I can't say enough about this place. First, it was nice to wait for our ride in the Couples lounge at the airport instead of out front where all of the "vendors" were. Our ride was arranged and our bags were handled for us, and the worry free vacation began. The only thing a little nerve wrecking was the ride from the airport to CSS which is beyond anyone's control. It is about a 2 hour drive and I am convinced that most people there are crazy drivers, so just be forewarned. Our driver (who was not a CSS staff) also stopped for gas and took a detour through Falmouth to deliver paychecks, but we didn't even think to mention it when we checked in. The welcome we received made us forget any concerns about the ride to CSS. From the moment we pulled up in front and the bellman opened the door to greet us with "Welcome home" we really did have a carefree amazing time! My husband tried to help carry our bags, and the bellman kindly reminded him that we were on vacation and it was his job to carry the bags for us. There was champagne and a cold almond scented towel waiting for us when we arrived to check in. We will definitely return someday & highly recommend CSS to everyone!!! If you are a nit picky complainer you could probably find a few thing to pick at, but we had no complaints. It's Jamaica mon! Take on the laid back attitude yourself, and you will have a perfect vacation here!! We experienced NONE of the issues that are occasionally posted here on TA. EVERYONE was friendly and went above and beyond to meet our needs and to be sure we were happy. Milton was a great orientation guide, he remembered our names, said hello to us by name every time he saw us, and asked us how everything was. We did a vowel renewal on the beach. Creshena coordinated our ceremony and did an awesome job making us feel special, like celebrities, and we just did the simple "one love" package! I felt like we got the same treatment we would have received had we booked the most expensive one. Kanesha was our wedding photographer, and she did great! It was VERY difficult to narrow down which pictures to purchase. We did a candlelight dinner on the beach which was awesome. Junior was our personal waiter for our candlelight beach dinner, and he was fabulous with great attention to details. Again, he made us feel like celebrities. Vanya was one of our waitresses in the Pallazina, and she always went above and beyond to answer our questions, if she didn't know an answer, she went and found out for us! I got an amazing massage from Kerry Ann in a cliffside gazebo where I could feel the ocean breeze and hear the waves. I did the resort scuba dive class and 30 foot dive - I have never been diving before, and Mitch was a VERY thorough and professional instructor. He made absolutely sure that all of us could demonstrate our skills before we hit the reef. He led us on an amazing dive and I had a blast and felt very safe! We also snorkeled at a reef where a ship had wrecked, which was pretty cool! We took out paddle boards and paddle boats, but ran out of time for the glass bottom boat, the water skiing, and the hobbie cats. We went on the Dunn's River Falls excursion which is an included excursion, and we had a great time. This was the only place we ran into aggressive vendors, but our driver had warned us ahead of time what to expect, and gave us some tips to avoid getting "tricked" into buying something. There were a few vendors set up a few days on the beach at CSS, but they NEVER approached the guests or initiated conversation. We also booked an extra excursion to Mystic Mountain through the tour desk, which was fun, too. Booking the excursions, the diving, and dinners through the tour, watersports, and guest services desks was easy, and we experienced NO problems with availability. The beach NEVER seemed crowded. I don't know where everyone was, but it never felt crowded anywhere on the resort! We always found two chairs together at the beach, and we never had to wait for a table at any of the restaurants for any meal. The food was really good, and there were plenty of options. Even my husband, who is SUPER picky, was able to find things on the menu to eat! The grounds were beautiful, and well maintained. I even saw someone out raking leaves every morning that I was up early enough. I read some complaints about "dated" decor, however, I think the decor is possibly intentional to give it an "island" feel. If I understood correctly, the A & B blocks are only 8 years old. I liked it, it felt authentic. We stayed in B Block which was perfect for beach access. We still wandered around the grounds exploring. There are a lot of steps there, but wow, what beautiful stairways they are. If you don't like stairs, and you don't have to dine fancy every night, stay in A or B. The Pallazina and the Bella Vista are both down by the beach. Casanova, the fine dining, (and also the Balloon Bar) is at the top by the lobby. You can also call for a ride if you don't want to take the stairs. We took the stairs, it was a beautiful walk. My husband used the gym, and was impressed with the equipment they had. It was definitely not your typical sparse hotel fitness center. There is a Starlight Gala and a Beach Buffet on Friday and Tuesday so everyone eats at the same time. There was great entertainment, and enough buffet stations and options that there were no long lines. It was amazing to see how many people were actually staying at the resort, because you could never tell there were that many of us any other time. Neither of us are drinkers generally, however, I did get a few pina coladas at the beach bar, and I got great service. My husband got great service even when just ordering a bottle of water. Room service was available 24 hours, and the mini-bar in the room is re-stocked per your request. Every single person we had contact with had amazing customer service! They were ALL friendly and smiling and seemed to truly love their job! It was refreshing!! Like I said, we had an amazing experience, I have not one complaint, it was fabulous!!!! The only thing I regret is that we didn't stay longer. We stayed for a week, and still ran out of time to do everything we wanted. It was just too nice lying on the beach, so we will have to come back again!!

Room Tip: A & B Block = no steps to main beach, Bella Vista, and Pallazina

Just got back from 6 wonderful days. This was our 4th time at Sans Souci, and 6th stay with Couples.

Sans Souci remains great value for money. The rooms are not ultra-modern but are very comfortable and well appointed. The staff are the most friendly you will find, and they genuinely want you to have the best possible time while on the property. The food was excellent, the property well maintained and safe. The staff who have been there over the past few years remember us and welcome us home. The beach is quaint and private - so serene.

The one down side was that the mineral pool was closed for updates/repairs, but that is what happens when you visit off-season at a resort where the management cares about maintaining the assets of the company. We missed it, but not so much that it impeded our ability to enjoy the resort. We'll enjoy it all the more next time!

We loved seeing folks like Amalachi (aka Junior), Frankie, Derron, Maureen, Delroy, Milton, and of course, the GM, Pierre again, as well as making new acquaintances like Sanita (Spaghetti), Akeem, and Quayne. There is something about being able to see familiar, welcoming faces that makes it even more like family when you come back again. Every time we come back, we see guests who come the same week every year, and guests who are there for the first time. Every year it's different...and the same...we have such great memories from every trip.

We were pretty lazy on this trip, but we had a great time snorkeling in the reef, and for my husband's 50th birthday, I treated him to a sunset cruise on the CSS' new speed boat, Dolce Vita. What a beautiful boat ride! For an hour, we were royals.

Sure, there are bigger, fancier, more modern places to stay, but there is no place that I have been that offers this combination of beautiful grounds, warm, friendly people and a commitment to excellent service that we have found year after year at CSS. We've tried the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Antigua, Mexico, etc, but keep coming back to Jamaica and Couples. The price is right, we can be there in just a few hours, the vibe is laid back, and everything is "No Problem!".

We are still as happy with CSS as we were on our first stay there.

Room Tip: If you can afford the Roger Moore Suite, the view is incredible. If that doesn't fit your budget, we recommend any room in Block A facing the Caribbean. You'll be close to the pool, beach, water sports, and the beach grill, and the view will be superb.

Stayed here with my husband for 5 nights to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We went back and forth between the four Couples resorts and finally chose this one primarily because it was the smallest (~150 rooms) and we were looking for a relatively quiet, relaxing vacation.

As many others have stated, the decor is very dated which makes the rooms look slightly run down. (We knew this going in and decided it wasn't a concern. Although the rooms appear a bit worn, they are clean.) We booked a penthouse suite and were initially put in E block (E10). There was a large but sparsely furnished living room and a large balcony with a great view. However the bedroom and bathroom were rather small. It overlooked the mineral pool, which was under construction -- and there was a lot of noise all day from the workers cutting tile.

This was pretty disappointing since we wanted peace and quiet, so due to the noise, after our first night we asked the front desk if there were any other rooms available that we might be moved to and were given the Prime Minister's Suite in D block (D13). That room was WONDERFUL. It was larger and better furnished than our first room with a HUGE balcony overlooking the main beach, an enormous walk-in shower, and a jetted tub. The fact that Sans Souci put us in a better room without question due to the construction noise was GREATLY appreciated. In general, D block seemed to be a nicer option than E block. The only issue we had with D13 was a small bit of construction that temporarily took away our hot water -- but it was back within 20 minutes of calling the front desk.

What else? The resort is on a hillside and be warned that there are a lot of stairs, but all of the winding stairs and pathways really give the place a lot of charm. We found all sorts of neat nooks and crannies tucked away as we wandered around the property -- the wedding gazebo, a small mineral spring, the massage huts over by the spa area, etc. And despite the dated decor, the rest of the property is lovely -- full of lush, tropical plants and flowers.

We tried several water sports including snorkeling, water bikes, sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding and had a great time doing each. We also did the Dunn's River Falls excursion which was amazing even despite the large crowds.

Not having to worry about money while on the property was great. We used room service only for coffee in the morning, and went to the restaurants for everything else. We had the buffet breakfast at Pallazzina every day, and had the buffet lunch twice. We ate at the Beach Grill for lunch twice also, and used the Beach Bar a lot. We had dinner once at Casanova and twice at Bella Vista -- even though they say Bella Vista is the "casual" restaurant, the menu was great and the location was right on the beach, which can't be beat. We went to both the Tuesday night and Friday night parties and enjoyed both the entertainment and talking to some of the other resort visitors.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Sans Souci and would recommend it.

Room Tip: From what I can tell, not all penthouse suites are created equal. I would avoid E block if possible and request D block.

This was our first stay at Couples Sans Souci. We went for our honeymoon and stayed for 1 week. The experience was way better than we could have ever expected. The best thing for us was that this resort is all-inclusive, and we had no worries about money the whole time we were there. The food and drinks were great, the service was fast, and the employees and servers were extremely polite and friendly. The resort was beautiful and clean. There were a lot of beach and night time activities and events. The beach was private and not too crowded which allowed us to relax and enjoy our trip. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone!

We had been to San Souci several years ago and were just getting a return trip in - we were glad we returned.
First, the obvious issues you should know about this resort before you go: as noted all over other reviews, the décor is dated. We knew this and it was not a concern. Our room was very clean and housekeeping was prompt and efficient. We spend little time in the room. Also, there are a lot of stairs to get around the resort. We're pretty fit and didn't mind the walks/steps. We were in G block - fantastic ocean view. We actually preferred this room to the Beachfront room we had in B block previous stay. We had a $500 resort credit which we could have used for an upgrade but we liked our ocean view room in G block so much we stuck with it. Spent the resort credit at the spa (more on that below).
The beach at San Souci is not the greatest - better on the Au Naturel side but we opted to skip the A/N beach this go-around (husband was not keen). The mineral pool and hot tub nearby were closed for repair the entire stay - disappointing but it is low season and I appreciate their desire to keep up maintenance. We spent our days at the main beach - all was well. Breakfast we split between room service and the buffet at Palazzina - all fine.
I did experience a bit of "buffet burnout" for lunches - should have made better use of the Beach Grille, which was great.
Dinner 2x at Casanova and 2x at Palazzina - all were fine. No complaints. Wine was actually fairly good - and we can be picky about this. Drinks seemed mildly watered down but nothing that we felt was an issue.
The spa was great - we enjoyed massages and I had a manicure and facial, all were excellent. Very professional staff and the salon was exceptionally clean. Note: you DO TIP for salon services. I typically tip 20% for salon services in the States and did likewise here. The service was excellent. So glad we used the resort credit in this manner.
I used the gym while there - well maintained, disinfectant readily available to wipe down equipment. With the stairs, I didn't feel overly compelled to use the gym more than a couple times. There were aerobics/yoga classes available as well - didn't attend these.
We did take a day to visit Tower Isle, Couples sister resort up the road. Nice beach area but this resort felt a half step down from San Souci. Zero charm. Staff was friendly but TI seems like a typical resort while San Souci feels more polished - just my take on it. TI is much newer and maybe caters to a different crowd.
There is a two hour drive from MBJ to the resort - you're in a smaller tour bus. This didn't bother us. You tip the airport staff and the bus driver.
The staff at San Souci is terrific - I could not fault them. Occasionally we had spotty service during breakfast/lunch at Palazzina but this was minor.
The grounds were even nicer than we remembered. Loved the peacock! There are now mourning doves at San Souci, so we heard their cooing throughout the day. Lots of tree frogs calling in the evenings - never bothered us. The foliage is spectacular and well-tended.
There are two nights a week where they have large outdoor buffets and entertainment. This doesn't do much for me but it does give you a chance to socialize more if you choose - the point of this vacation for us is to spend time together so we don't spend a great deal of time with others. There is NOT an active night-life here - if you want to party, you should look elsewhere.
Nice mix of young honeymooners and older couples.
All in all this is a great fit for couples who want a nice escape. Food is very good, rooms are clean and possibly a bit sparse. Very warm and attentive staff. Loved the spa services.
We look forward to our next return.

Room Tip: Stick with A or B Block rooms to better manage stairs. The views from G Block are wonderful.
