Description: Indian cuisine is tastefully unique and incredibly varied. Evolving over many centuries,it reflects staggering diversity of a country whose food encompasses the cooking techniques of many nationalities and cultures. A vast spectrum of flavours is created by the judicious and inventive use of spices resulting in a world renouned and truly delicious cuisine. Perhaps the most elaborate dishes come from the north, which was inherited from the Mughals, who invaded India from Persia in the 16th century. Many Moghali dishes such as pulaos (pilifs) and biryanis (rice, meat and spices creations) are rich and lavish due to the ingredients used. Other Indian specialties include kebabs and tandoori dishes, which are cooked in a special clay pot, called a tandoor. What links a country whose cuisine is varied and diverse from region to region due to its language, culture and climate is a common denominator of Indian hospitality and graciousness. Here at Passage to India, as your host, we are committed to providing you, our guests, with just that and making your dining experience with us a truly memorable and enjoyable one.

We went twice for the lunch special - a Thali dish with nan, rice, dhal, tandoori chicken (or veg) and a main dish. We had Goanese chicken which was great. The food was good quality, freshly cooked and very tasty. The food was hot - so many restaurants serve tepid food - and good sized portions. All in all, great food, good value and a nice view from this second floor open air restaurant. The best Indian food we have tasted in the region for quite some time.

This really was an excellent curry, we both agreed one of the best we've had. Lovely waitress and quite a pretty restaurant compared to most in ocho rios centre. We had. Lovely evening but had 3 dishes and 2 drinks and it was about £75. It seemed a lot to us and were from London which is pretty pricey but it aw delicious.

We ate 3 times at passage during this trip. it is located in the centre of ocho close to the farmers market.
we ate the vagetarian fare each time. absolutely loved the okra masala (masaledar bhindi). the lassi was pretty good as was the roti and naan
the paneer dishes were a little less flavorful as compared to the okra dish. The dal dishes (dal makhni in particular) were really good.
overall we enjoyed the food very much.
the quantity was more than adequate for hubby and me so much so that we were able to take some back to the resort at night.

no buffet

We got sick of the resort food so walked over here. The service was nice and the place is cute on the rooftop of a building of shops. We ordered two appetizers for lunch: garlic shrimp and tandoori wings. Garlic shrimp was ok but the wings.. my goodness! DELICIOUS! We complained how long the food took, but after we tasted these bad boys.. we understood. They were THE BEST wings we have ever had. I haven’t had tandoori flavored wings before and have been on the hunt of somewhere that has it in Chicago. Not having any luck, so will try to make it at home. All in all, food is good but very overpriced. I think our bill was $40 with tip for two appetizers and no drinks.

cute rooftop restaurant in one of ocho rios shopping plazas (soni Plaza).
we went there for dinner and really enjoyed it!!
the location is very clean an cozy, the waitress was very friendly and quick.
we had one apetitzer and two maincourses with rice and garlic naan as side orders, the dishes tasted delicious and fresh. the maincourses are between 10-15 US$ (the rate for lobster was about 30US$), absolutely ok for a reataurant in a tourism center...
i would love to go there aga in but we have to leave ocho rios tomorrow :

so if you are looking for an alternative dinner option To jerk chicken etc. the "passage to india" is the place to be!!
