We stayed for one week and had a blast. A large variety of age groups. We took the orientation (recommend) and it gave us a chance to see where things were located and ask questions. Author was our guide and we loved him, he was great. Our room was Atrium Suite (2nd floor) and we liked it. No T.V. !! #2224 could see the beach and ocean. Our beverages were filled as requested and room kept very clean. The beach was the best!!!!! Tons of watersports & activities. Catamaran & glass Bottom boat were excellent excursions. The food and staff were great. We ate everywhere including twice t Feathers. All good!! The casino was a waste, most machines did not work. Gift shops had a good selection and were reasonable. W had a couples massage( well worth the cost). We visited Couples Negril & Swept Away was our preference!! Great trip & we plan to return.

Room Tip: We had atrium suite #2224 & the view was nice & no noise from the road. Sometime late a bit...

This was our first time in Jamaica, ever! In choosing this place, the reputation of a Couples Resort played heavily into the decision.. choosing Couples Swept Away (CSA) gave us an idillic, romantic, and lovely getaway to look forward to.
It is, indeed, different from other resorts we have ever been to in the Caribbean.
We selected the third week in July, simply amazing weather! Yes, it is hot, but you are in the tropics so, what would you expect? however, the rains do develop and by afternoon, it's refreshing and soothing..until the heat kicks back up after the rain.
The location is roughly 2 hours by car from Montego Bay International, the all inclusive package we had provided us with an airport transfer -> If you are tall like us, make sure to choose sitting anywhere but behind the driver, this is the most cramped seat in the bus.. All the buses are pretty much similar.
*BTW, if you are a first timer to Jamaica, please make sure you bring a black pen to fill out the Customs Jamaica form, you will be waiting a very, very, very long time to borrow one from the welcome counter folks!*
So, I am going to summarize the stay to give you an idea of what to expect, without giving you an influence:
-Remember, you are on VACATION. Have fun, slow down, breathe it all in!
-The receiving folks at CSA will provide you with the basic info needed, but don't hesitate to ask them questions if your ear isn't accustomed to the Jamaican speech.
-Expect to have some members of the staff treating you somewhat dismissive (I'm being kind here).
-The rooms do have A/C but it will not be on.. there's plantation style shutters along the outside walls with mosquito netting over them, which means the sounds and some fauna, plus the heat, will be present in your room.
-Remember, you're on VACATION.. and others are on vacation/holiday also.. their ideas of vacation may be different from yours.
-The Atrium rooms do have a pretty sweet hammock on the balcony, but be prepared, there isn't a TV in the room.
-You will walk.. and walk.. and walk. Anywhere within the resort you will walk, there's pathways linking every corner and building together.
-Remember the outside walls, with the open windows? If you have a major crossing of walkways next to your room, you will hear every single conversation, dropped baggage, laughter, cart with housekeeping, cart with room service, every single squeaky wheel on each cart.. but hey, between 6:30pm and 5:30am you will hear the most amazing concert of frogs surrounding your room!!
-The locals will try to get you to buy their products or services while on the beach.. although there is a security service on either end of the resort (they will ask you for your name and room number if you proceed beyond the boundaries of CSA), feel free to be firm and tell them "no thank you" repeatedly.
-If you have the pleasure to listen to a couple of singers on the beach, I'm going to recommend the following: A trio (sorry no name) featuring a banjo(!), a make shift bass box and a guitar.. the banjo player is one of the most animated people ever! and the second? ICEBLOCK, he is a fellow with a guitar, long locks, full black beard and sunglasses rimmed with bandaids.. his voice has a very sweet and distinct sound, like combining Aaron Neville and Tracy Chapman.. this man is the nicest, most humble person you will ever meet.
-Fellas, bring at least one pair of dressy pants with you, if you and the missus want to dine at Feathers Restaurant.. My Levi's jeans did not make the cut, luckily they had a pair for me to wear.
-The beach side palapa (thatched roof umbrellas) are not reserved, but I felt they provided with a limited view of your surroundings while laying out.. instead, follow the sun under the shade of the palm trees lining the beach, they are mature enough to give you plenty of head room to move around, without obstructing the views.
I hope you do choose to stay at CSA, at least once. It is a nice place to stay..

Room Tip: if you don't mind climbing stairs, after walking everywhere, go for a second/third floor room.

A group of 6 people set up their Ipod Stereo on the beach in front of the 2 story Beach Front rooms. It played very loudly all day, Security did not stop them, and they would have repeated this every day except that I personally had to ask them not to play their radio the next morning as they were setting up their "camp".
A couple up all night on their deck, in an adjacent building, Saying "F---" every other word and playing music with the same vocabulary, loudly. Called security, they did nothing. Had to personally ask them to keep it down and the reply was, "Chill the F--- out, this is Jamaica".
The beach front rooms have no television, a small clock radio and no glass windows, which we enjoyed very much in the past. How is it that people who want to enjoy the sounds of Jamaica, the ocean and the crickets, the people who stay in the beach front rooms for the serenity, have to put up with such rude stuff from people who think they are in a college dorm. We went to relax and ended up playing parents to a bunch of stupid people.
The workers were no better at night or in the morning. They talked loud, banged a lot of stuff around, whistled and talked a lot.
Bottom line is, if you want romance and to enjoy the sound of waves and nature, do not stay at this resort.
This was our third visit and sadly, this visit did not compare at all with the previous 2, which were wonderful.
We now call Swept Away, Carnival Cruises on land.
We will not recommend Swept Away to anyone we know, (unless they are in college and are going for Spring Break).

Room Tip: it is noisy everywhere, find a hotel that is more upscale if you want to hear the waves and nature.

Dear Margaret B,

Thank you for staying at Couples Swept Away and writing a review on your experience with us.

It is appalling to learn that other guests ruined your vacation by being noisy and unruly. Management should have been present to stop this from occurring. Please know that Couples Resorts does not tolerate this sort of behavior. I will advise our managers to do a better job of monitoring this.

Sorry that you had to endure this at our resort. Couples Swept Away will make persistent effort to eradicate this kind of disturbance. Any guests caught behaving like this will be asked to leave.

Sincerely,
Abraham Issa

First trip to Jamaica. Eight days from July 15-23. First of all, don't let anyone talk you out of travelling to Jamaica in July. It usually rains in the afternoon, or overcast, but still very nice temperature. Not too hot, or humid, like everyone assumes. Slightly cheaper rates over the summer. Prices for shopping, on average about 20% cheaper. Not busy, about 80% of capacity. Mostly honeymooners it seemed. Drinks were good and actually had some booze in them. Food was really good in Patois, Palms, and Lemongrass. Feathers was ok, but a little on the bland side. We ate twice at Lemongrass. I would suggest management upgrade the house red to something else, it wasn't good enough for a second glass. The white was ok. There was a movie night on the beach, which was cool. The beach party had great food and awesome entertainment, which included, trapeze acrobats, fire eater, juggler and contortionist. Oscar on the glass bottom boat was a hoot. Overall the staff was very friendly, especially if you take the time have a genuine conversation. For me the Jamaican people are the coolest cats on the planet, next to Canadians, of course;) Beautiful beach. We had alot of fun at the piano bar, could almost extend Ultimate Chocolate's time slot, though. Do not pass up the tour to YS Falls, it was the hi-light of our trip, Sheldon and Norman are top notch guides. We want to explore more of the Caribbean, first, but I am fairly certain we'll be back to Couples Swept Away!

Room Tip: 4313 is an ocean view room on the third floor, overlooking a koi pond with a pretty good view of the...

We had a great time in Jamaica. Sarah at Beach Bum Vacations helped us put it all together. I had used Sarah before for a trip we made to Cancun and both trips were easy and lots of fun!!

This all inclusive resort was for couples only and it included skiing, glass bottom boat, catamaran, scuba diving along with all food and drinks. Also included was Salsa dance class, hat and jewelry making, entertainment nightly and the beach is amazing!! The night before we left the resort provided entertainment on the beach with a huge bonfire. IF YOU MAKE THE HATS, REMEMBER YOU CAN NOT BRING PALM HATS INTO THE US. I learned that from a little beagle going thru customs.........

The cost of a taxi to go off the resort seemed a little extreme, but otherwise it was a great trip!!! I am sure I missed some activities, but check them out on line and give Sarah @ Beach Bum Vacation a call she does a great job!!! We are looking forward to our next trip!!

My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights last October. Our room was right on the beach. Amazing view with a beautiful beach. The size of this resort is intimidating at first, but we adapted and got into our rhythm. Staff could've definitely been more friendly for the most part. Water sports team was very helpful and friendly. The beach bar was always busy and would take a while for drinks. The room we stayed in should be updated. I know they are in the process of updating rooms. We heard the noisy sound of power Sanders all day, kind of took way a little of the peace and quiet. We would stay again if prices would ease up a little. Definitely liked the atmosphere of couples negril better.
