Hello everyone, before getting into the Sans Souci review, I will give you a few details on the type of vacations we enjoy taking. Additionally, we have gone to Jamaica about 25 times or so to the various all-inclusive resorts.

In almost every formal vacation we take, we go to au natural beaches to wine down from our busy lives. We are foodies, but on vacation, we focus more on fun in the sun than we do on our dinner plates. Therefore, food is not a make it or break it experience for us. We also tend to do nothing other than relax on the beaches, so we will have very little to say about off-property excursions. Finally, and this is a make it or break it experience, we only go to adult properties, and avoid like the plague family friendly resorts.

On to our experience at Sans Souci...

Sans Souci is about two hours from Montego Bay Airport. The Couples lounge is nice and the staff are very friendly. You can get a cool Red Stripe while you wait for the shuttle to take you to the resort, which was about 15 minutes for us.

The drive to the resort is straight forward, and we made to San Souci in under two hours. Typically, the driver will make a pit stop for drinks and bathrooms, as this is a common occurrence when driving to a resort, but we were not at all disappointed with the straight-to-the-resort approach.

Once we arrived, we were greeted with Champaign and cool washcloth from our two-hour tour of Jamaica. Our room was not ready yet, but said by the time we ate lunch at the Palazzina bistro it would be. The Palazzina bistro is a casual breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant with select al a cart menus for lunch, dinner is full menu, and buffet style breakfast. Our lunch was good, and the salad bar had plenty of options to meet most individual’s needs. Additionally, dinner was very good, and it is hard to miss on breakfast.

Our room was ready as promised, and we checked in around 12:30 or so. The hotel guaranteed time is at 4:00, if memory serves, so your millage may very if you arrive to the hotel early.

The room was very nice. We had a corner room with two access points to the terrace. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very nice having marble, Jacuzzi bathtub, and walk-in shower. We used the Internet to watch a couple of TV shows on NetFlix with little issues in streaming. Overall, the Internet service was fine for the occasional email need, download an eBook, or some other non-mission critical event. For those that liked to be connected 24/7 everywhere, there is no internet on the au natural beach, and I do not know if the textile beach accommodated it.

We wasted no time grabbing the beach gear, and heading to the au natural side.

The au natural beach is down the hill from the A & B block rooms. You must walk on a blacktop\asphalt road to get to the beach. It is probably a couple hundred yards walk, with the possibility of walking on the resort lawn next to the road. You must also venture to the beach with clothing on until you get to the beach. We recommend sarongs for easy cover-up/off functionality.

The beach is very nice with the typical pagoda umbrellas, with lawn furniture, and a couple hundred yards of beachfront. It is very beautiful with a point to the left and ocean straight out. However, the beach does share a public access from the left, where a river flows into the ocean.

As said, the beach shares a public beach, and it is clear where the au natural begins and ends; however, the locals have no problem venturing on the nude side. That being said, there were very few on-walkers, and did not deter us from enjoying the view and swimming during our stay.

I should note that at this point I am assuming public access here, as the guard did not sway others from coming on to the nude beach. Based on my observations, his presents was actually to keep the nude sunbathers from going to the public side.

The nude pool has a shallow area and a lounge side where the water can go from about 4 foot deep to about a 1 foot deep. To separate the two depths, there is massive water feature that is interesting to look at, and has a cave to visit. Not sure, what is going on in the cave? The pool could accommodate a volleyball court, but the shape of it makes it odd to try. Although, I am certain the social vacationers would make a good effort of setting up a contraption to try. That said the pool is a social spot with enough space for a few rafters to enjoy the water, and plenty of water tables and bar space to sit and chitchat.

The pool bar was stocked with the usual libations and soft drinks. The bartenders were excellent by providing great service.

The beach (Sun Set Beach-SSB) opens up to everyone around 5:00 to watch the sun set. I do not know if this means you need to cover, but fair warning all the same.

My wife's birthday was celebrated while at the resort. As a last minute idea by myself, when I called the reservation desk to make our reservation at Casanova, and to ask if I could have a cake brought to the table. They accommodated my request; however, the kitchen needs 48 hours to ensure they can pull off a cake, so your mileage may vary if you attempt something special without planning. They successfully pulled it off at our favorite restaurant the Casanova. They brought out a nice chocolate dense cake with a birthday greeting on top, and not least, the staff sung happy birthday. They did a fantastic job in both servicing a last minute request and pulling off a memorial experience.

Summary Experience
The hotel has everything you would expect at an all-inclusive resort. The rooms are nice, clean, a couple of ceiling fans, and a great air conditioner. We slept like babies, snuggled under the warm covers of a nicely circulated room of what felt like an ocean breeze.

You will want for nothing on the nude side in terms of beach location, swimming pool, bar service, and clean rest rooms. However, Sans Souci does not cater to an au natural vacation, they happen to have a nice nude beach. The resorts has tons of potential in expanding the nude facility. Some of our brain storming ideas where, a Nude Block of rooms across from the beach as it appears they have the space to expand. Enlarge the grilling area where you can snack and sit out of the sun, or simply socialize. Although adventurous, expand the pool and pool bar to accommodate more people and have a proper volleyball area. To do all of these items would require construction efforts, which could deter reservations, but would be well worth it.

If you are looking for an au natural experience as similar to Grand Lido Braco, San Souci has the potential, but falls short. However, if you are looking for a resort with a nice nude beach, do not mind staying covered until you get to the quasi-public-nude beach than San Souci is a great option.

For us, because we love Jamaica so much, we will probably come back to Sans Souci for our nude needs. We have not seen trip reports of other facilities that make us desire to switch just yet, that said, we would also be in search of our 'Braco.'

Feel free to contact us if you have specific questions.

Room Tip: If you want to be close to the au natural beach, than room blocks A or B should fit the bill.

We returned to Couples, San Souci this August. It was a wonderful experience! The views and elegance of this resort far exceeded our memory. The spacious penthouse suite was beautiful and the people working there were so friendly and accommodating!

We have joined the Couples family and will return many more times to their beautiful resorts!

Room Tip: Ask for a head on view of Ocean

We went to CSS July 17-21 after 3 days at Couples Negril..Couples provided free transfer and the 3 hour drive was beautiful.I love the beach in Negril but the property here in Ocho is just so stunning and beautiful. We requested G block again and the view was just amazing..loved laying on our double lounger for coffee in the morning and at night listening to the shows.
We don't dive or snorkel here as Negril seems to be better for that. Here it's all about relaxing and the AN beach.
Met fun people there as usaul and had a great time.Went to feed the fish in the pond and wound up feeding 20 or so turtles..so fun!
This place is just beautiful..not fancy, but amazing.

We went to Couples Sans Souci for our honeymoon. It was definitely a good choice. it was both of our first times out of the country and we could not have picked a better place. Everyone was so friendly and we were taken care of as soon as we landed at the airport. It was also wonderful that there was no language barrier. The staff seemed to thoroughly enjoy their jobs and always made sure we were enjoying ourselves. The food was great, especially the soups. It was 80 and 90 degrees and we couldn't get enough of the soups--we had a different kind each day! Restaurant choices were great, casual to formal. And the bars, including the smoothie bar, were always open and delicious. The excursions that were included were well worth it-- we did glass bottom boat, Dunn's River Falls, downtown shopping trip, snorkeling, and the Hobie Cat sailing. The resort also provided two entertainment nights, which was great to bring everyone together. We also checked out the Au Naturel Beach...it is a beautiful stretch of beach and very fun to visit. Might as well do it if you are there! Our room was in the B block, which was pretty much a central location to everything. Room service kept it clean, and everything was in working order. One pool was closed for remodeling, but the main pool and mineral pool were plenty to bounce back and forth from. Plus there is a pool at the Au Naturel Beach. Highly recommend Couples Sans Souci!!

We got married here in 2009 and all I can say is it was perfect! The hotel, grounds, staff, restaurants. I can not think of one fault. It was truly amazing. My hubby did promise me a return visit for our 5th wedding anniversary. So I can't wait to return!

My wife and I started our honeymoon here and we were quickly made to feel at home and we not allowed to stress about anything. We enjoyed the staff especially Alecia in Guest Services and Jason in Watersports were two people that stood out for us. All of our meals were great and the wait and restaurant staff were extremely helpful and felt like family after a couple of hours. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and were sad to leave.

Room Tip: Definitely get a beachfront and I would also suggest a second floor for a little more privacy but no...
