Although the rooms would not satisfy someone expecting the standards of an American luxury resort, we found the beds comfortable, the rooms clean, and the outdoor amenities very nice. The manager/head cook, Terry and her staff were very accomodating, and her cooking stood out as some of the best of any where we ate in Negril. Always made from scratch, Ackee fruit and saltfish for breakfast, delicious stir fries, jerk chicken, anything we asked for, she could prepare. The resort's driver, Chris was a great tour guide to show us around many of the islands attractions, from the YS Falls, swimming in the Black River with the gators, climbing up the oldest light houses, touring the gargantuan mansions in the hills, and giving us his list of favorite places to visit, and what to avoid.
The resort had excellent security, unobtrusive but always present.
The resort is perched on beautiful cliffs, with a good view of the seven mile stretch of pristine beach that Negril is famous for just 1/2mile away. It was great to hang out on the sunning platforms on the cliffs, jump in and snorkel along the reef, and climb out to grab a steady stream of Red Stripe or Pina Coladas. The small pool was well maintained. The outdoor dining area was very comfortable at all times.
All the resorts are located on a crazy narrow road, and most people take cheap cab rides to get to the main drag of the beach, but my wife and I got used to walking up and down the road, secure that the drivers were able to look out for us. Some of the best clubs along the strip of resorts on the cliffs were incredible for watching sunsets. The resort was a stone's throw from some of the most well know eating spots in Negril, and about a mile down the road from Rick's, one of the most well known bars in the world, famous for it's cliff divers.
We found the Jamaicans very friendly, and they understand that tourism is vital to their economy, and go out of their way to make sure that you have a good experience. It's a shame that the all inclusive resorts discourage guests from getting out to experience the local flavor of the small restaurants and roadside bars, coffeeshops, etc.
The beach was stunning, perfect sand, and a restaurant or bar about every 10 yards. Great people watching, musicians, and water so blue it hurt your eyes. One of the best beaches I've ever seen and it was the same for 7 miles, all open to the public to walk uninhibited.
We will go back to Negril and use Home Sweet Home resort again.

The last time we stayed here was in January 2008 and we had such a great time. This last trip we found the place to be even better. We found the updates that the new owners made to be cool and calm just like that area of Negril. Gone is the turquoise and bright blue, it’s now soft white and dark hardwood - very Tommy Bahama feeling! We were considering trying one of the other West End hotels and were so glad we didn't. This is really a home away from home. The staff there HSH is amazing. Terry Ann, who ran the restaurant last year has been promoted to the Manager of the resort and is doing a great job. Chris, who does transfers to and from the airport as well as day trips, is the best driver on the island by far. One day Chris took us to YS Falls for the day...what a place! We highly recommend taking a trip there if you haven’t yet. Kerri Ann, is the new restaurant manager and made sure we had hot Blue Mountain coffee and the very best breakfast on our private veranda each morning. The Pool and Jacuzzi were very clean and worked quite well for us on the few days that the seas were too rough to swim. While we were there, we had a chance to meet Mike and Mark who just took over the resort a few months ago - these guys "get it". Thanks to everyone at HSH for making our annual Jamaican vacation so special.

- mattresses were horrible and dirty
- bathrooms need serious upgrade
- those are the two important aspects
of a quality hotel, good night sleep and a
clean bathroom!

It took a day day or two to slow down and get adjusted to Jamaica time, but eventually we did. Our room number 12 had a spectacular view of the ocean. There was a bit of work going on at the property (room makeovers), which our room hadn't been through as of our stay. It didn't matter though as the view made up for it. If they can polish up a few of the other rough edges, this could be a first class Inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all of our wishes and desires. Terry the manager and chef was awesome and we wished that we would have stayed in for dinner at least one night...we definitely will on our return to HSH in the future. Just another note: the Inn is located up the road from the "beach" in what is known as the "west end". This is a much more desirable location to the busy high traffic beach area. Stay at the cliffs of the west end and go to the beach during the day.

we arrived tired and grouchy from an awful flight down, but after a good nights sleep and time to appreciate all that was around us we fell in love with home sweet home. terry took care of us very well and boy can she cook, only place i have been asked how i want my dinner created, dinner is worth coming back for. this is not the trendy cookie cutter big chain hotel with every ammenity known to man, if you need that you should go somewhere else(save this place for those of us who can appreciate it). if you are looking for a smaller hotel on the cliffs with very personal attention, this is it. yes there are newer more updated superhotels, but this is the place for the less touristy escape from the busy-ness of the beach. wake up to hear the ocean crashing on the cliffs, walk down and swim or snorkle in the ocean. wander the west end checking out the views and enjoying the people and come home for the best meal you will have in negril. wifi if you need it, great views, pool, location and service. had a great time.
