My husband and I stayed at Tower Isle May 27-June 3. We stayed here 4 years ago and liked it then but the renovations are awesome, the food is great, and the liquor is premium. There are plenty of activities you can do if you are proactive and plan them, unlike one review I read that said they were nonexistent. Pretty much all we did was lay around and drank and ate, which was perfect. The staff is excellent. The only thing is if you want nightlife you pretty much have to find it off the resort, because after 830 or 900 the place is empty except for people who work there. There is a no tip policy and you have to get the people who work there to trust that you won't tell on them because they will get fired on the spot, but try because when you see how alot of the people live there, your tips mean alot to them and they work really hard and do a great job. Would definitely recommend this resort to anyone

My husband and I encourage everyone to make a trip to Couples Tower Isle. The service is amazing; they treat you like royality. The staff is genuinely happy to accomodate you. The resort itself is slow paced, romantic, and it offers mouthwatering cuisines. They have many, many activities to keep you busy both at the resort and off the resort if you want to make it more of an active vacation. They, otherwise, make it very easy to find a place on the beautiful beach, poolside at the swim up bar, or at their spa tucked away in a beautiful garden. Please consider Coupels Tower Isle for your next vacation, you might just see us there (again)!

My husband and I recently spent a week at the wonderful Couples Tower Isle. We loved every part of our stay. From the staff to the food and drinks, everything was wonderful. By the time we left we felt that we had gained a second family that we can't wait to visit again. I love and miss all of you!

We were diverted here after our holiday at the Excellence Riviera Cancun was cancelled due to the swine flu episode. Boy, were we disappointed even though hotel has nearly completed a 30 million dollar refit. briefly (some) of our issues were.

1) The wetroom (zero edge shower for US readers) is all very nice, but many people want a bath tub (my wife included). We were told these existed in suites, but that none were available during our 2 week stay (despite only a 30% occupancy rate). This gripe was echoed by many people we discussed it with.

2) A lot of the new rooms have a ridiculous 'designer' 2ft square sink that is 1" deep and has no plug!!. Water goes from a fixed tap straight down a hole. You just have to leave the tap running. An absurd and no doubt expensive waste and extremely NOT GREEN

3) No mini bar or fridges in rooms (suites do have). In addition there are no ice machines or bottled water available. So if you want a cold drink in your room, you have to go to a bar at night and get a couple of glasses of ice to take back to your room and put into a thermos that they kindly provide. Ludicrous. Bottled water is not kept becasue of Green issues I was told (see 2) although the other Couples sites do have them available.

4) The activities are almost non-existent and they have a lot of work to do in this area. They were often not posted until the next day and often incorrect.

5) Major design fault in the entertainment area. The main stage is in the middle of the buffet restaurant. This means that when they are on, there are still guests wandering about eating and staff cleaning away. All the lights are on and there is no desire for anyone who has finished their meal to sit in a cafeteria and spend the rest of the night there. Consequently, there was very rarely more than half a dozen people watching the entertainment by 10:00pm. Then at 10:30, the lights are turned out and everyone went to bed !!!

The band were ok, but they were the only entertainment (except for the beach party) and we had the same band every night for 2 weeks

6) There is a piano bar, but its AWFUL. The main bar is open air and next to the buffet restaurant and has little or no seating other than in the restaurant. There is no Lobby bar or similar where people can meet before dinner or for a drink after dinner. This is a massive oversight.

7) We left some comments on the Couples forum. They were polite and constructive. but were still removed by the moderator. Thats why the forums are so positive, because they remove all the negative ones !!

8) Claims to have Wifi, but this is only available within about 10m of the lobby.

On the positive side, the staff are the friendliest I have ever come across. Special mention to Everald, Byron, Emoth and Kirk in the lobby who basiclaly keep the place going with their energy and happiness (despite us losing half our holiday to rain). Also to Colin 'I love my Job' in the dive shop and Courtney, Nadine and Duedrop for their help and kindness amongst many others

As mentioned, the food is excellent. However, if you go for two weeks, each of the restaurants gets a little bit samey as there are only 1 or 2 choices for starters/soups etc and 3 or 4 for main courses. The menus could do with an alternate week change.

As we were leaving, they were attempting to correct some of these problems. New equipment arrived for the gym. They were going to start a Martini bar in the lobby area and were trying to get alternative entertainment in.

Maybe, down the line they will get things right, but at the moment I couldnt recommend it, especially if you are young or European and like to stop up past 8:30pm because it's dead by then.

It was slightly more expensive than our original choice but, the staff aside, it was a long way behind it in virtually every respect

I am being honest with this revew as best I can! The 1st thing was the arrival, had to wait without air conditioning for 2 hours. I do not understand why a representative of Couples is there on arrival to come in and explain how everything works. Had to fill out forms before leaving, it was crazy. I think the travel agent could have done it also.
The van picked us up at 4:30 to take us to our lodging for the next 9days. The ride was easy since roads have been fixed so we gor there in 2 hours. However, that means we got there at 7pm, a whole day wasted because Air Jamaica had to cancel the original 10:30 am flight to 12:45...which was bad enough without all the other stull happening at airport.
Well, we did get there, and it was lovely! We met up with Sweet Byron and Kirk, who showed us around and took suitcases to room. The room was a bit of a disappointment because it was extremely noisy and small, therefore I asked for a different one, of which was nicely done.
The restaurants Patio and Beach are excellent The Eight Rivers lovely, but don't expect to eat fast, courses are slow, but food is great.
Asian is fantastic, only thing is you are eating in the dark LOL!!
Atmosphere fantastic. The staff, I mention 2 before, but there is many I would like to thank; Casrine you made our day when we spoke with you! You are so helpful and sweet in all ways. You should get a raise as far as I am concerned. Marlon, sweet Marlon, your future lies in Plays and theatre. you are a definite star!!! Kay with the beautiful eyes, you too my dear are going to be an actress or dancer, You and Marlon are great together, maybe be a team like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, who sang and danced even though they didn'nt know how! Bring it back, we need teams like that now! The waiters in Patio, Andre & Savoy both so helpful, asking us if we were having a good time. so sweet too.
Ava is the coordinator of trips etc. I wasn't to crazy about her! Ifelt she catered to certain
people for things, and when the reunion was held for people who returned again, she really wasn't meeting and greeting, just the chosen few! When I asked for my TShirts I was supposed to get, she acted annoyed and said they should have been requested, i told her they were...then she got them hurriedly!
Now the good stuff!!! THE FOOD WAS AWESOME ALL OVER THE PLACE! THEY HAD DELICIOUS SALADS, WITH MUSSLES/SALMON/VEGETABLE, SO MANY OTHER THINGS. IT WASN'T HEAVY FRIED FOOD, BUT DELICIOUSLY DONE WITHOUT A LOT OF GREASE OR FATS. THE PLACE ITSELF IS TOO DIE FOR 2 SWIM UP BARS, AND OF COURSE THE FIESTA RESISTANCE IS TOWER ISLE! THEY TAKE YOU OVER IN A BOAT AND OF COURSE YOU GET UNDRESSED, BECAUSE IT IS FOR NUDIST. tHEY HAVE A LITTLE CASTLE THERE YOU CAN CLIMB UP, SWIM UP BAR ALSO! iT WAS GLORIOS, I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD BUT I DID BECAUSE I WANTED TO SEE THE ISLAND! IT WAS INTIMADATING AT FIRST, THEN NO PROBLEM MON!
tAKE THE CATAMARAN CRUISE!! tHAT WAS REALLY FUN, AND THE GUYS PLAY MUSIC AND DANCE AND SING! iT WAS AWESOME!
wE ALSO WENT TO bOB mARLEYS PLACE. wE ARE HAPPY WE DID, wE GOT TO SEE WHERE HE GOT HIS IDEAS FROM. wE PAID OUR RESPECTS TO HIS MOM AND TO HIM. iT WAS VERY MOVING! wHEN YOU GO THERE EXPECT TO SMELL LOTS AND LOTS OF GONGA (POT) TO THEM RASTAFARIANS IT IS CONSIDERED SACRAMENTAL, SO IF YOU LIKE TO SMOKE, THEY CAN HOOK YOU UP.
aNYHOW, TIME TO GO, i KEPT YOU WAY TO LONG.....HOPE YOU LIKE tOWER iSLE
AND pLEASE HAVE THEM MAKE YOU A BOB MARLEY DRINK AND TELL THEM YOU WANT IT WITH DARK RUM AND OVERPROOF yummmmm!

After getting engaged in 2007 we started planning a wedding for 2009. We wanted something small and intimate with our family and friends since we both had been married before. We put off planning for about a year and then started in on it. After a few months we thought "this is crazy and getting out of control!". We pulled the plug on the wedding and decided we'd go to Vegas or somewhere 'away'. We had been to Couples Negril in December 2007 and loved it. We started thinking about going back again and BOOM it hit us - let's get married there! In March we started researching which Couples location we wanted to go. I hit the Couples website daily and found the Secret Rendezvous special. We didn't really care which location we went to - we found a great deal! Two weeks later a new special came out - the Not So Secret Secret Rendezvous - and it seemed like a sign that we should book it and change to Couples Tower Isle in Ocho Rios. CTI had been closed for well over a year due to renovations and it was scheduled to reopen mid-April. We made the change and on May 9 took off from Chicago.
...Jump to Montego Bay approximately 10:30 a.m.. Arrived at airport, breezed through Customs/Immigration. AAAAAHHHH...the Couples lounge. We just saw a group get led to their bus and knew we were in for a little wait. We checked in, got a beverage, I changed into shorts and voila' we were told it was time to go! There was only one other couple on the bus - they were going to Couples San Souci. Our bus driver was friendly and informative and our road trip was uneventful and scenic. Around 12:30 p.m. we pulled into our driveway "home". Byron, the ever present bellhop (for lack of a better, more complete term), greeted us, welcomed us home and offered us a drink. The view of the new lobby was breathtaking. The walls were painted the lightest shade of aqua to match the gorgeous ocean beyond the open sliding doors. The new furniture was modern, aqua blue with black and white pillows. The funkiest, coolest, chaise waiting to be lounged on was situated in the middle of the lobby. We checked in, got our packet of info and upon told we were being upgraded to an oceanview room, handed a set of room cards. Within moments we were being led to our room. When I say this hotel/resort was renovated, I mean RENOVATED - to the tune of $33 million!! Our room had a brand new bathroom with zero edge shower, a plasma tv on the wall and a new keypad room safe. (more to follow on the room). We debated - do we eat, unpack, rest? Nah, let's hit the beach! We threw on our swimsuits and were out the door! Here's a rundown of what you'll find:

BEACH - the beach at Couples Tower Isle is NOT a beach you can take a long, leisurely sunset stroll on. It's clean, white and sandy but it's short. However, it is the most private beach you can possibly get. It butts up against a cliff on one side and a wall on the other - no other resort's guests, no tourists, no vendors, no children. There are plenty of palm trees to find shade, close enough to the two grills to grab a bite to eat if you're so inclined and well taken care of by the CTI staff including Delroy! Feeling adventurous? Then, welcome to Tower Island. Hop on the boat that Tyron handles with such skill and cruise out to what is the iconic TI - the nude island! It's a 2 minute boat ride to the island. You get out of the boat on to the brand new dock, climb a few stairs and find the place you want to park your hinie. Want to mingle with other nude people? Then saunter over to the swim up bar/ pool area. Want some privacy? Head to the other end of the island. There's covered areas for shade or completely open areas for full sun. The entire island is shrouded in plant life and trees so you are not visible from the resort.

FOOD - There are several restaurants to choose from every night but Saturday. Saturday is the International Gala Buffet; although I believe Eight Rivers is also open. Bayside and Eight Rivers is reservation, sit down, order off a menu style dining.
Verandah - The Verandah is directly across from Eight Rivers. Windows all around the perimeter of three sides of the restaurant give you breathtaking views of the ocean. The Verandah serves traditional Caribbean fare. Because we are vegetarian we did not eat there however we heard very positive things about the restaurant. The soothing aqua and coral/red decor are sure to make your dining experience a pleasant one!
Patio - The Patio is the main open air dining room where you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Buffet style with several stations. Breakfast included potatoes, eggs, bacon, muffins, waffles, pancakes, omelettes, oatmeal, porridge, fruit, pastries, fresh to order smoothies, mimosas, bloody marys.....anything you could possibly want! Lunch and dinner featured a lot of variety of food - traditional Caribbean food like jerk, goat and seafood. Potatoes, rice, veggies, pasta salad, potato salad, salads and dessert! Dinner also had made to order pasta with your choice of add-ins and sauce, salad, fruit and cheese, bread and all the sides - potatoes, rice, vegetables, polenta all prepared differently each night. The dessert station was vast and we always left with at least three each (they were little, individual sized portions).
Eight Rivers - This is the fancy gourmet restaurant. We ate there Monday night for the Repeaters' Dinner. Again, being vegetarian, we can't comment on the fare offered here. But our especially made courses for the Repeaters Dinner were wonderful!! This restaurant is the only one that has a dress code - men must wear closed toed shoes; women should be in nicer, non-beach attire. Absolutely beautiful decor. The remodel turned Eight Rivers into a very muted, demure place to dine with gorgeous murals painted on the walls and beautiful art deco glass chandeliers. The baby grand piano is no longer there and it is missed! Try the flaming coffee - fun and delicious.
Bayside - Bayside used to be the Italian restaurant. It is now Asian since the renovation. Bayside should be visited for the ambience alone. It is sectioned off into gazebo style sections and is situated right on the ocean. The crashing of the waves right below you is so romantic. You look off to the hotel and island lit up at night and feel serene and calm. Oh, and the food is awesome! Your appetizer is a sampler platter for two. Then you have a choice of soups, salads, entrees and dessert. We had the Pad Thai with tofu and the sweet potato salad - which is a salad with fried sweet potato strips. So yummy!
Beach Grill - The beach grill moved from the beach to the new building. Lime green is the color here. It is situated right next to the old pool and is completely open air. Tradition food can be eaten here - hamburgers, fries, onion rings. There is a fountain pop machine as well as a soft serve ice cream machine. And, luckily for us, they serve gardenburgers! They were delicious.
Fruit & Veggie Bar - Where the old Beach Grill used to be, down on the beach, now sits the fruit and veggie bar. Smoothies, fruit or veggie juice, unusual sandwiches and homemade sweet potato chips with the most innovative dips are available here. We visited the f/v bar twice a day for those sweet potato chips. Our favorite dip was the jalapeno pumpkin dip. Sounded strange; tasted out of this world!! LOVED IT.

ROOMS - As I mentioned earlier we were upgraded to an oceanview room. We were in building 4, fifth floor. Room 4510 to be exact. Elevators are available but we took the stairs every day. Our room had a wonderful patio off the sliders where we sat every morning. It overlooked not only the ocean but also the brand new pool. My (now) husband loved the bed; it hurt my back. The a/c worked perfectly. Our housekeeping lady was WONDERFUL. Our room was perfectly made up every day. The only issue we had in the beginning was with the zero edge shower. It's a novel idea but the grade isn't steep enough to keep the water in. Also, if you don't close the shower curtain your mirror stays foggy forever. (No windows in the bathroom as in Couples Negril rooms). We learned to adjust the shower head a little towards the wall and always keep the curtain closed - no problem, mon. The plasma tv was fantastic although truth be told we were very rarely in our room.

I mentioned the new pool! There is now a third pool at CTI. It is on the opposite side of the resort from the original pool. It is a swim up bar pool and also features bar stools on the patio side of the bar. We never used it once but it always had a lot of people enjoying it!

Watersports - The watersports people, like Tyron, are wonderful. One of our favorites was Colin. He played volleyball with us a couple of times but mainly did scuba. All of the watersports fellas were very likable and fun. Get Colin talking though about his rock climbing at Dick's Sporting Goods in Michigan - he's hilarious!!

SPA - Another new addition to the resort is the spa. The beautiful spa!! It is located in the gardens behind the resort. Gorgeous! Tranquil! We had one hour massages after we got married and they were wonderful. Nice smelling oils were used and it felt like heaven for one hour! I also got my hair done for the wedding. She did a nice job and listened to what I wanted. A jacuzzi right next to the spa is open all night after the spa closes. There is also a plunge pool in the middle of all of the massage rooms behind the spa. And, a hidden gem, a little juice bar, ran by Ricardo (wonderful guy) that you sit at before you are called into your massage room. Stroll the gardens at night and watch the light show at the spa. Great photo opportunity too!

PHOTO SHOP - CTI has a couple of roving photographers on staff. They go around the resort and restaurants at night and snap pictures of you. You can then purchase them at the end of your stay. The two photogs we encountered were Nicholas and Rohan. Rohan also took the pics for our wedding on 5/14/09 at 4:00pm. We specifically requested him because he is, by far, the most innovative, personable, lively, energetic Jamaican! He took the best pictures and we ended up spending WAY more money than we wanted to on pics. Almost all of them were perfect!! All the girls in the photo shop were also wonderful - super friendly, always waving hello and very patient!!

NIGHTLIFE - A live band played every night with dinner. Singers took the stage with the band around 9:30 or so. Great band and excellent singers! I wish more guests would have danced and enjoyed the music! There was a dj several nights a week too, after the band ended. We only stayed up for that one night. We were bushed from so much sun every day!

STAFF - While we were walking around the grounds on our last day we ran into Mr. Leonard Henry, the General Manager. He asked how our stay was and if we had been before. I told him that we were at Couples Negril in 2007; he asked us to compare. I said the same things everyone else said - Negril has the bigger beach but Tower Isle has the Island and the private beach. The thing that will bring us back to CTI, though, is the staff. The staff at CTI is by far the single reason to bring us back. Tyrol, a newer employee at the Patio, was the sweetest person ever. We really got to know him and love him and we have spoken on the phone and exchanged emails since we've returned. Matthew and Marlon, the two entertainment guys, had so much energy and the biggest smiles every! Odah, in the gift shop, told us all about her trip to Chicago (near where we live) and how she wants to go to New York City. Sweet lady! Byron, Kirk and Everald (?)are always in the lobby handling the luggage and greeting the guests; wherever you might see them on the property, they will give you a genuine smile and ask how you are doing.

ETC....All housed in the new building where the beach grill is: The new gym - plenty to work with. Weight machines and free weights. New treadmills, ellipticals and spin cycles arrived the last couple of days we were there. Never crowded and nicely air conditioned. Right next to the new pool and overlooking the beach so you had a great view while you worked out. There was a yoga room next door to the gym. Classes were held in there daily. A game room was next to the yoga room. Ping pong table, pool table and some tables where you can play games. A computer room with at least 10 flat screen monitors is located on the other side of the beach grill and photo shop. Perfect way to keep in touch with friends and family back home.

We had a few glitches in our trip but I chalk them up to the fact that the resort just reopened a month earlier and some of the kinks were still being ironed out. Nothing that would prevent me from going back. What I was most sad about leaving was the wonderful staff. Those kids work their butts off and are always smiling and happy and waiting to serve you as if you were royalty. I cannot say enough good things about the majority of them.

We will be returning in March 2010 hopefully. Although I would like to visit Couples San Souci and Couples Swept Away I honestly can say that I want to return to CTI to visit all the friends I made...I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for romance and togetherness to try this resort.

FYI - couples only, no kids, over 18. All inclusive - food, beverage, watersports, many excursions such as Dunn's River Falls, horseback riding, catamaran cruise, shopping trip to Ocho Rios. On site gift shop, spa. Tennis across the street and golf available for a cart/caddy fee. Many other excursions available at a cost. NO TIPPING ALLOWED.

My husband and I visited Couples Tower Isle when it was still Couples Ocho Rios - 2 years ago. After what should have been a 2 hour drive (but took 3 and 1/2 because of the never-ending road construction in Jamaica), we arrived at Couples. Our ocean-front room (352) had somewhat dated decor, but the gorgeous view of the island more than made up for any short-comings. My husband and I spent many afternoons from our balcony, taking in the view, drinking the Blue Mountain Coffee (delicious) that they provide in your room. We had a lot of fun on the included excursions horseback riding and to Dunn River Falls. We also enjoyed the water sports, glass bottomed boat ride and snorkeling. We were thankful for all the activities included. The food was pretty good. The breakfast buffet was wonderful - always providing a vast array of options from healthy fresh fruit and yogurt to bacon and eggs. We ate lunch every day at the Beach Grill - the burgers were awesome and the Jerk chicken to die for. The food at dinner was so - so. All the restaurants seemed to have similar sauces and soups - we were left disappointed most nights. The one dinner we LOVED was the beach party. Dinner was set up on the beach and traditional food was served - it was fabulous. The drinks were great - we loved the pina coladas - just make sure you ask for premium liquor or they will use well. We went to tower isle on our last day - our attempt at being adventurous. The beach was great - very quiet, secluded and of course beautiful - we loved the guy on the surfboard selling shells. The market across the road is somewhat secluded and the people can be very intimidating. I would stick to the hotel gift shop for souveniers. Bring money for duty-free jewelry - the resort has a jewelry shop on site! Overall, we found the trip to be very relaxing and peaceful, perfect for couples. The people were very warm and welcoming, the views spectacular and the value fantastic.
