It's been over a year since my wife and I stayed at White Sands and we've been yearning to return ever since. I'm very surprised to hear some of the outrageous reviews that people have left regarding the White Sands. Listen, you get exactly what you pay for. White Sands will not break your bank so one can not expect to get the amenities of a top-notch hotel.
If you're in your late twenties/early thirties and are ready for some extreme beach-bumming than you simply can't beat White Sands. My wife and I did not intend to go fine-dining, make friends with locals or see ancient ruins........we were realistic. We brought our bathing suits, a bunch of books and magazines, our ipods and money for the beach bar. It's as simple as that. Yes the vendors can be annoying, but you simply have to say NO THANKS and walk away. The beach is absolutely beautiful. Our entire stay involved little more than plopping ourselves down in a beach chair, reading or listening to tunes for awhile, getting hot, going for a swim, getting out and buying a beer, and then returning to our chairs to continue the routine all over again. You can't beat that! Great drink specials at the bar and plenty of eateries in the vicinity to buy decent/cheap food. If you're looking for an all-inclusive/cookie-cutter resort than you're better off taking your family to Disneyland, AGAIN!!More
