We are those type of travelers that go by the saying "you're holiday is what you make it"

This is a budget hotel. All the furniture is dated. We lost power from the late afternoon one day until the next morning.

But we were right on the beach, the staff was wonderful. Especially the maids! Wonderful ladies. And the beach was beautiful. The security gaurd was always on duty and the beach is kept very clean.

The beach vendors can get REALLY REALLY bad though. We were made extrememly uncomfortable on more than one occasion of our trip. If you go away from the front of your hotel, it can get a little rough. I really wish it wasn't like that. We're not 'hagglers' so taht kind of thing is NEVER fun for us, and the fact that people are so pushy really turned us off.

It's a pretty quiet, low key place at the end of May. We had a wonderful vacation, and a wonderful experience. Bring your own beach towels and any other amenities you may need. There's no blow dryers or any extra's you would get at a 5 star resort, and you're not paying for one.

Go to the falls - they're beautiful! Questions, no prob, message me anytime!

White Sands is just what i needed for a perfect holiday vacation. The staff is friendly and makes you feel comfortable, the other guests are great as well and make your stay feel like you are with a group of friends. The beach area is well maintained and there is lots of it whether you are looking for sun or shade and the daily drink specials served by Tony and Paul keep everyone happy. The rooms are nice and clean, I especially like the size of the Deluxe rooms and the deck area. However i really didn't spend much time in the the room as there is too much to do, see and enjoy on the beach, really only used the room at night. I have already booked for next year, hope to see you there!

You definitely should know that this is a low-key place and not fancy at all before you decide to stay there. Those familiar with all-inclusive places will probably be disappointed, simply because the standard of the place is not high and for travelers who don't care much about luxury accommodations.

The apartment we rented was very big and spacious. We had kitchen, dinning room, living room, bedroom, and bathroom. Five people could easily sleep there. The place had a feeling of a motel room from the 60s or 70s. The furniture was rather old, you saw the paint stripping here and there, and the decor was rather poor. The toilet had a rusty stain inside worth probably 10 years of not cleaning it properly. The apartment was not dirty though. The air conditioner was only in the bedroom and it was a bit too loud at night. We liked the little porch in front of the apartment with the table and chairs.

The apartment was located 15 seconds from the beach. The hotel beach was small, but there was plenty of room for the guests. The beach bar served cheap drinks, not the best quality. Breakfast and lunch available at the beach restaurant wasn't great either. We tried there the classic Jamaican breakfast and it was good. The rest of our meals we cooked in the fully equipped kitchen in our apartment.

Our neighbors had a beach towel and flip-flops stolen from their porch. We did not have any problems. Overall, if you want to rent a place in White Sands, picture yourself in a bit run-down motel 30 years ago and this way you will know what to expect.

Wow what a trip. The deluxe room at the White Sands was worth the price. During my trip i lost my money and had to have more wired to me and Francis offered to loan me money till i got my wire. WOW what customer service. The deluxe room D2 in the front near the beach has a slight beach view. The best time to visit is November/December for the dryer air and temperatures. The week was perfect.
My wife and i met a driver there licensed with the "RED" license plate that was such a pleasure to know. His van holds 7 comfortably and more if needed. His name is Harris and can be reached at 876-315-9937. He can pick you up at the airport and take you on wonderful tours. Tell him David Millar referred you. While you are in Negril tell him you would like to go to the lighthouse, then over to Rick's for an hour to watch the divers at sunset, then over to Sweet Spice restaurant for the best fried chicken you will ever taste. He did this for us and waited for us along the way for $40 bucks. Considering the time it was well worth it. What a wonderful person too.

I stayed 4 nights in early November 2008 at the White Sands. The White Sands is a small family run budget friendly facility located on the middle of the 7-mile beach. The location is ideal since there are numerous bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance. While I was at hotel, I reserved a room on the quiet garden side of the property. The bed was comfortable; the air conditioning worked well, the bathroom and shower were kept spotless. Every room had a little patio with a beautiful garden view of the grounds. The room had a refrigerator, which was handy for all of the Red Stripe beers. The resort has a small pool that is framed by beautiful flowers on the garden side. Although the rooms do not have television and phones, you may purchase an international phone card at the front desk for as little as $5 US dollars for 17 minutes to keep in touch. I believe that there are future plans to install television in all of the rooms. Private safes are located in the lobby and Francis, the hotel manager, is always willing to exchange currency at a favorable rate. If you want to get the best exchange rates, you can take a cab to the cambio at the Hilo-Supermarket in downtown Negril. The staff and the returning guests are what make this place so friendly and comfortable. I met couples and singles of all ages from different parts of the globe. Many of the patrons have been coming here for years and the hospitality of the staff is without doubt one of the many reasons why people return. Francis at the front desk is always helpful, Leon is a terrific host and driver, Paul and Tony will take care of you at the bar and the maids keep the accommodations immaculate. The security guys take their job seriously and can watch your possessions while you are at the beach. I cannot wait to visit Negril and stay at the White Sands next year. While in Negril, check out Xtabi for snorkeling and swimming, and take a cab ride to see the lighthouse on the West End. For breakfast, Selina’s has terrific banana pancakes, Blue Mountain coffee, and a live reggae band on Sunday. Sonia’ s has good ackee and salt fish and Kuyaba has one of the best settings on the beach. Cosmos has delicious conch soup and a fish dishes for reasonable prices. The Rockhouse is one of the finest places for an upscale meal and Best in the West can’t be beat for spicy jerk chicken.
