Probably one of the best nature walks that I've been on in Jamaica. It's just sooo beautiful and the guide was very knowledgeable about birds and local flora. It's well worth a visit while you're on vacation in Negril.

Had a nice quite day viewing wildlife and plants. Sat down with the caretaker and had a beer and enjoyed his yarns. Dipped a rod into the water and caught a fish.

This place has now closed but visited here about four years ago. Nice to walk through the forest though did not spot any alligators!

The reserve is technicallty closed, but we were able to negotiate admittance and a guide for our walk on the boardwalk through the preserve and up a viewing tower.
Our guide looked like just a guy maybe cutting the grass or something, but in fact was extremely knowledgeable of all the flora and fauna and their habits and habitat, including the Latin names. Made for a wonderful experience we would not have had just walking through.
The resident crocodiles had been relocated from their lake to free habitat, which was a disappointment.
But plants and birds and insects abound, including the majestic Royal Palms.

It's technically shut but you can still go round and a huge part of the local nature, wild animals and weird plants. The staff will happily give you a detailed guided tour. Your guide wil even know the Latin names.
