We booked CSA in January of 2010 for an escape from the New England weather in March 2010 and we were not in the least bit disappointed with anything. The only problem was that we didn't book a long enough trip! We stayed for 7 nights and wished we had booked 10! I always rely on TripAdvisor when booking my vacations and this is the second time I have booked a trip based on others reviews and absolutely loved my trip. This time, I thought I would write a review of my own in hopes that it will help someone else choose a fantastic vacation.
We were looking for a relaxing vacation with no worries or plans in advance. CSA had the perfect mix for us. We found the activities provided by the resort perfect and right up our alley, namely the daily Scuba Diving. We did go on two excursions outside of the resort and fully enjoyed both of them. Chukka Dune Buggies and Rhodes Hall Plantation Horse Back Riding.
The property at Swept Away is peaceful and romantic with lot's of winding pathways lit with twinkly lights at night. The beach has sugary sand and the water is a perfect 79 degrees. CSA keeps the beach immaculate and has excellent security keeping the "vendors" away from the guests. They are not allowed past the surf line and a simple no thanks sends them on their way. The green flag in the sand to signal you would like a beverage was probably my favorite service! I never did get my hands on those cold towels that come around but did enjoy the fruit kabobs. The beach and activities get a perfect score from me. On to the food and beverages.....We ate at all of the restaurants on the property and loved every single one! The service is excellent especially for the ladies. They actually understand how things are supposed to work down there! Love it! I read a couple of reviews that complained there wasn't enough food. I'll just clarify by saying that the meals are appropriately sized based on proper proportions and are fantastic. The food was wonderful and they really do have top shelf liquor. My only word of caution is in regards to housekeeping. You are given 4 towels each day and two are meant for the beach. If you like fresh towels or more than 1 each, then make sure to trade in your beach towels at the towel hut on the beach before heading back to your room. The resort is environmentally friendly and takes great strides to conserve water and energy. I applaud them for that.

All in all, I can't say enough positive things about Couples Swept Away! It is a definite bargain for what you pay and get in return. The staff is wonderful and I am anxious to book my next trip back soon!!!

This was our first foray into the world of all-inclusive resorts and we can't say we're disappointed. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly at all times, from the gardeners, chambermaids to the restaurant and concierge staff.

The location is beautiful. Having walked up and down a stretch of the infamous Negril beach we thought Couples Swept Away had one of the nicest sections of it. The beach was not too crowded but the only complaint would be that there were possibly not enough sun shades and you had to be up pretty early to claim the few shaded areas on the beach. That said, we never had trouble finding suitable loungers by the Great House pool with parasols to provide cover from the sun if needed. Similarly, we found the actual resort site preferable to what we could see of the competition. The various guest suite blocks aren't taller than 3 storeys and aren't jam-packed up against one another like some of the competition appears to be. The gardens were pleasant to walk through and very well maintained.

Food was top notch for the most part with very few complaints. We loved the Thai inspired reservation restaurant but were a bit disappointed with the French influenced one. It seemed to be offering slightly more than it delivered. The Patois Patio offers delicious Caribbean influenced dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the Palms restaurant offering a more mainstream buffet most of the time (you could still get the odd Caribbean gem such as Ackee Salt Fish or brown chicken stew at breakfast though). Seagrapes for lunch was by far our favourite and if you go here you must try the fish tacos. They were to die for.

We made it to the gym a few times and found the facilities to be more than adequate. Would recommend you go for a work out early in the day though as it's only a semi-covered building with no air-conditioning so made for an extremely hot work out if you went mid afternoon.

Would highly recommend YS falls trip. The Dunn's River Falls trip, which is 3 hours one way maybe more on the way back with all the road works and detours around Montego Bay, was enjoyable but not too picturesque when compared with the stunning YS Falls. Even YS Falls has to be a good 1.5 hours away but not too bad if you take in the Appleton Rum Factory tour afterwards as you'll probably need that time to sleep off the effects of the rum sampling.

If you're scanning the Tripadvisor reviews you'll notice the majority are from either American or Canadian authors so it should be of no surprise to find the resort inundated with folk from those parts. What did shock me was the amount that had travelled in groups as the name of the resort gave me the impression it would be a much more romantic and intimate affair. This isn't a criticism of the resort but if you are really looking for a quiet destination in Negril this isn't the place for you as the pool side and beach clientele by day were quite lively.

I would definitely consider a Couples Resort again if and when we return to Jamaica. It's a shame they don't have other resorts around the Caribbean like other major all-inclusive chains seem to.

Hello and thank you for your review of Couples Swept Away. We are thrilled you chose us for your first all inclusive vacation. I'm impressed at the travel you spent to visit us in Jamaica - thanks. In regard to groups at CSA, it is true that this particular resort tends to be popular with groups, but all groups are still couples only. CSA is also the largest of our 4 resorts, so it can accommodate groups a little easier. These tend to be wedding groups. In regard to lively beach and bars, CSA tends to have a little more lively bar and since it is the only couples resort with a true disco, folks like to enjoy it. Thanks for hitting on those fun features. We look forward to welcoming you home again soon.

We just returned from 4 nights at Couples Swept Away. My biggest complaint is that we didn't stay longer! The resort was better than we expected. We had an oceanfront verandah suite and it was fabulous! We could walk right out on the beach- excellent!
I was really surprised at how great the food was. It was excellent at all the restaurants and breakfast buffet. I've stayed at Sandals a few times, and the food at Couples blows Sandals away!
The resort was beautiful, but not in a Ritz/Four Seasons kind of way. It was gorgeous in a tropical, open-air, laid back kind of way. The grounds are very lush and its not a big high rise hotel- lots of little buildings which makes in feel like a much smaller resort than it really is. No problem getting beach chairs at all, but if you want a palm/umbrella thingy, you have to wake up early in the morning!
Fitness center is terrific! Limited equipment, but gets the job done! Great aerobics/spinning studio!
I would highly recommend Swept Away for a laid back, romantic getaway!

My husband and I spent a week at Couples Swept Away in Negril from March 14 to 21. We have travelled a lot in the Carribean and Europe as well as North America, but have never had such a wonderful experience as we did when we stayed here! After arriving at Montego Bay, we were met by a Couples representative and given a cool drink while we waited (10 minutes) for our shuttle.
We arrived at the resort to a cool glass of champagne and a very organized check in service. Our beach front room was ready and we were taken there immediately.
The resort itself is fabulous. The food, service, beach, watersports, gym facilities and staff are all the very best. I can't think of a single thing that I would have wanted differently.
Every day, you are met with the most pleasant, friendly, helpful staff. The only thing that was weird is that they will not take any tips. Even when offered, they would refuse. I really wanted to show my appreciation, and they were just happy to take the compliments that I gave them. At the end of the week, we filled out the questionnaire, and I made sure to name the staff that were outstanding that I could remember (there were many!)
All activities are included, so we did not spend any extra money there at all. Our room was fabulous, the food was the best we have ever had at an all inclusive, and the idea that all the people there were couples made the trip exceptional. We are already planning our trip for next year.
It truly was the very best week ever!

This was 3rd vaca to Jamaica, but our first to CSA. We loved it. We booked an Atrium room and was offered an upgrade which we declined. LOVED our open air room. The 2nd floor patio was large and roomy. We had a view of the ocean. I would not spend the money to be ocean front because they have less privacy with the foot traffic. This was the first AI trip for us where the food was quite good. A la carte breakfast excellent. Room service was delivered right on time as requested. Also, no kids, no drunk groups or singles yelling "woo-hoo" a nice perk. At that time we paid $3000 total for a week stay, including non-stop air and trip insurance. This trip was for total relaxation after months of stressful family illness and provided for fantastic stress relief. Would go again!

Hello and thank you for your review of Couples Swept Away. We are thrilled your first all inclusive experience was with Couples - it is truly an all inclusive product. I did want to mention to the readers that the atrium room does NOT have a television. So people either love it or want something else. Thanks again, we look forward to welcoming you home again soon.

I have never seen such a high class hotel where everything is perfect. Most meals are a la carte and the food is always great. Fresh towels 3 times a day in your room. Excursions included. Wet towels at your chair on the beach as well as fruit brochettes. Staff highly attentive to your needs, always smiling and they don't accept tips. Beach is clean and water is turquoise with no algues. Sand is white. Seven mile beach that you can walk. Security Gards on the beach. Reggae bands coming on the beach to entertain was really cool. Best vacation ever. Nothing to compare with Dominican resorts or resorts in Cuba or in the Mayan river. Hope to go back! Let's not forget the jerk chicken: a must ! So delicious!
