Me and my boyfriend stayed at SATP for 7 days. I have absolutely not one thing to complain about. From the second we arrived until we left we were in heaven. We were greeted by very friendly staff and every single person working there made us feel at home. We arrived early so our room wasn't quite ready. We were greeted with a cool towel and a refreshing drink. Then told to relax and change into our bathing suits and hit the beach which is exactly what we did. We went to the grill on the beach for seared red snapper and jerk chicken that was awesome! We ate lunch on the beach almost every day we were there.
Staff are always smiling and often singing. The Chef's table was to die for. The staff cooking there were very professional and upbeat. Our server was amazing and made it a point to check in with us each time he saw us afterwards to say hello and made sure he saw us before we left and hoped to see us again next year.
The food at the buffet was out of this world. Always a great selection with different themes daily. The staff are incredible and always ask how our day is going and if we needed anything. There is a ton to do on and off the resort. We met so many great people.
Our last night we ate off the resort at the Cliffs on the westside with an amazing couple we met and we couldn't be happier with the food and service there as well. Thanks Mike and Christie!
Garry a tour driver outside the resort took us all through the mountains and even introduced us to his family. He showed us what Jamaica is truly all about and we were so grateful to have had him recommended to us. We played domino's with some locals and drank ice cold red stripe. I would highly recommend Garry for any taxi or tour services you need. He asked us what we would like to see and was very informative of the island and the history. Very friendly and everything was "No problem". His rates are very reasonable especially for the amount of time he spent with us.
The beach is fantastic. The excursions are all very good and we only wish we had more time to explore the island.
Every day was better then the previous day. We truly found a Gem at SATP and it'll be very hard to go anywhere else.

The entertainment was good with steel bands, karaoke etc there is lots to do for free on the beach with water sports, swimming and vendors to purchase souvenirs.

I've read many many reviews of SATP before going and since returning and all I have to say to all the bug, food and service complainers is get a grip! These people would complain about anything anywhere they go in life. Do the rest of us a favor and stick to the massive cement resorts polluted with people and drunken teenagers.

This resort exceeded our expectations and then some. It's small and quiet and we will be back.

Yes there are a few bugs, if you're worried bring bug spray. We brought some but only needed it one evening.
The rooms are clean and spacious and the day bed and hammock outside most units are a very nice touch.

We truly loved every second and SATP have it 100% right. They know what they are doing there and in my opinion there is zero room for disappointment.

We will be back and we are already counting down the days.
Our trip included shuttle bus to and from the airport so there was no extra expense. And although tips are included these people work hard to make your stay amazing and tipping is very much appreciated however nobody ever looked for tips. They are what makes this place so wonderful.

We decided on SATP for our November 2013 honeymoon and had an amazing time. Everything was amazing! The drinks were strong. The food was flavorful. The staff was friendly and engaging. We had a small mosquito problem but it added to the authenticity of the trip. Just make sure to bring plenty of repellant. It was very easy to set up excursions and day trips. The beach was beautiful and not too crowded. There are vendors but just a simple and polite "no thank" and they do not bother you again. Totally worth every dime.

My husband and I just returned from our trip 2 days ago and it was great. The hotel is located at the beginning of where all the hotels begin. We arrived 1 hr early and had to wait til 3 pm for our room to be ready. We were greeted with a cool towel and a fruity drink which was delicious. The rooms were nice and we had a cute balcony a lounge chair and table. BRING BUG SPRAY!! I was bitten all over. My hubby didn't want to stay out long because he didn't want to get bitten. Don't leave your hotel door open either or they will come in and you'll be hiding under the blankets all night. Our room was in the 400's which was near the pool and bar. We could hear the daily band that plays at night but after 11pm or so it's pretty quiet. Only the woodpecker and lizards were loud. There's 4 restaurants: palms grove (buffet), beach grill (at the beach), chefs table ( need to RSVP), and lotus lead (need to RSVP). Would highly recommended Chefs table. Very fun experience. It's like you have your own private chef cooking their own dishes in front of you. Palm grove has a different theme every night. Our favorite was the Jamaican theme. We didn't to try the lotus leaf because it's only open on certain days. Be sure to check with the concierge. Also, you need to make RSVP for the restaurants with the concierge. It opens at 9 am sharp no earlier and they allow about 12 couples. The beach was nice and clean. It was across the street. The reason I gave 4 stars was because the hotel did not provide airport transfers. We arranged taxi service through rockys taxi which was probably $20 US cheaper than what's at the airport. Be prepared to spend most of your money on taxis and excursions. To the hotel from airport was $70 up to 4 ppl. We did have the hotel call a taxi for us when we went shopping and to ricks cafe but wished we had arranged with rocky instead. The taxi driver arranged by the hotel seemed to have connections with some of the ppl at the crafts market and felt like we were getting pressured to buy things. He also let one of the locals try to sell us a bracelet. Be careful! Don't let the locals try to put any items on you because they will ask for money after. After that we used rockys taxi to go everywhere. Price to get to ricks cafe and Times Square mall was $40 rt for 2 ppl. Overall we would return to this hotel again

My boyfriend and I returned from our stay at SATP on May 6th, we couldn't have asked for more! The resort grounds are beautiful, very lush and peaceful. It’s such a small and intimate resort that you wouldn’t even know it’s at full capacity.

The tree house rooms are fantastic and so different, we stayed in the 700’s at the back of the resort; it was closer to the road but we could barely hear anything. We had a very secluded area. The nightly entertainment from the sounds of the tree frogs, etc. was calming, who complains about this?!? Seriously people! We often enjoyed lounging on our day bed or sitting at our table on the porch enjoying a glass of wine after a day on the beach. The only small negative I have is that the air conditioning didn’t cool the entire room, the air never reached the bathroom which kept it very humid, especially after a shower; but this is minor.

The beach area is wonderful, SATP has the best beach on the entire bay; nice soft white sand and clear turquoise water. Couldn’t have asked for more! The food was also very good, small selection but this is expected at a small resort. We had everything from bbq chicken, glazed ham, turkey, authentic Jamaican food, etc., etc. Absolutely nothing to complain about!

The service was also top notch, regardless of tips being included in your cost we still tipped. What’s a few extra dollars to us for excellent service? If you can afford this vacation you can afford to give a little extra, it is always appreciated with further exemplary service! (Just a tip for you reading this).

For those who had negative reviews about the service, well these people are just nasty unpleasant people to begin with who expect the world at their feet. If you can’t get along with these people you are the problem! We loved our stay and would most definitely return to this resort! Just book already! Everything Irie! 

Room Tip: We had room 704 which looked out to the back of a big bamboo fence with trees and flowers. We had n...

We painstakingly searched every site and every property in Mobay,Ocho and Negril while planning our vacation in Jamaica. This was our sixth trip to this beautiful island and have been to other all inclusives there. We wanted "needed" a cozy low key get away to shut down for a week.Sunset at the palms looked like the place we were looking for. WOW! We couldn't have been more pleased. We previously stayed at properties on the beach at Bloody Bay so we knew the beach is world class. The Sunset staff kept it up beautifully. Great lunch at the grill and a full bar right on the beach.Bonus ! The resort area is truly like a botanical garden. After lunch on our first day we were so enamored by the grounds we wandered off instead of checking if our room was ready. After we were slightly lost we met Shorty the resident gardener . He answered all of our questions and pointed us back to the front desk. Our room had been updated with new AC , new water heater, new wood trim and windows. It felt brand new and there was no moldy smell that seems unavoidable in that climate. The pool and bar area were just right to relax or meet other guests if you chose to do so. A world class beach, extremely comfortable room, nice pool area. The last but not least focus of this review is the food and beverage. I hope you are still reading this Dwight because you have it absolutely perfected! Dwight the executive chef led by example and it showed in the teamwork and hospitable attitude that permeated through the staff. The consistency and quality of the food from the buffet through the chefs table were excellent. The Chefs Table, what a wonderful added delight. If you go to Sunset at the Palms do not miss out on this opportunity to experience the fusion of Island fare and classic cuisine. The star of the show is chef Raveion. He is passionate, focused ,and talented. This young man is an inspiration to a young Jamaican generation,he has shown that hard work equals great results.I have been a restaurant manager in Florida for 28 years and greatly appreciated the hard work by all of the F and B staff.

Room Tip: Maybe a room toward the back of the resort for a view of the Blue Mountain range., otherwise small e...

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Negril and loved our stay at Sunset at the Palms! The staff is amazing, the food is great, the rooms are good, and the beach is very nice! You can book everything you'd like to do right from the hotel (Zip lining, tubing, etc), and at the beach where there is a bar with great food and drinks there is also a place to book a variety of water sports (para-sailing, fishing, cliff jumping, etc). Honestly, I could see myself just relaxing on the beach for a week! The beach is clean and the staff is very friendly. The water is also warm which is nice! I'd recommend this place for all couples looking for a relaxing vacation! A few cons: Your room will not be ready until exactly at check-in which is 3. So if your plane lands early in Montego Bay and you arrive early at the resort (About 1.25 hour drive from the airport, which in and of itself is wild. The Jamaicans drive like mad men! lol) you'll have to just chill for a bit. They serve lunch, but honestly I'd recommend just arriving in water clothes and heading over to the beach while you wait! Another thing, at night the bugs are very loud which can be annoying the first few nights, but you actually get used to it. Other than that, we loved our stay!

We just returned from our first-ever resort vacation, so these are the observations of a novice. We spent six nights, all-inclusive at the Sunset at the Palms in Negril. It is an absolutely wonderful resort. The "tree house" rooms are quiet and secluded. We were disappointed at first to find that it is not beach-side, but came to love this feature throughout the vacation.

Let me start with the rooms - they are spacious and unique. Once you learn how to operate the a/c, it is very efficient. The cons - lighting! There are two low-watt bedside lamps, and low-watt lights in the bathroom and closet. Over the sink, there is at least some decent light. It was very, very dim in the room. HOOKS! There is no where to hang anything! There is a closet rod, but when you need to hang up your bathrobe, towels, wet swim wear, you have to drape them over every available surface.

We were pretty disappointed with the food, but that stems a lot from our unreasonable expectations. Being a tropical locale, we expected magnificent seafood, and it wasn't available. There is an Asian restaurant on-site that is only open a few nights a week, with four entrees - beef, chicken, goat and fish. The buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a different "theme" for each evening meal. The food and the presentations are limited in flavor and uninspired in presentation. The grill on the beach is an excellent choice for lunch.

As can be imagined with "all-inclusive", the liquor was free-flowing. The guys drank lots of Red Stripe beer and us girls sampled nearly every rum-inspired drink imaginable.

The pool and hot tub with the swim-up bar facilities are very relaxing after a long day at the beach or on a tour.

Which brings me to the subject of tours - there are many choices. The tour company you booked through will sit you down (telling you it's required) and try to sell you tours. The hotel has a tour desk, and the taxis out front will offer tours. There are different water tour offerings available on the beach. Not knowing any better, we booked through our tour company (Apple). Big mistake - we were gone 11 hours (a wasted day in paradise!), spent about an hour each at three different destinations (Black River, YS Falls and the Appleton Rum Factory). The rest of the time is driving on very, very rough roads. We returned grouchy, hungry and exhausted. A better choice would have been to choose one of the taxi tour offerings. We heard this from many, many experienced vacationers.

Recommendations: Bring your own insulated cups for the beach. They are available for $12 in the gift shop, but get them on sale in the states. The drinks are very small and hardly last the time it takes to return to your lounger. Also, bring floaties. They also are available in the gift shop for $13, but when you can get them on sale in the states for $3, just pack them then leave them for other guests on your return. The same is true for any beach toys that you might want - frisbees, beach balls, etc.

The people ARE wonderful! Always seeking to please and waiting on you hand and foot. We booked an "all inclusive" that said it included tipping. But after learning that the average wage is $10 per DAY, with people like the pool boys making much less, we TIPPED.

We will definitely book again, probably at this same resort.

Room Tip: Try to get toward the back of the resort - it's much quieter.
