When I went to Negril, this hotel was rated # 3 on this web site; for the price, I thought "great". I don't have any nightmare stories, nothing terrible to say about this hotel and no complaints. But I don't understand what's so great about it. My husband & I are very low maintainence, so we didn't really expect or want anything special. Although no one was rude to us, no one was exceptionally nice, either. The beach side of the hotel looks like an old, rundown apartment building. The rooms were clean, but could use some upgrading. We felt really lonely, too. I think there was only 1 other couple there. We went in October of 2003 & the kitchen on the beach was closed and so was the pool. We didn't really mind this 'cause we'd mostly go elsewhere to eat & spend the day on the beach. If we ever go again, we'd probably stay at Kuyaba, it looked really nice & affordable and dinner was great there.

What a charming place to stay. I had one of the apartments which was very spacious, with a lovely kitchen, and living room. The hotel's guest services were excellent from currency exchanges, taxi's to and from the airport, and the cleaning service was great. The extremely helpful Management Staff pointed out the great reatraunts and attractions while offering all types of recreation from parasailing to sailboat cruises with snorkeling. The bar/cafe on the beach was the perfect place to watch the ocean from while having lunch or dinner. An exceptional hotel.

Stayed at White Sands April 8-12. It's not the Ritz-Carlton, but after a day, it really sarted to grow on us. Great location on the beach and a good beach area. Nice bartenders, good 2 for 1 specials. The cleaning staff did a great job of keeping the room tidy. White Sands is a "true Jamaican experience". Felt very safe, quiet. Will be going back, hopefully very soon!!!

After reading all the good comments about White Sands on the tripadvisor, we decided to go there for 10 days - it was really "Welcome to Paradise"! Perfect organised pick up from the airport, perfect deluxe-room close to the sea (near the road it would have been maybe a little bit noisy during night - Jamaicans like to drive quite fast!!:-), Rob at the bar, Mark at the beach, all the people at the reception........and the beach, so relaxing, the water so clean, the fishes out at the riff so colourful!! Some Jamaicans try to sell things, but with a "No, thanks" they leave you with yourself (at the beaches in Italy they are much more insistent) - go to breakfast to Alfred´s Ocean Place, get some fruits from some of the ladies along the beach, and don´t forget to get "2 for Specials" at the bar!! Maybe avoid the time of the US "Springbreak"..... we never expected to get such perfect days there!!

I recently went to Jamaica in March with a group of 11 girls. We stayed in the four bedroom villa which was unbelievable. The rooms were spacious and the villa was awesome. We had our own dining room/living area, our own kitchen, and even our own pool. The people at White Sands knew us all by name and made us feel at home. They were always available to help us in any and every way possible. The hotel and villa are right across the street from the beach and are located within walking distance from Negril's hottest spots. Some of us loved it so much, we're going back to visit in June!
