“Perfect Vacation”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

After a long cold winter, we were so ready for this trip and it exceeded our expectations. Delicious meals, breathtaking sunset, beautiful calm beach and exemplary staff all contributed to make this one truly best vacation ever. We like to make special mention to the following staff of the Oasis.. Lorna Clarke, Operation Manager - truly posses that people skills, she has gone beyond the call of duty to meet our needs. Clarisse..our housekeeper even with so much rooms to attend to day in and day out, she always kept that smile and her attentiveness to our needs is truly appreciated. Our room was kept clean. Renee..front desk reception, very pleasing personality and sincere to what she does.
Overall, our stay at the Oasis was an unforgettable experience.

Room Tip: Choose the East wing.

We stayed at the Oasis at Sunset the 3rd week of February. Overall the service was good. Roland was our main guy and was very helpful and an absolute pleasure to deal with. We found that he was the one particularly who made things happen for us - whether it be booking a restaurant or attending to any of our requests. He personally delivered a bottle opener to our room on the first night, and also tried to help us print our return travel documents as there was no other facility to print at the resort. The other rep's were not as helpful, and besides being polite, didn't really address any of our requests even after follow-up which was an annoyance while on vacation. When you experience that and have someone do the opposite and deliver great customer service as Roland did it really makes an amazing impression.

The rooms were OK (3.5), and the WIFI was hit and miss. It would be great it they make the WIFI more user friendly and easier to access. We were trying to upgrade our room or change to one on the 1st floor so we wouldn't have to carry our stroller up and down the stairs, but it was not so easy, and we didn't get "comped" like we were hoping to be.

We dined often at the Sunset side, and found little difference between the quality of the food compared to the restaurant at the Oasis side besides the beautiful ambiance. However, it often took too long for the food to arrive at the Oasis restaurant,

We were travelling with an infant, and found all the staff both at the Oasis and Sunset side to be amazingly warm and friendly. I would stay here again with kids and recommend the resort.

Suggestions
- if you're stocking the fridge with beer that can't be easily opened by hand please provide a bottle opener in each room.
- without tip the bar fridge is not replenished (eg with coke-a-cola, or whatever you use most)

* Take the shopping trip, and help out the locals at the last stop.

Our room was situated in the East side, and we enjoyed true peace and quiet for reading, walking outdoors, swimming, and suntanning on the beach. The other features of OASIS that we enjoyed were the wonderful service and well prepared and served food at the Terrace a la carte restaurant. We aren't people who expect to be served all the time, but we luxuriated in constant service-with-a-smile at OASIS. If guests' attitude is a positive one instead of a mindset of entitlement "just because we paid," their experience at OASIS will be of a mini-paradise. Of course, guests at resorts and hotels can always find things to complain about, but in our experience, complaining would be out of order at this special resort, where those in charge are genuinely out to help their guests have a good time.
We're an older couple and don't have kids anymore, but it struck us that this resort's waterpark would be great for kids. OASIS was set up to offer a good time to persons of every generation.
If you have a walking disability, be sure to insist on a ground floor room. They will provide that for you.

Room Tip: Peace and quiet -- the East side Any walking disability -- ground floor

Nothing sets the Sunset Grande Hotel & Sunset Oasis apart other than an A la Carte repetitive menu. After staying there for 4 days we discovered that you pay more for
the Sunset Oasis which is actually dis similar to the Sunset Grande. Don't be deceived by the warm welcoming front of house staff and newly built entrance on arrival.
Don't get me wrong the service from some of the staff was ok, not particularly Nadine & Lorna. Who after a few days become very unprofessional. And in my opinion mixed personal with professional. Not good!!!

The A la Carte menu is very bland, tasteless and in my opinion doesn't give you a traditional Jamaican experience (if thats what you require). The rooms are tiny and the only thing that sets them apart from the Grande is a lick of fresh paint and a few plants here and there. The sewage system in the room smells appalling and after asking housekeeping to bleach the toilets several time. I realised it was the sewers!

The main disco room smells like sick which doesn't entice you to stay in there and enjoy the rest of your evening. The lady who works in the casino is an absolute star!

On a whole if you have high standards and you want to get exactly what you pay for. DON'T STAY HERE! It's not good value for money!!!!
I travel a lot and stay in many hotels and this is not a place I will be revisiting. It is a real shame as this experience ruined my whole families holiday and we went by previous reviews on trip advisor. Each to their own!

I do hope some of the staff have some in house training to improve their customer service skills and the food improves over time. The menu needs to change on a daily basis. It's boring having the same food day in day out. You need to make sure that people are getting something completely different in Oasis in comparison to those in the main hotel. As there is a huge price difference, for what?! A la carte, no room service and fresh paint!

I was told I was going to get 5 star treatment on arrival, unfortunately this wasn't the case!

This was our second time at this resort. Our first visit two years ago we stayed in a cabana beach front room in the west wing. Loved being steps from the beach. This year we were in the east wing which was very quiet. The upgrade to the Oasis showed in the amazing service from all staff. Everyone was always happy to see you and would do whatever was needed to make your stay memorable. The reason we returned to this resort was the private beach area. It is quiet and peaceful, and now has bar service, bottle water and clean towels, thanks Thereeena. The beach is well maintained every day, thanks Vinston Brown for your dedication.
The Terrace restaurant was very good. There was enough options so you were never bored. We ate mainly at the Terrace but did try the other a la cartes but always came back. The jerk chicken at the snack bar is very good and is a must to try.
The rooms are very basic but clean. And yes the bathrooms are small but we do not spend much time in our room so they were not a priority. The balconies are a nice size and we enjoyed sitting outside overlooking the beach.
The entertainement was not as good as other resorts but the Oasis always had supper entertainment which was very good. We especially enjoyed Frank on Sat. and Sun. at the Oasis and Wed. and Fri. in the main lobby. We were very pleased to see Frank again as we enjoyed him so much two years ago. He is an amazing pianist and we enjoyed interacting with him.
From the moment we stepped out of the shuttle to the moment we left, the staff was amazing! A very special thank you to Shaudae, Fabian, Andrew, Omar, Marley, Judi-Ann, Carole, Albert, Paul, Ernest, Chrystal, Tanesha Clarke, and of course, the lovely Miss. Walters! Also, a thank you to all the maintenance staff who were always cleaning, painting, and gardening, you are appreciated!

Spent Feb 12-21st at the Oasis at sunset resort. Had been following the comments for the resort prior to going as it had just opened as a "couples only" resort in December. Read a lot of great reviews that I found very helpful and dead on! From the minute we checked in to the minute we left we were treated "like royalty" there was no task that was too difficult, and any situation we had was handled immediately (air conditioner leaked- fixed within the hour!). The front desk (all of them!!! )Were so accommodating with any questions, concerns or booking excursions. Albert met us every breakfast, and lunch with a hand shake, hug and a warm welcome and smile. Into the evening we were greeted and dined listening to violins, acoustic guitar, piano, steel drums, and even a country singer who was amazing!! The serving staff were so kind and courteous a pleasure, and greeted us by name when we went!!! The menu with its options of steak and shrimp, cho cho squash (my husband is vegetarian) and the eggs benedict, and banana pancakes.... were exceptional! Conrad met with us and made my husband a couple of vegetarian dishes that were not on the menu. Very accommodating if you give him at least a days notice! Renovations were being done while we were there, but so subtle that we barely noticed. The private beach is a haven :) A new restaurant, bar (sports) with leather couches and big screen TV were almost ready to be open when we left. They even opened up the "sports bar" to accommodate the Canadians who were there to allow them to see the Gold medal game on the big screen!! Now that is hospitality!!! There were also areas being cleared for a private pool by the beach. Hopefully not too many changes, as we loved the quaint homey feeling of the resort. So if you are looking for a destination to allow you to RELAX, be treated great, kayak, snorkel, peddle boat, walk on a nice private beach, lay in the sun and have amazing meals... look not further than the Oasis at Sunset, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a more quiet stay choose the east side! Recommend the ocean view suites - we...

This was our fifth trip to Sunset Beach Resort and this time we decided to make reservations for The Oasis based upon previous reviews. And we were delighted. From arrival to departure we had nothing but excellent service wrapped in warmth.
The following personnel made us feel like a King and Queen; Andrew, Terrance, Denise, Judy, Reneese, Maurice, Leo, Shardue, Denisha, Elija, and in particular Kerry Ann. Kerry Ann went out of her way to bring mint from her neighbor to the bartender so he could make a Mojito for my wife who only drinks them on vacation. Once this Mojito was made others saw and swamped the bar for Mojitos. Elija told us after this he was going to add Mojitos to the bar menu. That simple act was remarkable to go out of their way to accommodate a guest. There were many other small acts like this that showed their eagerness to ensure enjoyment for their guests.
The Terrance Restaurant was great but to receive your food order one must be very patient. Our room was very comfortable, clean and the bed was firm which was great. Two minor issues we had were taken care in a timely manner. No problem Mon. Overall we had a great 5 days at this resort and highly recommend it to others.

Room Tip: For peace and quiet choose the east side. If you have children choose the west side next to the wate...
