My wife and I traveled to Swept Away for our honeymoon and could not have been happier. We stayed in a garden veranda suite and though the room was a bit sparse having a couch and chair on the veranda more than made up for it.
The food was wonderful and the grounds are amazing.
The best part of the resort is the staff. They make a genuine effort to remember your name and go out of their way to be curtius and helpful.
We can't wait to go back next year to celebrate our anniversary.

We just came back from a week in paradise that is Couples Swept Away! When they say, this is the best all-inclusive it is TRUE!!!

We had great arrival on a Sunday with a prompt pickup from the Mo'bay airport...The ride is a little under two hours from Mo'bay to Negril due to traffic and road construction. They are in the process of expanding the highway which will take a good deal of time. Please remember to tip the driver and porter as they are living off the tips.

We reached the resort around 1:30 pm and they immediately had chilled champagne ready for us. We were escorted to our beach front room which was simply spectacular. Full view of the ocean, stocked mini-bar. Our porter gave us a good tour of the room. Be sure to know how to work the air-conditioner as it was hot right away. :-)

The rest of the vacation was just AWESOME!!!! Read for tips!

First tips, immediately book dinner at the Lotus Cafe and Feather right away as they fill up quickly. Also, book your snorkeling and catamaran in advance as they fill up quickly.

Other Notations:
1. Concierge is fantastic!!! They booked us a private car to the YS Falls which was much cheaper than the tour. $50 per person vs. $80 per person. Concierge also rescheduled our dinner on the beach at a last minute's notice. Ask for Andre Whyte, he is superb!
2. Food is out of this world. The dinner at Feathers is the best! Eat there at least twice.
3. Put a towel on beach chairs by at least 8 am to get the best spot or they are gone quickly.
4. Don't waste your time at Margaritaville. Too pricy and overhyped. You can walk there on the beach but not worth it.
5. Check out the cliff diving at Nic's cafe. Take a taxi from the resort.
6. On the catamaran cruise, you are allowed to swim right by the cliffs. It is spectacular so bring your trunks on this.
7. Try the Hobie Cat as it is really cool to sail on this.
8. Jet skis are not included so you will need to bring cash.

Some things that were wishful:
1. Toilet didn't work for about one day but they fixed that ASAP!
2. Snorkeling is only for about 30 minutes each trip but there are three different areas they can take you.
3. Scuba Lessons begin quite too early in the morning (8 am) but are started in the main pool.

This hotel had positive and negative aspects -- it just depends on what you're looking for. I've been all over the Carribean and stayed at a ton of all-inclusives.

BEACH
The beach is one of the prettiest I have ever seen. The sand is white and seaweed-free. The water was warm and bright blue. They also have great seating and floats available and the bar service is outstanding. However, there is limited shade as there are not many grass huts/umbrellas. It's a public beach, but there are tons of security guards and we felt very safe, even at night.

ROOMS
We upgraded to a Garden Veranda Suite so we could have a mini bar and a larger balcony. The rooms are a little worn, and I had them replace the lamp shades upon arrival (they were stained and disgusting). Our room was by the road so there was a ton of noise. If you want peace and quiet and a nicer room, upgrade to a second-floor beach suite. It was like $300 more, and we should have done it. We asked to upgrade when we arrived, but the resort was full.

FOOD/RESTAURANTS
The food was just ok. It was pretty bland. You have to make reservations at the two "gourmet" restaurants as soon as you arrive or else you either won't get in or will have to eat at 9:00 every night. Feathers was the best. Lemongrass was supposed to be Thai food, but it was the blandest Thai food I have ever tasted. The poolside grill was probably the best restaurant. If you are an epicurean, this hotel is not for you.

DRINKS
The coffee was outstanding. OUTSTANDING! And they pour a great drink. "Top shelf" as they advertise is more middle shelf.

SERVICE
The people for the most part are very friendly. The service is not a 5-star hotel. More 3 1/2. But we had no complaints with the staff. The entertainment staff basically only talks to people who have been to the resort more than once. There is also a special dinner or drinks for repeat customers.

ATMOSPHERE
Most of the people at the resort are on their honeymoons. So, if you are an "established" couple who travels extensively (like us), just know that there are a lot of younger couples there who may not have been to a beach resort before.

All-in-all, it was an ok trip. We wouldn't return to the resort as we've been to other ones in the Carribean that were nicer and the same amount. I would return to 7 mile beach. The beach was very, very nice.

Our trip was fantastic! I have been to all inclusives before, but this one far surpasses the others. The beach is wonderful (beach vendors are never a problem), the catamaran cruise is a must, and all of the food was great. Sometimes, all inclusive resorts have crummy food. Not the case here. Everything we ate was delicious and left you stuffed. Thank goodness for the huge fitness center. You get used to running on Jamaican time which is a little slower. I did not encounter one negative aspect of the whole trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our bellman even offered to put us up in his extra room at home if we wanted to stay a few extra days - he was joking, but what a nice offer.

I can't believe some of the other reviews that I have read. My husband and I had a wonderful experience and will be returning next year and the year after. Sign up for the Romance Rewards - lots of extras for return guests. Oh, don't overpack like we did. All we wore during the day was our swimsuits and coverups. You only need clothes for the night. Some people get pretty dressed up for dinner, etc. Bring a lot of sunscreen. Like all resorts, purchasing sunscreen and tanning oil at the hotel can get pretty expensive.

While the resort is beautiful and the people friendly, we experienced problems on arrival. The hotel has several different "room types" when you book. We choose the bungalows that were less hotel-room like and quieter. Well, upon arrival we were informed we had been "upgraded". This upgrade was to the hotel-like rooms that overlooked the road. We stated we preferred to stay in the rooms we booked, the atrium suites that overlooked the garden. Well after a lot of waiting and being told they may have to put us in one room and then move us during our stay...etc...we were put in an atrium room. Our friends who arrived a day later also had problems with their rooms. We then learned from people who go to this resort often this happens almost every year when they arrive. Then the biggest unfortunate event happened. We had a wall safe and because we were at an all-inclusive we places our passports, wallets, phones, etc. in the unit for the week. The night before we were to leave we entered the safe to find all our cash had been taken. We reported the incident to security and were informed an investigation would occur. Well, we of course left for home the next day and have never received any report or the insurance claim information the hotel promised to forward to us. I have sent them several emails and my husband has called Couples directly with no response. We did not expect to recover our cash but we did expect the hotel to contact us.

Thank you for your review I am very sorry to hear that you reported money stolen from your room safe while at our resort recently.

All rooms are fitted with electronic safes. Guests lock the door of the safe with their own unique code. Our bedroom doors also have require electronic key cards to enter.

Our Mr. Kerr, Chief Security officer, met you the day before your departure and has contacted you on two separate occasions since you left.

Mr. Kerr has advised me that he sees no evidence of theft or forcible break to your room, the room safe does not appear to be compromised.

I am very sorry and sincerely apologize that your room category booked was indeed over sold on your day of arrival. I regret that your upgraded room was not to your taste. All of our rooms face the ocean not the road.

I sincerely hope that your missing money will turn up with a logical explanation. I am so sorry that this has tarnished an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Kind regards.

To sum up, this resort was AMAZING. First of all, I loved how it was not one of those super-tall monstrosities that you see in Cancun or somewhere like that. The rooms were more bungalow-style, with just a couple grouped together, and everyone gets their own private back porch.

The food was great. It was a nice combo of American and Jamaican cuisine. You never had to eat the same things for any meal as there was always some variety. If you do like seafood though, this place cooks some amazing fish. The breakfasts were always great because they had whatever you could be in the mood for: eggs, omelets made to order, pancakes, danishes, some of the freshest fruit you'll ever have, and a variety of real Jamaican breakfast foods as well.

I stayed in one of the cheapest rooms and I was still so close to the beach. The beach and the water there are so beautiful. Even my friend's mom who travels all the time said that this resort had the most beautiful sand and water that she'd ever seen. Each beach chair had a raft on top so you could float out in the water or sit out in the sand. There were bars along the beach as well so you didn't have to travel far to get a drink.

I really loved how this resort sort of caters more to people 25ish and older so there weren't any loud frat boys puking or anything like that. I'm 28 and my friends and I were among the youngest people there. The atmosphere was very relaxed and mature, but not boring by any means.

After dark when the beaches were closed, there's a pool and two hot tubs, as well as a place that serves late-night type food (burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, etc) until 5am. And since it is a couples resort, most people go back to their rooms after dinner so those places were pretty much vacant.

I felt incredibly safe here. I know that Jamaica can be a dangerous place but Couples managed to keep unwanted people out while not making us feel like we were in Fort Knox.

There is a lot included with your room, not just food and drinks, but also snorkeling, a catamaran ride, water skiing, etc. A bunch of my friends took advantage of the skiing, and we all went on the catamaran which was really fun. The only thing we wound up paying out of pocket for was night-time snorkeling, which was really fun and different (and only $35).

It was just such an amazing place and all of my friends who came said they will be definitely going back. It's great if you're going with a wife/boyfriend/husband/girlfriend because the rooms are so secluded and you really feel cut off from everything. But going with friends was still a great time too. Amazing place.
