If you are looking for an adults only intimate, service oriented vacation spot Royal Plantation is the place. There is nothing left undone. From our arrival at this resort to the day of departure you are made to feel as though you are the only people there. Pristine beaches with an attentive staff to serve drinks, sweep the sand and spray you with Rosewater! Cleon, Richard and Adrian were attentive without being intrusive; Germaine, Ojay and Giavanni ensured the beach was clean, towels were fresh, water activities were available and our lounges always faced the sun! Our private snorkel adventure was incredible - the cooperation between the beach staff and butlers in making the arrangements provided an exciting morning on the water! Our room was beautiful and spacious. I treated myself to a Sports Therapy massage and though I cannot remember her name the therapist was wonderful - I cannot wait to go back next year...Each of the restaurants proved to be a culinary experience; from the seaside grill for a casual lunch to Le Papillion with everything in between - our palates were provided flavors beyond description (hats off to Stephen - he was everywhere making sure everything was correct). The personalized butler service added an extra layer of luxury; our in room bar was always stocked, dinner reservations were made, spa appointments arranged and transport to golf and scuba diving were flawless. We opted to dine at the neighboring property one night (Valentino's), but were disappointed with the food quality. Our butler (Kenroy) took us there and ensured we had cocktails as we waited for our table - they don't take reservations - but they need to! A very special thanks to Neil and Kenroy (two young men who impressed us with their positive attitudes, work ethic and personalities) for their incredible butler service! So many extra touches that made the vacation memorable. Our New Years Eve celebration began with multiple lights and ice sculptures, oodles of champagne, an unbelievable assortment of foods and again wonderful entertainment. We are not sure where Oshayne gets his energy - he is the life of the party and you feel his energy as you watch him dance, sing and energize the audience. We enjoyed a piano concert in the Wobbly Peacock by Andre - who looks like a football linebacker but plays the keys with a gentle touch. Our last night at the Wobbly Peacock was so much fun - the bar was packed and everyone participated in a sing-along and dance-a-thon that no one wanted to leave! Though we were amazed by each and every one of the RP staff, hats off to those behind the scenes and may not always get the recognition; Mark for being a gracious and attentive manager, the wait staff who were all outstanding Simon (polished and mature - a fabulous role model for the younger staff) , Shannell, Jermaine, Natalia, Junior, and Garnett. So many others that next time I will write all the names down, as there was not a single person who did not greet you with a smile and "may we help you". We have already signed up for next year and are counting the days. Our first time at a Sandals and by far there has been no vacation with this combination of attentiveness, quality and genuine pride in the work that is done for the guests.

Room Tip: We were on the east side and it was quieter than my sister's room on the West end - restaurant w...

This was our 9 trip to a Sandals but our first to the Royal Plantation. After completing this trip we earned our free 7 nights as part of the Sandals Select membership. It was by far the resort with the best food and staff that we have been to so far. When we checked in we were a little disappointed on the resort size, the pool and how laid back it was but those fears went away fast. There isn't as much to do as some other resorts like water skiing at Sandals Whitehouse or Grande St Lucia which is again fine for just relaxing.

The first evening we visited the Grande Riviera next door for Sushi which was awesome but that resort is just way too big for our liking. I would not rate the Plantation's Wobbly Peacock that high if the theme is suppose to be British pub. It was OK but doesn't compare to the Drunken Duck at Sandals Emerald Bay or the Olde London Pub at the Grande St Lucia. Both of those make you feel like you are in London.

We enjoyed golf at the Sandals course in Ocho Rios and it was a lot nicer then 10 years ago when we did our first Sandals at the old Sandals Dunn's River Falls location that has since been sold. It was enjoyable, the caddies were great and it made for a nice 3 hour walk for 18 holes. Not as pretty or difficult as the Emerald Bay Greg Norman course which was fine with us.

All of the staff were just wonderful. Looking forward to a return trip here sometime soon.

We recently visited Royal Plantation in Jamaica. It was truly one of the most relaxing vacations I've had in a long time. The boutique feel and the personalized butler service was above and beyond. The staff at this property is so friendly and accommodating you can't help but to fall into the beautiful rhythm of Jamaica. Lots of excursions make this truly a one of kind place.

This was our first trip to Jamaica and the first time we've ever stayed at a Sandals resort. It could not have been a more wonderful experience! We stayed at the Royal Plantation from Dec 30 - Jan 4.

Our flight was slightly delayed, but no worries!--a driver was there waiting for us. Upon arrival at the resort, Mark (GM) and our butler Marvin were both there to greet us. We got a lovely tour and Marvin patiently answered all of our "first-timer" questions. The next day we met our butler Orayne, and he was very pleasant as well. They decorated our room with balloons and banners when they found out we were celebrating our 25 anniversary! Very sweet! After telling them of our preferences, our fridge was perfectly stocked. The "towel people" on the bed made me giggle; thanks guys!

The New Year's Eve party was very nice. We enjoyed the variety of food and music. It was a lovely way to ring in 2014. Our "candlelight dinner" the next night was beyond perfect. The food was INCREDIBLE! Andrew, our waiter for the evening, was great. Very professional, but friendly and fun. We also ate at La Papillion while we were there; AMAZING! As a pianist myself, I truly enjoyed the gentleman who played during our dinner. Such a light touch on the keys! Soooo talented! His music set the tone for the evening and again, the food was delicious. In truth, whether having a snack on the beach, or dining regally, we never--NEVER-- had a bad meal.

Speaking of the beach; Adrian (beach butler) and Donatello (bartender) are two of the nicest guys EVER. Donatello learned our names the very first day we were there, and never let our glasses run dry our entire stay. He quickly learned what I like, and made sure Adrian delivered glass after glass. Both of them were kind, quick with a joke, attentive and thoughtful.

I literally cried through breakfast our last day (seriously; ask the staff...) because I didn't want to leave! I had such a wonderful stay and everyone, no matter what their job description, had treated us wonderfully.

We will certainly go back, and to the Royal Plantation specifically. Loud parties, the bar scene and constant activity were not what we wanted. We wanted something quiet, romantic and relaxing. That is EXACTLY what we got at the Royal Plantation. A huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone there!!!

We stayed at SRP October 22-29, 2013. From the moment we walked into the resort until the morning we tearfully left, it was a magical vacation. I will try to compliment as many of the incredible staff by name, but please know that everyone contributed to our splendid vacation.

We shared our car from the airport with one other couple from Southern California who became great new friends by the time we arrived at the resort. Our driver was great and stopped for us to pick up a small snack and some Red Stripes! Yum...a first for all of us.

Our welcome at the resort was warm and so friendly. We were met by our butler Romaine, who showed us to lunch at the Royal Grill while our room was being readied. I had read so much about the Lobster BLTs and mine definitely lived up to its reputation. We also shared some coconut shrimp as well as a coffee crunch sundae. What a way to start our vacation.

We were then shown to our room, a Greathouse Oceanfront Suite on the west wing. Our room was out near the end of the wing and the view was spectacular! Our butlers had a beautiful flower arrangement for us that lasted our entire stay. What a nice touch! They also had some fun towel art waiting for us. We discussed restaurant reservations for our stay with Romaine and knew we were in good hands. We met our other butler Hector the next day.

Now for some information that will hopefully will help others considering SRP:

RESTAURANTS:
All of the food was fabulous. Le Papillion is truly a fine dining experience. Other reviews have complained about how long it takes for dinner at this restaurant, but for us that is part of what makes it so great. It reminded us of dining in Europe. The table is yours for the night, so no one is hurrying you through the experience. I would recommend ordering your dinner one course at a time, and truly enjoy each. Some of our favorites: the French onion soup, the filets, salmon, and especially the chocolate pudding, which actually is an incredibly rich lava cake.

Breakfast at the Terrace was always delicious. Whether ordering from the menu or from the omelette station, the food was hot and well prepared. They have some wonderful breakfast cocktails...my favorite was the One Love.

We ate lunch daily at the Royal Grill and never had a bad meal. I especially liked the cheeseburger and had it almost daily. We also had dinner one night at the Grill, which was a real treat. The food was great and the atmosphere even better. The only negative to the night was a woman seated at the next table who spent 30 minutes complaining about their service and food. One of her complaints was that we got our bread before she did...what a travesty! I so wanted to tell her to just shut up, but managed to control myself. My husband and I talked about how very different peoples perceptions are of the same experience. We did see her several other times during our stay and sadly she was usually unhappy and complaining.

We did not leave the resort to eat at SGR, as everything we heard and read said the food was so much better at SRP. We were never disappointed.

BEACHES
There are two beaches and we always called the west beach home. When we were there the resort was at capacity, so beach loungers filled up quickly. In order to be at a favorite spot, I did need to reserve them early. But I never saw anyone unable to find a spot. The beach butlers, Biggs and Cleon were fabulous, and really made our time on the beach special. Our hats off to both of them!

BUTLERS
This was our first experience with butlers, so we were unsure what to expect. But we had two outstanding butlers, Hector and Romaine, who truly made it their job to make our stay perfect in every way. By the end of the week, I considered them both our lifelong friends.

MANAGEMENT
Mark, the GM is truly extraordinary! He was always visible around the resort and stopped often just to check in on how our stay was going. He leads his staff by example and can often be seen jumping in to help when things get busy. His special touch of calling us after we returned home to check in is just one example of how he shines. I hope the Sandals organization know what a gem they have in this man.

CANDLELIGHT DINNER
We had a special private dinner on one of the piers. What a special night. The food was all of our favorites and the service by Delgardo impeccable. It is a memory we will never forget.

WOBBLEY PEA OCK PUB
This was such a fun meeting place. All of the bartenders are great. Sean, Richard and Frankie (Andre) really made our stay fun. Ask each bartender to make their specialty cocktail, they will not disappoint. My favorite was Frankie's Jamacan Smile. They all make them, but Frankie's are definitely the best!

We met some wonderful couples on our vacation we hope to see again. There are always opportunities to socialize when that is what you want.

We have already rebooked for a return trip in October 2014. I'm already counting down until then. This time we have booked for 10 nights...a week was just not enough,

My husband summed up our trip the best: this was our most satisfying ever. I can't wait to "come home."

Room Tip: We liked the west wing, as the views are more unconstructed. Try to be on a higher floor. The French...

This was my 5th visit to Jamaica & my husband's 4th. We do not normally visit the same resort twice but made an exception for the Royal Plantation as it was our 40th wedding anniversary & wanted a quality, relaxing holiday. It was even better than we remembered & the new manager Mark Starkey seems to inspire his staff to really work as a team. It was nice that he is a fellow Brit ( as we were in the minority!) but he is really hands on & interested in your experiences of the resort. We had no complaints about the restaurants or the accommodation which was on the 3rd floor of the West Wing. We did have a slight problem with a noise issue in our room but someone came to fix this within 30 minutes so good service here. We had previously stayed in the East Wing but again had a high floor room as we like nice views. We did try Kimonos at the Sandals Grande next door but found this to be noisy with everyone in the same room & just not the same ambience as at the Sandals Negril. Unfortunately we did not arrive at the resort until 11 pm due to our flight from London arriving 6 hrs. late but we were greeted by our butler Jermaine who seems to have an ever beaming smile & who had very kindly placed arranged cheese, biscuits & fruit in our room. He took our restaurant preferences which were then confirmed by our other butler Shelly Ann the following day. They are different personalities but really complement each other & work well together as a team. We never had any problems contacting either of them & found them both very professional & helpful with a 'can do' attitude. Jermaine also stayed on past his finishing time to hep us check in on line for our return flight which we really appreciated. It is a very relaxing resort with excellent local entertainment but things do quieten down after 10.30 apart from the pub. Particularly enjoyed the three troubadours as I call them who play at lunchtime. Many thanks to all the staff including Oral, Stephen, Kerri Anne & come back soon desk, Taniqua, Shanneil, Alex & Romaine the all singing, all dancing waiter! We also appreciated the efforts of the playmates Jason & Oshane & oh boy, can these guys dance! I also have to say what a fantastic job the gardeners do with the beautiful gardens. I would particularly mention Seaford here as he is such a gentleman & works very hard sweeping up leaves etc. even when it is raining so guests do not slip on them. He made a point of finding us in our 'hidey hole' at the lower end of the swimming pool before we left to bring us water coconuts which was a lovely gesture. By the way the pool is small but it is generally quiet which is what we prefer. We also like the fact that the West Beach is now non smoking but smokers can still use the East Beach. The one excursion we took was the rafting trip on the Martha Brae as my husband had not done this before although I had. I had previously had a Rastafarian guide us down the river who had been a mine of information but unfortunately this time our guide did not seem to have much local knowledge. The other party with us had a much more informative experience. Unfortunately I was taken ill halfway through our holiday but was speedily taken to the nurses room at the Sandals Grande to where a doctor was summoned. Hopefully this will never happen to u but it is reassuring to know that help can be speedily arranged. All in all we had a great time & would certainly return sometime in the future.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter. Request in advance.

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Plantation from 12/26/13 through 1/1/14. This was our second stay at this resort and we are planning to return in 2015. All staff members go out of their way to make sure their guests are happy. To acknowledge individual staff members in this review seems unfair because we felt all were outstanding. Our observation was that all staff members worked as a team. The location, service, food and accommodations are excellent. How anybody can complain about this resort is beyond us. It's hard to imagine that there can be an all inclusive resort better than Sandals Royal Plantation.
