Nice hotel, clean rooms. Foods we brought in. Only J$100 to hot places, but you can also get there by walking on the beach. Friendly staff. Fridge for only US8,- for 5 days!

I have stayed at Foote Prints 5 times over a 4 year period, and although there is a need to refurbish the bar area. the hotel still has the same family atmosphere which I look for on holiday ( a home from home with spectacular views).

Where else in the world could you be on the beach within 10 steps (after paying only £24.00 per night) . The staff are fantastic and even planted a special garden for my birthday (if you are staying in room F3 look out on Elaine's garden) they will help you and support you on your holidays without taking advantage.

Most people I have met at Footprints are return visitors which also says a lot about the facilities. it is not 5 star (not even 3) but after walking along the beach through the imaginary wall which is the AI, I feel the hotel can offer so much more, you can meet the locals, engage in local culture ( walk along the beach towards Booby Car and meet Narnie a local Rasta who is possibly the "truest" person you will ever meet in Negril or anywhere. " on an evening we played dominoes and provided our own drinks at the bar, no pressure and typical of Jamaica it was "no problem".

The area also provides a plethora of local restaurants, which provide far superior food to the AI hotels. Look for the places that the locals use. Cool spot is really good (straight over the road from foote prints).

Finally and not least, on your arrival you will meet Micheal, he will look after all your needs as he covers the security and the maintenence within the hotel (a wonderful person , much respect)!

Not forgetting Andy (LOL) as much a part of the hotel as the bricks and mortar. Once seen never forgotten. Was such as MASSIVE part and always is during my stay at the hotel (see you soon)

Great familly hotel, no frills, no pretence just bloody good facilities at reasonable rates. love you and will keep coming back if things stay the same ( but could do with painting the bar)

Best location on the beach and good value for money. Staff very friendly and made us feel part of the family. Small size meant the staff looked out for your safety, especially Andi (the fixer).Local people very friendly too: look out for Narnie a rasta who is cool. Also Sharon gives the best massage and hair weaves. Did not feel at all unsafe or hassled.
Part of the hotel could be updated but I didnt go to Jamaica to sit in a hotel room.
Highly recommend it if you enjoy meeting locals, eating out in small restaurents and getting a feel for the real jamaica.

I recently experienced my first trip to Jamaica. My trip was a 4 night guys getaway on a budget. We chose Foote Prints for the price. We were a little worried after reading some reviews. You must realize that you are not paying for The Ritz so don't expect it. We wanted a clean, safe room near the beach and that is what we got. Cleanliness of our room was important. We were more than happy with the exceptional work the maids did. The second day, they even changed the beadspread along with the sheets! The hotel staff were the friendliest I've met in all my travels. Mareshah at the front desk went out of her way to make sure our stay was enjoyable and minor problems were corrected. She made us feel like we were friends.
The beach is beautiful and a very short walk. There are plenty of lounge chairs. We ate most of our meals across the street at "Cool Spot" - good food and reasonably priced. There are many places to eat on the beach if atmosphere is important. Great location - if you are facing the ocean - Go to the left you will run into many locals and shops, some great bars to grab a cold one, while walking, remember to say "No Thanks" and you will be OK. If you go to the right it is mostly resorts - for a more private walk.
Tip - Bring shampoo, toothpaste, hair dryer, wash cloth, sunscreen. If you need toiletries/sunscreen, there is a mini mart across the street. Convert your money to Jamaican currency. You will save money! Don't forget to tip!

I went with another friend. We stayed from March 22-26th. From the start we were pleasantly surprised to get an upgraded room overlooking the beach. This was the best view(thanks Moorisha). I don't know about other people, but when I vacation I just use the room to sleep in. I don't spend a lot of time in their. The room served it's purpose well. I can also comment on the maid service. I was surprised to see the maid srubbing the shower on her hands an knees. The floors were mopped and the beds were changed. The hotel is conveniently located right across the street from a restaurant and food mart. The locals were friendly. See Sonny for boat rides or fishing. Also see Leo for buying gifts. Just ask and you should have no problem finding them. The beach was awesome. Turkoise water and very clean beach.

Call it the old "BAIT AND SWITCH." Stayed there four years ago and it was okay, mainly because I know half of Negril after 15 years of vacationing there 2 times a year, however, the management is apparently pocketing most of the revenue and as such, the hotel is now officially a DUMP. I got stuck in a room not fit for slaves, garbage cans washed outside, TONS of noise in early AM, and "snitch" employees who cater to the owners' delusions about their service. Requesting and confirming an upper room means nothing, trying to get a different room requires the patience of JOB, you are constantly besieged by spa workers to help them pay for their room on the premises (not their fault, but the owners'), menu items often unavailable, no steady bartender. DO NOT STAY THERE, go to Sea Splash or Coco la Palm where service is outstanding as are the beautifully appointed rooms. Foote Prints is the armpit of Negril.

If you desire a more authentic experience in Jamaican Foote Prints is the place to stay, the staff is, friendly, they can include breakfast in your rate. There are plenty of options around on the beach or in Negril for dining options. The cool spot across the street is a taste of real Jamaican cuisine and significantly cheaper prices for food than the beach. We had a few issues with our room but none the less were addressed right away with a smile! On the beach there are plenty options for activities.

  • Liked — The people
  • Disliked — some issues with room, its a small family owned establishment and work always being done.
