we stayed at this hotel last May but realised that I had not added a review! We travelled as a party of 11 for a friends wedding which the hotel hosted. The wedding was wonderful and simple - the wedding co-ordinator did a wonderful job. May is the start of the rainy season so most afternoons it did cloud over and throw it down for an hour of so (even on the wedding day!!) but can't say it was ever a problem, we would just get under cover in one of the bars or go back to the room. My boyfriend even enjoyed being in the jacuzzi when it rained??!! The staff are very friendly at this resort and will always chat to you, take some $1 notes as they are FAB for tipping. The trips we went on were YS falls (ok), Dunns River falls and swimming with Dolphins (long journey but brilliant) and the rum factory (also brilliant). The food was good at this resort, we went to the al a carte most nights because it was the best. I think people need to realise that with all inclusive you're never going to get 5 star quality and piping hot food. But selection-wise, it's more than I would of had at home so no complaints. We had a few lunches over by the beach which was very tasty as it's cooked to order. Bit of a shame about the road separating the resort from the beach but really not a long walk at all. Be careful of wildlife, they all seem to be 10 times bigger abroad! A very large and green land crab appeared in the toilets by the pool one day which scared the absolute life out of me (could'nt use them again the whole holiday!) the rooms were fantastic - such a huge bed and the shower was amazing - you'll see why!! The daybed on the balcony was very relaxing but most of my time was spent in the pool bar ;) The grounds are beautiful and the staff do very well to keep it looking as it does. The gym facilities were basic but the salon and it's staff were very good. Opt for Dwaight when in need of a massage!
Overall the resort is simply beautiful, very intimate and natural. We had to sometimes amuse ourselves which was a shame, a pool table wouldn't go amiss for example. At the time I worked in a travel agent and we managed to get some day passes to the nearby Sandals and Beaches resort. These resorts were on another level compared to Sunset but I think that's all reflected in the price. I absolutely loved Negril and Jamaica on a whole (we're going to Cuba in January and hoping it's just as good!) Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Room Tip: If getting married out there, email the hotel beforehand, you may bag yourself a free upgrade!

We arrived on 4th October 2011. This resort is amazing, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. The staff were friendly and helped make our stay even better. Especially the likes of Kimi, Mel, Ian, Geofrey & Ruddy the dancing Chef. The tree house was awsome, the grounds beautiful & the beach fantastic. Can't wait to go back. Amanda & Terry

Where to start? From the moment we arrived we knew we were going to have a great time. The staff were amazing.... Shannon, Rory and O'Shane especially made our holiday one to never forget.
The room was fantastic and to be honest we didn't actually use the balcony at all while we were there. The maids came twice a day, once in the morning and then in the evening.
The food was great and there was plenty to chose from. We especially loved the burgers from the beach!
This is the first holiday we have been on that was not adults only and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We met some new friends who we will hopefully stay in contact with. Everyone knows you and says hello each time they see you!
The beach was lovely and although you get the locals trying to sell you things or sing to you, all you need to do is say no thankyou and they are fine.
We are already planning our trip back next year.

I arrived at Sunset at The palms on Sunday 25th September and stayed for 14 nights for my best friends wedding. Well what can I say...the hotel rooms and grounds are beautiful. The staff are amazing and can't do enough to make you feel welcome. From the reception staff to the gardeners I don't have a bad word to say about any of them. Nothing is too much trouble and any request that you may have is dealt with straight away wether that be to arrange a trip or to find out the best place to get a bottle of rum!!
there is a wide selection of great food available at the buffet restaurant - they even made some garlic bread especially for me one night then every night after that i was asked if i wanted more - and the A La Carte is a must!!
The wedding day itself was flawless - the staff were amazing and again nothing was too much trouble...the evening meal was out of this world...everyone at SATP made the day one to remember.
Just a few names to mention and if you see them when you go say hi - Alvin , Rory , Oshane , Squiggle (Kirk) , Tafari , Venroy and Rudy the dancing chef - you guys made it a holiday to remember with some fantastic memories!!
The only disappointment for me was having to come home!!
See you all in 2012!!!

We spent 5 nights at this resort with 2 other couples to celebrate our wedding and had the most fantastic time. The rooms, while basic, were very comfortable (AC worked fine) very intimate and romantic treehouse in the jungle. The staff was fantastic! The servers all pay attention to your needs and the next time they serve you they remember all your preferences. From the front desk to the housekeepers, there was NO request we had that they did not fulfill immediately---I truly have never experienced such attentive all-inclusive service, When my husband specifically ordered a certain rum several times (at several different places in the resort) a bottle of that rum magically appeared in our room. When members of our group wanted to go scuba diving, they not only arranged the trip (at a VERY reasonable price) but even transported their dive bags and equipment across the street to their beach where the boat picked them up. Having the beach across the street was no problem, in fact, with only their beach bar & grill on that piece of property, they were able to leave many trees on the beach for shade (unlike the larger resorts that are paved right up to the water.) Picnic tables make it comfortable to eat the fantastic food from the grill. Don't worry about the vendors on the beach. They are actually very respectful and understand the word "no". One of our favorite experiences was with "Rydell" (sorry if I spelled that wrong)--- he and his sons run the Glass Bottom Boat which is usually docked just north of the resort's beach by the Office of Nature where they grill the lobsters. For less than the cost of a taxi for the 6 of us, Rydell & his sons took us down to Rick's Cafe for sunset. The divers paused when our boat pulled up to Rick's private dock & helped us out of the boat---then put on a fantastic show! It's the best way to go to Rick's and we always felt safe with Rydell. We hired him another day to go out snorkeling, and again, for less than the watersports shops, he took us on a private tour under Bloody Bay! We all recommend him highly. If you are less than adventurous (or just want to be left alone) there is always hotel security on the beach, and the vendors know not to cross the invisible line onto the resort's property!
And, speaking of security, my husband ran into an armed guard hiding in the bushes when he went to look for coffee at 5AM (the only negative is food service is NOT 24-hrs)! There always seem to be security around (but not in your face) but we felt almost like we were in Disney World---always safe and well protected. Everyone in our group is ready to go back TODAY---but we're planning to make this our anniversary spot every year. Can't recommend it enough!

Room Tip: Rooms in the 400's are close to pool & restaurant but far enough away to be very quiet.

This review is long overdue and it's the first time I've felt compelled to write one about a hotel. The resort was not massive, staff was very friendly and the houses were nice and private.

The food and lounge areas were open which allowed us to enjoy the Jamaica environment and it was a true all-inclusive with food offerings in both the resort and outside grill and bar on the beach. The resort's beach was private for guests which was nice since we had our own person getting us chairs and making sure the beach was clean everyday.

The people at the resort (both staff and other vacationers) were extremely friendly and we met quite a few couples and got to know a lot of the staff. It was so much fun and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone!

My wife and I spent 7 nights at Sunset at The Palms and absolutely loved it. If you want a large, cookie-cutter resort with tons of activities this is not the place for you. If you want serene, lush beautiful grounds and a totally relaxing experience SATP is the way to go. Coffee Bar is a great treat, try a Rumaccino. Also want to give LOVE to Randy aka John Wayne-we read about him here and he was great, when he couldn't bring us home he arranged for us to get back from nightclubs at 2am (with specific instructions) great-trustworthy guy. Loved Walking The Beach on Bloody Bay (who needs 7 mile?)
