Owner description: Situated in the heart of Jamaica’s popular tourist destination – Ocho Rios, just minutes away from the Cruise Ship Pier, Island Village offers the perfect mix of retail and entertainment facilities all in one convenient stop. With its picturesque open air setting incorporating natural spring lagoons and beautiful flowering trees, this complex has the remarkable feeling of being almost at “One With Nature”. It manages to recreate the ambiance of a picturesque Caribbean village setting, yet at the same time housing retail and entertainment facilities. Island Village is located on the beach and stays true to its tropical location, vibrant gardens, scenic boardwalk and water features for a relaxed shopping experience. The Island is beautiful, with great landscaping all around
It very soothing for mind.
I love the vegetation and the cleanness and the safety of the place
What I don't care for is have a ride to get there.

If your here chances are you are just heading straight into Magaritaville because there is really nothing else happening here. There are a few gift shops and I think a theater but not much else. This is within a 10 minute walk from where the cruise ships dock so that's a plus if you are a cruiser. There is beach access just outside Magaritaville if you wanna lay in the sand and listen to some Buffett.

Clearly intended to be an upscale shopping area in contrast the the local craft market, but many shops are vacant and the open ones don't seem to be doing well. On the plus side, we were not subjected to the very pushy sales tactics found at the craft market.

It is a tourist place. Having visited Jamaica on several occasions, the best at Island Village was Dave's Lobster. Grilled to your liking and you get your money's worth. It is located on the local's side of the beach. If you want to take in a show, there is a movie house. The listings are not as current as in the U.S., but it is air conditioned and you can purchase liquor and beer to take it into the theatre.
