica and it was amazing and the staff was very knowledgeable on what to see and where to go.
Must say great place and Percy was also an amazing greeter whenever we went to our room. I suggest to take full advantage of the pool side bar and the food service pool side if you enjoy just relaxing.

Ya mon everyting IRIE

We stayed at the Seagarden from Apr. 12 - 19th and absolutely loved everything about the resort. After a 5 min drive from the airport, a quick welcome beverage and we were off to the lovely little beach. Yes, it's across the street but that's not a big deal as there's a crossing guard to stop traffic every time. Plus the beach is like a big salt water pool, we loved it and spent most of our time there. The beach bar is great and Stainton does a wonderful job making great drinks and entertaining all. If you don't want to leave the beach for lunch you just ask Stainton for a burger and fries and a waiter will deliver it to your lounger on the beach! The food was always delicious, the staff was top notch, and the grounds were lovely. It's a very small resort but we like that and it's old world charm. We had an ocean view room and yes there is noise from the street but we felt it added to our Jamaican experience. We met wonderful new friends at the Seagarden with whom we hired Pablo to take us to Negril. We highly recommend Pablo....felt very safe with him and he gave us a great tour. Hope to return someday.
