“The White Suite offered an incomparable experience”
Reviewed 17 July 2010

We had to make last minute changes to our vacation when Sandals called us to cancel our reservations 10 days before our departure date! Frantically, I began looking for viable options that could take us for the same dates, as our airfare was nonrefundable. After what seemed like an endless selection of unappealing options, I found the Jamaica Inn through Trip Advisor, and from the first moment, I knew it was everything I had dreamt of. The staff was very accommodating, and booked us on the Honeymoon package with such very short notice. We spent the first 3 days of our trip in the White Suite, which was an incredibly historic and aesthetically pleasing compound which included its own step ladder into the sea, private pool, and incredible location. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend staying in any place other than this room. It had been previously booked for the second half of our stay (due to the last minute notice) and we were moved to the comparably priced yet inferior cottages. Although we had the best cottage, which came with an infinity pool looking out onto to the ocean, outdoor shower, and more modernized accomodations, we had trouble enjoying them as the location was plagued by mosquitos.
The service was good throughout the week, although we found it to be better in the White Suite- possibly because it is closer to the main buildings and restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and helpful- particularly the front desk, who set up all of our sightseeing excursions for us. The food is very high quality- I would rate it on par with some of the better restaurants I have eaten in- however, they do tend to focus their energy on dinner- the breakfast and in-between menus were more mediocre. The chef does an amazing job of incorporating local Jamaican flavor and traditions into an elegant fusion cuisine.
Overall, I would say that the service is of a quality I rarely see anymore, and there is a very familial atmosphere- when my husband and I spent most of the time in our room, everyone commented that they never saw us and missed us at the evening cocktail hour. The accomodations in the premiere suites looked somewhat small, although all are pleasantly situated, and the classic, azure building is soothing in itself. Another bonus for us about this hotel was the quiet atmosphere- we were happy to avoid the crazed partying and tacky atmosphere of most of the other resorts we saw while there, and happy that the room didn't include a TV or computer access, so we could really re-connect and enjoy each other. One downside if you are looking to work out- the "Fitness Center" is somewhat of an afterthought which is really hidden in a converted suite with one treadmill, one elliptical, and a few weights. Also, it isn't air conditioned! My husband and I tried to work out once or twice but gave up!

Believe the brochure pictures and all the reviews that rate this "second home" excellent! we just returned from 6 days there, and didn't want to leave. From our private driver Cecil who was wonderful and made what could have a somewhat long drive from Montego Bay airport breeze by, to Mary and her puppies Zion and IandI greeting us, to the rest of the staff throughout the week. We have been to the Four Season, Nevis, and this topped that experience by a mile. The food was amazing, and we highly recommend getting room service for dinner, if just to experience Carter bringing course by course, all balanced amazingly on his head. And to top it off, the couples massage overlooking a bluff with an amazing view was the best that we've ever had.
Kudos to all our new friends at the Jamaica Inn. Thanks for making us truly feel like we were at our second home for a week, and for making us long to return as soon as possible!

I would call myself a fussy traveler whose sets exspectations a bit high. The Jamaica Inn exceeded all expectations....and beyond. The moment we first arrived I immediately understood their motto of "Welcome Home". We felt as if we were truly home and were priviledged to have experienced this magnificant paradise. Each and every staff member -starting with Mary, the Manager of this incredible place,(and her two precious ones Ini and Zion) the reception, every server, bar staff, housekeeping, groundskeepers - everyone we came in contact with - were the most gracious, welcoming and warm people who all work so very hard - yet naturally - at making a holiday absolutely perfect. The grounds were meticulous, the beach tidied to perfection every morning where the water was crystal clear and of the perfect temperature, the rooms imaculate, everything well maintained, We stayed in the Blue Cottage, a stand alone very large room beachfront with a spectacular veranda that is furnished as a living room. There are no rooms here that don't have a perfect view - each and every one opens to beach. We enjoyed room service on our veranda every day; and Winston who prepared our beach chairs and towels every morning, and Georgia and Rupert who were sure to bring us of their most fabulous Planters Punch at 11 am on the beach. Rupert also was sure to bring our pre-dinner cocktail to our room every evening - after we ordered one time and never having to order again! He was a delightful beautiful person. Desmond was our exceptional evening server and took so very good care of us. The menu was wonderful and changed every day. Maybe when we return next year we'll actually leave this paradise to explore Ocho!!!

The service and rooms were great. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The beautiful views are to die for. Although the all-inclusive package was a little expensive the food, service and accomodations was well worth it.

This hotel was just superb. An amazing old world charm with a superb staff. We stayed in Cottage One which was our own private villa, steps away from the beach and an infinity pool there in our room. One of the best vacations I have ever had. Swimming in the beach was like swimming in a private aquarium. The food at the restaurant is great and the hotel stafff accomodated our every wish. They made sure we were able to visit local attractions with ease. We swam with dolphins and climbed Dunn's River. We ate amazing food, and relaxed in a superb atmosphere. I set a very high standard for hotels and Jamaica Inn surpassed them all. Go there, and go now!!

My wife and I stayed recently stayed at the Jamaica Inn for 7days. From the moment we walked in we felt valued and pampered. If you are after a location with amazing views, white sands and blue beaches then this is certainly your spot. The service is exceptional and without a doubt the quality of food would be the best in Ocho Rios.

The hotel is classy and stylish, with old world charm, yet is casual and cool. Every experience has been perfect from the beautiful breakfast served over the terrace overlooking the ocean in the mornings to the cocktails served in the main bar over sunset. Our most memorable experiences:

* Sitting back in our deck chair on the private beach enjoying cocktails from the beach bar
* Chatting with Teddy and Rupert (Beach Bar staff) and enjoying many games of competitive croquette
* Kayaking and sailing on the Sunfish (thank you Albert)
* Fishing with Tony (we only caught a 1kg tuna, but it was worth it)
* Eating the fish we caught at the restaurant, thanks to the Chef
* Warm greetings from the reception staff (special mention to Joseph and Petrina, who were amazing and always went out of their way to assist us "no problem mon")
* Relaxing on our verandah and within our lovely room

Thank you to all the fantastic staff. We cannot wait to come back to the hotel very soon.

Reggie & Michelle

I cannot say enough about the service at the Jamaica Inn. From the pick-up at the airport, the polite welcome at the desk from Charlene, to the explanation of the air conditioning by Fitzroy, it was an indication to me that I would be treated like royalty. And I was so right. Charlene even showed me some of the cottages when they were being "turned over". They are fantastic. She also asked the head gardener, Weston Henry, to give me a tour. He really knows his stuff - every detail about every single one of the over 200 varieties of plants on the property. He seems to love his job . it shows. We had room #18 and loved the water view of the crescent leading to some homes and 3 other hotels in the distance. It was COMPLETELY private as we sat in our spacious open air living room. Since this wing sits directly at the edge of ironshore, one can feed bread to the little fish. The beach was also very accessible to our room, however. The lounge chairs were very comfortable, and palapas were available. The water is clean here. There is a lovely long, private beach just for Jamaica Inn guests. We liked the food too, and met some interesting people at the Tuesday night cocktail party. I highly recommend this hotel for a quiet, relaxing get-a-way. If you want activities, this isn't the place for you. There isn't a lot to do here, but you can go to town, Dunn's River Falls, etc., and Charlene or someone else at the desk will arrange everything for you. My husband and I can't say enough good things about the Jamaica Inn.
