“Best Spot on the Beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2011

Stayed for 6 nights at The Palms Resort, and the location is perfect, right on the beach. Stayed in the deluxe rooms, ask for the upstairs ones with the tall wooden ceiling. Room is basic, good bed, clean and with both A/C and a ceiling fan. Bathroom has been redone with basin sinks and wooden floor. Towels could use an upgrade, pretty basic and thin.
The restaurant and bar on the beach are the classiest looking on the beach in Negril. American architect owns and runs the place, and his artistic sense really shines through in the design of the deck and restaurant area. Classy and comfortable. Make sure to watch the sunset from the oversize couches facing the beach.
Staff is friendly and attentive, and the Jamaican breakfast of ackee and salt-fish is fantastic. Dinners are excellent, and the mojitos are great, even if both bar and restaurant are somewhat pricey. Beach can get crowded with buses of guests arriving during the day, but the staff makes sure hotel guests get the best spots.
If you prefer smaller, informal hotels to big, impersonal resorts, this is a great spot to relax and enjoy the perfect Negril beach

I was there in february 2011 and I want to tell you something about this hotel:

- after you come out of your room, go across the hotel restaurant, go some steps down and there you are - at the BEACH!
- great ROOMS with clean towels every day and a room SERVICE
- the PERSONAL is amazing!
they HELP you wherever they can and if they can't, they ASK somebody else for help.
they ask you often how you are and TAKE CARE of you.
they ask your name and DON'T FORGET it, every morning when you go to the beach
you see a HAPPY smiling face which asks you by your name how you are.
- the bar is great and the you get DELICIOUS cocktails

lying at the beach, listening to reggae music, having incredible people around you and relax -
WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT?!

You were definitely my right choice.
Thank you very much for the unforgettable time
TEAM of THE PALMS RESORT

– on 7 mile beach, close to the middle so there are lots of restaurants and vendors. Bar is overlooking ocean. They bus in people from Montego Bay, so the beach gets quite crowded. However, the staff is wonderful, particularly Sheldon, Ramsey, Ten-Ten, Melissa, and Anne-Marie. Having said that, they gave away our room! Yes, despite having given a deposit, booking 7 months ahead of time, and calling/emailing back and forth, when we arrived at 9pm, they had no room for us. It took them almost 2 hours to find us a place to stay. Anne Marie apologized the next day, with complimentary dinner and breakfast, and allowing us to use facilities all week, however, as we had done lots of research and chose to stay there, it was a real downer.

What a great spot. Much nicer than staying in Negril town by the cliffs. Right on 7mile beach this is a great alternative to the all-inclusives. The staff is super-friendly and helpful. They have free wifi across the entire hotel including the bar/restaurant area by the beach which is great for checking emails and looking for activities on your phone. The rooms are basic but very clean which AC and hot water. Would definitely recommend and happily come back if/when we visit Negril again.

Having been to Jamacia several times over the last few years the Palms Negril will be the only place I return. After a short stay in Montego Bay my wife and I packed up and headed to Negril on a whim. I was a bit apprehensive upon arrival, but warm friendly smiles at check-in washed away my fears. The deluxe room did not have much to offer but had just what we were looking for.....relaxation! Headed down to the courtyard, music playing, people milling about all in festive moods. Past the dining area and out onto one of the most beautiful streaches of beach on the planet (and I've seen plenty). Seven Mile Beach really has the white sands and crystal clear water straight off a postcard. This hotel is smack dab in the middle of the action. Filled with many shops and resturants and characters passing by. The food at the hotel(Christy's I think) was very good and presentaion memorable (so was the price) but the view was to die for. Ramsey was the best! Helped make our stay even better. The Palms Negil will earn it place in my book as my Tropical Beauty on the edge of the earth.

We will be back to stay longer.

We arrived on Feb. 2, 2011 at MBJ around 3 pm, ground transportation with JTL was booked through Orbitz. We were at the airport for almost 1/2 an hour after customs, I felt like JTL forgot about us, we arrived to the The Palms around 6pm to a power outage at the resort, so essentially we were sequestered to our room for a few hours. Dinners were expensive at this resort, lunch is reasonable and the BLT's are good, for breakfast I preferred to buy fresh fruit from local vendors on the beach. I usually travel at Christmas and bring a gift for the woman cleaning my room, even though it was well past I still brought the gift, which I think insulted the maid, a simple 'thank you' wasn't given, and the following day while I was on the balcony while she was cleaning my room she locked the patio doors and locked me out of my room. On our last day of maid service, no hand towels and no 2nd roll of tp. The location is on the 7 mile white sand beach and is a little slice of heaven, as far as going back to this resort I wouldn't but for the price I paid $1430 USD flight/hotel for 7 nights for two, and being able to escape the snowmaggedon in London, Ontario it was worth it.

In one word FANTASIC!!! We were lucky enough to stay at the The Palms just last week.. The rooms were exactly as stated on their web site.. Clean and simple but very comfortable. What makes this resort stand out is the the wonderful staff, that knows your name, caters to your every desire, and makes sure you feel safe, welcomed and very well taken care of.. From the staff that serves you the best food ever(french toast and fresh fruit over looking the ocean every morning), and wonderful drinks at the bar, to making sure you had a chair on the beach every morning with a fresh towel.. All of the staff knew our names, knew when we were leaving(thanks for all the hugs the last day) and even the gardner would stop and talk with us daily. We felt very much at home at this lovely resort. If you are looking for an upscale, stuffy resort dont stay here !! but if you want a comfortable, clean, pampered experience this is your place!!. Thanks to Ramsey and Wilson(who watched over resort and beach),Sam and Sheldon(who served wonderful drinks)Max(who made sure the coffee cups were alway full early in morning) Anna Marie(front desk who will make sure rides are available)Evette(who gives the best massage in the world)Rudy(who makes sure the grounds look wonderful and clean)Rodem(who made sure we had tasty meals)..Mr. Nelson(owner) you should be very proud of your hard working staff who made our stay in your little piece of "heaven" such a wonderful experience with wonderful memories... Only 340 days until we come back !! Thanks ...
