“Relaxation Plus!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Sunset at the Palms caters to a crowd that is looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation. There's still plenty to do with water sports, the gym and one of the best beaches in the Carribean. The food is fabulous and plentiful and you can drink the water! The uniqueness of this resort is the tree house accomodation surrounded by beautiful gardens. With only 85 rooms, the resort is casual and tranquil and more importantly, there are no line ups. The staff are friendly and helpful. Be prepared for longer trips on excursions but going to the south end of the island gives a better perspective of Jamaican life. We highly recommend this resort if you want a vacation to relax.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 200-300 series are close to the restaurants but towards the back of the resort away fro...

Sunset at the Palms is like an oasis in a desert. We have been guests at different resorts here on the island, but not one can compete with the comfort, variety and quality of food, the ambiance and the tranquility and peace you experience at the Palms. The beach is beautiful with all the comforts (bar, washrooms, food, entertainment, lounge chairs etc.) right there. Accommodations are cabins built in a rainforest environment with variety of native flowers and trees. Inside, the cabins are tastefully decorated with everything you would expect at home. The food is scrumptious and plentiful (gained 5 lbs.) All in all, it was a heavenly experience and we would recommend it without hesitation especially to newlyweds.

Sunset at the Palms is the best all inclusive hotel we've stayed in. The gardens and atmosphere are beautiful, the rooms tastefully decorated and clean, the food good with plenty of choice. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful. The resort's beach is stunning, but a little too built up touristy for our taste.

I would strongly recommend venturing out of your resort and experiencing the REAL JAMAICA. Candyman tours made our holiday unforgettable - we saw so much of the island with him and already thinking of coming back to see more!! He will stop where ever you like and tells you so much about Jamaican life.

Rocklands Bird Sanctuary was our favourite trip with Candymam- hummingbirds land on your hands! Also, if you want to chill with locals on a real Jamaican beach away from the tourists and big hotels ask him to take you to Little Bay and Brighton Beach. YS Falls is also stunning when it's not too busy.

To get in touch with Candyman ask one of the hotel receptionists or security to give him a call. He is also often parked outside Sunset at the Palms on the roadside.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road and far from the kitchen area - the beeping of the ice machine wo...

After a very long journey due to be delayed with Virgin at Gatwick airport, we arrived to be greeted with a nice cold drink and a very helpful chap, we were so tired but he soon made us feel better, it was just after midnight but we were able to have some food made for us, which was a godsend! The beach is across the road but there are the crossing patrol staff to assist you, its only a five minute walk so no biggie, and perhaps needed to walk off the fabulous food.
The food from breakfast to evening meal were plentiful and I would say there was something to suit everyone. We ate in the Lotus Leaf a number of times and the food was always superb. You had to book in the morning for this one. The rooms were lovely and clean, the house keeping staff were great, as were all the staff in fact. There were many returners and you can see why, in fact we were looking to book to go away at Christmas again this year, and looked at a lot of places, but decided to return to Sunset at the Palms.
The food at the beach bar is really good too from the fish to the sandwiches. We have stayed at Sandals hotels before, but the Sunset at the Palms for us was better than that.
We visited Ricks Café, you cant go to Negril and not visit there, though the jumping in wasn't for us, we were happy to watch the professionals and other tourists ! There is no charge to go in but you are asked to pop money into a bucket for the cliff divers.
We hired a taxi from outside, from Gary, he charged us the same as the bus trip but we didn't have to stop off at the markets for shopping. Gary also arranged to take us to nine mile where Bob Marley was born and is buried, the Thomas Cook leaflet that we picked up said it was a half day trip, but we learned it was over a 3 hour drive just to get there, we negotiated a good price with Gary, on the morning of the trip he arrived but said he had a problem with his vehicle, but he had got his friend to take us instead, we had a great day out.
Christmas day lunch was spent at the office of nature on the beach, we had fresh lobster, in garlic butter, rice & beans & bread, (cooked by Dynamite), washed down with a couple of red stripes, best Christmas Day lunch ever! The lobster was $30 each which you certainly cant grumble about.
If you are thinking of booking this hotel, please do so I am sure you wont be disappointed .

Room Tip: We asked for a quieter room, based on a couple of reviews, we had room 617 and were very pleased wit...

Love the food, people and environment. The bartender Krit was entertaining and the other staff from bell boy to Cheif was amazing. A paradise that you need to see. The rooms were great and the amenities were awesome.

We stayed at Sunset At The Palms, Negril early May 2014 for 2 weeks. This is a fantastic hotel. The Tree Houses are amazing set in beautiful tropical gardens. We were in 409 which was very private. The room was very spacious and clean. Walk in jet shower was great. One of the best hotels in Jamaica. Small but very friendly. All the staff are very efficient and very friendly they do a great job.The food was superb plenty of choice, something to suit everybody's taste.

We have been to Jamaica before but this was the best hotel. We went for a relaxing holiday so did not venture far this time. We have done all the trips previously. We did visit Ric's Cafe to watch the sun go down which is well worth a visit. Be careful if you are thinking of jumping of the cliffs. A friend of ours jumped and ended up with serious injuries. Think twice about it?

The beach is a short walk across the road but is very beautiful. The only downside is that there are not enough Sun Shades. I think there are only four. More needed. Would recommend a trip on the Glass Bottom Boat to snorkel at the reef. We went with Captain Marshall he is very knowledgeable about the reef and the different fish. I have not snorkeled before but he was a first class instructor. His boat is moored to the right hand side of the beach usually where the vendors stalls start. Just ask for Captain Marshall everybody knows him.

Hope to return to Sunset at the Palms again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 400's are great.

What an experience! It was even better than we had hoped. The rooms were big and comfortable. The showers had 3 different types of water flow that were fun to play with! Oh and a huge draw for me was the water was drinkable!!!! No bottles necessary!!! The buffets were large and full of foods for those with an adventurous palate and those a with less adventurous one. The hotel offered a bit of a night life, but we never experienced it because we were too tired from our days at the beach and exploring the island. The best part of that is even though the resort was small and intimate, we never heard the noise from the evening fun either. Overall, it was a super time and we are highly recommending that our friends and family try to get to Jamaica at least once in their lifetime too!

Room Tip: We were in the "100s" and it was very close to the spa, pool, bar and everything. But, we...
