“Incredible vault for the experience of a lifetime”
Reviewed 21 July 2013 for a stay in June 2013

My wife and I recently went to Jamaica and stayed at Eden Sands Villa. We were amazed at how clean and accommodating the property was. It also came with our own cook Mrs.B who ended up giving us inside tips to what Jamaica really has to offer. So much of a more richful experience than your typical resort. It was comical that all the resort snorkle trips people pay to go on was only 20 meters straight out from our privtae beach. We literally could swim out and snorkle at our own leisure. Security was also provided, but wasn't really needed as we felt safe after the first night. Would highly recommend this villa to anyone traveling to Ochos Rio

“True Paradise”
Reviewed 22 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

I traveled to Jamaica for the first time solo. When I arrived to this beautiful home, I was speechless when I saw the beautiful ocean right at my door step. It was my own private paradise. I had the beach to myself and I experienced tranquility every day of my stay. The house is secure and walking distance to the town. It is about 15 minutes to Dunns River Falls and the location is great. There are plenty of tours offered in the vicinity or if you prefer to stay in one place and relax, this is the place to do that. This lovely beach house is immaculate, with all the modern amenities, and it is perfect for families, couples, or just one person. I enjoyed authentic Jamaican food every day provided by the most wonderful cook. I felt like I had everything I needed and I just wanted to stay in one place. The owners are lovely people who have succeeded in providing a beautiful home in paradise. I will definitely return.

“Excellent trip with family, hospitality like great family”
Reviewed 29 November 2012 for a stay in April 2012

Finally getting back to trip advisor after returning from jamaica in April. I wanted a more personal and less resort like stay for our family trip with myself, my husband, mom, and 7year old son. Eden sands was exactly that, we were so warmly welcomed and provided every comfort while at the beach house. Miss Barbara the cook and housekeeper and her son Really catered to us, doing the shopping, taking us shopping (shopping areas only minutes from house, you never guess though, location is very comfortably quite), cooking wonderful meals or recommending the best local cuisine. Also helping with booking attractions, recommending things to do. It was so nice to get up every morning to walk a few feet to the beach and go swimming, watch cruise ships come in or party boats passing occasionally, also scuba diving right out front. Nathan was a very good and helpful host in helping us book his beach house, getting settled and stopping in to say hi once in a while.

Nathan so would have assisted us in our traveling from airport, etc, but we had an acquaintance from our town recommend a cab driver to us, Donovan with jutta tours, he was exceptional in catering to all our outings, shopping, picking us up from airport, and taking us back.
Great time, great private beach house if you really want to enjoy Jamaica without the all inclusive tourist hustle. I recommend to friends all the time and will likely return.

Happy holidays!

“Perfect accommodations and hospitality”
Reviewed 6 March 2012 for a stay in February 2012

We were looking for a place in Ocho Rios that could comfortably accommodate two adults and 3 children, ages 20, 18 and 11. Since we like to get out and experience local culture, all-inclusives are not that appealing. There are many condos in Ochi to choose from, but none of them seemed to be that close to the beach. Eden Sands kept coming up in my TripAdvisor searches so we decided to try it out for 6 nights. It was the best choice we could have made.

From the outset, Eden Sands seemed like the best of all worlds: fully remodeled accommodations (with its own housekeeper/chef – more on that later), white sand beach (with snorkeling reef 300 yards offshore), and just 5 minutes by foot from the center of town. While not every vacationer is inclined to “wade in” to local urban life and culture, we loved how easy that was to do. Before or after our beach time we ventured out every day for market excursions, craft shopping, a few meals and general sightseeing. Each time we found the surroundings to be lively, noisy, uplifting (especially the Sunday gospel singing in nearby churches). It’s also chaotic and gritty at times but always stimulating with sights, sounds and smells.

This property’s location so close to the city with all its daytime activity and nightlife made us feel like we were in the real Jamaica. Ochi has its own rhythm and heart and though we obviously stood out as tourists, we were welcomed with greetings and smiles and fist bumps. For those who may harbor fears of locals based on rumor or myth, the worst thing we experienced was that a few of them stared at us, and some were more persistent in their sales pitches. A firm “no thank you” and proper respect is all that’s needed. We never felt nervous or uncomfortable, even walking back from dinner late one night.

The house itself is extremely comfortable and well appointed. There are all kinds of lounging options from beanbag chairs, a bed and futon in the living room to more chairs and another bed (that we all fought over) outside on the veranda. Plus multiple lounges and shade options on the beach. It all serves to create a very relaxing environment. The beds are comfortable with good linens, and there are ceiling fans and/or air conditioning for sleeping. On the street side the house is fronted by a wall and remote controlled gate and we always felt 100% secure. If you happen to rent a car (we didn’t) you can park it safely in a protected carport.

Then there’s the beach – this one was small but perfect. We spent sunny mornings and lingering afternoons there, and swam to our heart’s content. A few party boats passed by each day, morning and late afternoon, to entertain us. Flowers fell from trees while breezes blew through the palms. The yard is filled with beautiful mature plantings, including hibiscus, coconut and ackee fruit trees. If it sounds idyllic it was.

Ms. Barbara, the resident housekeeper/guide/gourmet chef is a gem, a real asset to the Eden Sands experience. It took us a day or so to realize that she would be there every day from whenever we asked to whenever we were done. That had never been our vacation style before, but we came to appreciate her dedication, her creative cooking (curries, ackee and saltfish, soups and more), and her genuine love for us. She’ll gladly cook all three meals each day if you let her; we ate out a few times only. All of the reviews here say the same positive things about Ms. Barbara for a reason.

As for excursions, we did just two with a local driver that Ms. B arranged: Nine Mile/Bob Marley birthplace and resting place, and Dunn’s Falls. The latter is highly recommended – only 10 minutes by car from the house. Go on a day when there are no cruise ships in port and you’ll have an experience like ours – barely anyone there. The Marley trek is more rigorous and not for everyone. It’s a 90-minute drive each way over winding narrow pothole-covered roads, but the reward is seeing magnificent countryside and more of the real (if impoverished) Jamaica. The site itself is clean and definitely worth a visit for Marley fans.

Again, we loved this location and would stay again in a minute. The sincerely appreciative owner says he’s already addressing some of our very minor suggestions (snorkels, floats, sand toys) for the next guests. If you’re looking for comfort and pampering, gourmet local cooking, a private beach yet close to local life, we recommend Eden Sands without hesitation!
