What a wonderful time we had staying in the Seaside Cottage at Te Mona! We would go back in a heartbeat and stay here again!!
As two adults visiting Jamaica for the first time, we fell in love with this coastal cottage. We instantly felt relaxed and right at home. With 2 bathrooms, a huge bedroom, living area, kitchen, and backyard - there would have been plenty of room for a couple more adults or a family with kids, but we were happy to have so much space all to ourselves. We stocked up the kitchen and made our own meals for the most part, but did adventure out to try a couple of the local restaurants. When we arrived,we received the grand tour to get acquainted with the cottage and property. Everything was very clean and they provided everything we needed for the duration of our stay (including cooking utensils).
We had access to local information, plenty of books, board games, beach towels, snorkeling equipment, and kayaks any time we wanted. With a short path leading down to quaint cove and the ocean-side dock, the location was just perfect. We swam and snorkeled in the ocean, then laid out on the dock to dry, then walked back up to our cottage to nap in the hammocks or prepare an afternoon snack.
Peter & Annabella and their staff were extremely helpful, welcoming, and informative. If ever we had any questions or needed a recommendation, we didn't hesitate to walk over to their home and ask.
We would happily recommend staying at the Seaside Cottage at Te Mona to anyone who wants to rent a comfortable place to stay in Ocho Rios and feel at home! It was *perfect* for us! We hope to come back and visit again very soon!

Te Moana is pure paradise! Peter and Annabelle are wonderful people and are very helpful, but not intrusive at all! You get to experience the real Jamaica, being in the midst of Ocho Rios, in a safe and beautful homestead, complete with native fruit for your breakfast or cocktails! If you really want to get away from it all, Te Moana is the place, not your cookie cutter resort!

My stay at Te Moana was wonderful! From start to finish it was a little treasure that I am glad that I found. I am hoping to return and book to stay there again. Hospitable, courteous and down to earth. They gave me a wonderful gift that I now have in my living room to remind me of the time at Te Moana. Hopefully many more visits to come. :)

Simply amazing, though there are many, many great pictures, they don't do it justice. The peace, tranquility, charm, and amazing hospitality that come along with it, are hard to capture in one photo. We can't say enough about the cottage, the property and the wonderful owners, Peter & Annabella. There's also very friendly and well behaved dogs on the property as well as the resident cat of the seaside cottage, perfectly named: Kayak, who is very gracious to share the cottage patio with you. We will definately be back.

Had a romantic stay with my girlfriend for eight nights at Te Mona. Truly wonderful. Loved everything about it. Very reasonable in cost, too. Almost hate to share about it as it is so good one worries about it getting too well known. :-) Down a dirt lane off a main road outside Ocho Rios, it is a funky, very cool and impeccably clean cottage on the sea. The owners Peter and Annabella are very nice and are collectors of Jamaican self taught art with a local studio (Harmony Hall - definitely worth a visit). Peter has a really great English sense of humor - just watching and listening to him as he makes little asides and comments is a delight in itself. Very funny and great to be around. The bedroom is on the second floor with open air windows with shutters and a standing area porch. There is an open air (covered porch) outside eating and sitting area along with an inside dining table and a nicely equipped kitchen. We ate every meal there (except for a couple lunches and a couple dinners) at Te Mona outside. Splendid view of the sea and a very nice garden and outside. A Jamaican woman Annette. is the resident helper on site - she is a really wonderful and kind hearted person and we hired her to make us a couple traditional Jamaican dinners (her curry chicken is truly amazing). Nearby is a local takeout restaurant named "Soldiers" (within easy walking distance) where we also bought a number of our breakfasts (ackee and codfish with vegetables and fruits) and a couple dinners. Soldiers always had Jamaicans buying food there. A world class Italian restaurant - Toscanini - will also pick you up (don't miss it - you will not regret going there and it was a highlight of our trip). At night you sleep to the sounds of the ocean at Te Mona. There are four dogs next door at Peter and Annabella's (three are great but watch out for the brown dog Coco, who nips a bit). A resident cat named Kayak also appears to claim the cottage. Very good local beaches are easy to get to - we used route taxis all week - favorite beaches were James Bond Beach and Shaw Park Beach. Reggae Beach is nice but is a real rip off cost wise. A great local place for patties is Juici Patties (about $1 each). The General Foods Supermarket has everything you need (we even bought lobster tails there twice at about $10 a pound). The local market is for the braver but worth it (bring home Jamaican pimento and spices for jerk purchased there). On Saturdays, Solomon comes by in a pickup truck with a very good collection of root veggies, veggies, fruits, etc. We cooked several times on site and Annette helped me (finally) perfect my rice and peas. They have a coffee grinder and a French Press for the Jamaican coffee you will want to make (Blue Mountain and the almost as good but much cheaper High Mountain beans). As far as drink, personally I drank Guinness Foreign Extra Stout all week but we also had some wine and some coconut rum. Local herbs are also available around, of course. I almost forgot my favorite part - the reef right outside the cottage is a very good reef and I snorkeled in it for a couple hours every day (they have good snorkeling equipment on site but I brought mine). Living hard and soft corals os several varieties. Stingrays, a plethora of the standard and quite beautiful and interesting Caribean reef fish (some beaches in Jamaica have few fish - not the one here), trumpet fish, a few octopuses, a few moray and reef eels and occasionally a larger fish or school a bit further out. I even saw a lionfish (which have begun to infiltrate the Caribean believe it or not). As I said, a very good and very colorful reef. Very beautiful spot. Great place for a romantic getaway. Would also be good for adventuresome kids. They have a tv - don't turn it on. There is a radio for Irie fm. A cool Jamaican town nearby worth a visit is Oracabessa (couple bucks via route taxi) - eat lunch at Susies Restaurant while you are there and order the chicken (they have three or four things on the menu and I bet they have chicken every day). Why anyone would go to Jamaica and ever want to stay in an all inclusive is beyond me. Don't go to the tourist crap traps like Margaritaville or even the crowded and overrated Dunn's River - experience the real Jamaica. Eat local, talk to the locals and soak up the warmth of the sun and the people.
Highly recommended place to stay on all accounts.
