Eight days at The Spa Retreat. The name says it all, a spa for return to health and sanity; as well as a retreat from worries and cares of your 'other' life. While I say spa I do not mean a spartan environment with people suffering from withdrawal from the 'good' things to enjoy. If you want a smoothie made from local fruits just ask - either at the open air tiki bar or from one of the roaming staff members who will be happy to bring something to the pool or your lounge. If your wants lean to alcohol you came to the right spot; while it seems trite, they make a real Mojito, the rum and grapefruit soda "stingray" is refreshing and Richie's as yet unnamed new drink is to die for.
To the retreat part of the name, you really can retreat there. Peace just relaxing outside by the pool, perhaps in a canvas shade cabana. The adventure begins when and if you want it, we went to the caves with Famous Vincent as well as out to the reef. We horseback rode at Rhodes Plantation, all set up by Spa Staff; the balance of the time was mostly spent on site.
I can not do much more than repeat what others have said and in agreement. Probably the most enjoyable part of the stay was the staff, everyone was so genuinely friendly and helpful. You will not go wrong picking the Spa Retreat as others have done.

Room Tip: Any room is really nice, rooms not close to the bar are quieter.

Thank you for your review. We are happy to learn that The SPA Retreat Boutique Hotel offered the perfect blend of relaxation and fun! One of the best times of the day for our SPA team is at sunset, chatting and getting to know our guest as you enjoy a variety of cocktails sitting by our cliff side bar. Until next time, one love.

My wife and I were recently able to squeeze in a last-minute trip to one of our favorite places in the world, Negril, Jamaica. We'd never stayed at the SPA Retreat before but, based on TripAdvisor reviews, decided to give it a shot.

We're really, really glad we did. Everyone connected with this hotel, from the waitstaff to the owner, is professional, courteous, and cordial. We stayed one night in a Garden room, and than, when a Seaside room became available, we're upgraded at no extra charge. Additionally, a minor incident we brought to the staff's attention was handled above and beyond what we expected.

The SPA Retreat really takes care of its guests and makes them feel welcomed. We can't wait to go back!

Just spent 3 nights here in November. After reading the reviews, we were not disappointed. The spaces were new, very clean. The service was fantastic and the staff really went out of there way to assist. The bartenders make killer cocktails and the food is pretty good.

However, it definitely is "sleepy" (good or bad depending on how you look at it). The clientele skews older and outside of limited on property snorkeling, there isn't much else to do so you need to get off property (we rented a scooter and it worked out great).

Given we had the freedom to roam around, we spent a good portion of our time at the Rockhouse which, if we would go back to Negril, would choose to stay there.

Again, SPA Retreat is amazing but if you're posting up on property, may want to find another spot.

Thank you for your review, we appreciate feedback as it is always an opportunity to improve our guest's experience! We are thrilled that you were pleased with our well kept grounds and personable team! The SPA Family aims to provide a serene oasis for those who wish to unwind and find solace from the hustle and bustle from their day to day lives. While we do recognize the peaceful nature of our property there are a number of entertaining activities available to guests such as Caribbean Cooking Classes with our Blue Mahoe Restaurant Chefs and Glass Bottom Boat rides with the well renowned Vincent. Our Front Desk is also available to make arrangements for scuba diving, sailing, jet skiing & fishing available right from our beach deck! We do hope to show you a good time again upon your return to Negril and until then one love!

I am still at the Spa Retreat but we are having such a wonderful time I wanted to let others know. This place is outstanding! A quiet small resort designed for adults wanted to wind down, it has service that rivals Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. Tacita is the GM who checks you in. She also comes by once or twice a day to say hello. She remembers every guests name.Dwayne is the bartender who makes sure everyone has what they need. Marcia is friendly at breakfast and Delroy waited on us all 3 nights. You dont want to leave this place to eat elsewhere, the food and service are unmatched! Enjoyed Danisa's massage and reflexology from Peter. Cool island breeze keeps you cool as you soak up the rays. Rosa the dog trots about the resort and makes you feel at home. Beds are perfect-have never slept this good or long while on a vacation (the wine Delroy poured us may have contributed to that!) We are scheduled to leave today to go to Iberostar in Montego Bay and we have spent our whole time here trying to figure out a way to cancel that reservation and stay here the whole time! Only minor negatives (to illustrate this is an honest review!) is they need a better ice machine here and the drive from airport is 90 minutes. Nevertheless, the drive is well worth it! The Spa Retreat is the best resort we have visited in the past 30 years! We will be back again and again! Hurry to visit this gem, pretty soon the owners are going to figure out they can charge $600 for these rooms instead of the current rate of $200.Dwayne and Delroy, until the next time, keep the Red Stripe chilled and the Ciroc on the top shelf! Cant wait till we return!

Room Tip: poolside casitas offer better view of ocean but there is more shade and room in the garden casitas j...

Thank you for your review. I find it hard to describe how honored and humbled we are by your kind words. Our team most definitely enjoyed having you as guests and only wish you could have found a way to stay and enjoy our cliff side oasis just a little while longer! However, this only means one thing, a quick return! Soon come!

I just spend a week at the spa retreat and it was just what the doctor ordered. It provided the tranquility we were looking for but at the same time, we had so much fun. The food was delicious and the staff went completely out of their way to ensure all of our needs were met. I would go again in a heartbeat.

From the moment we arrived, my fiancé & I were treated like royalty at the SPA Retreat! It was our first trip to Jamaica, and we had kind of randomly chosen the SPA based on some great reviews and it's location at the beginning of the cliffs. We couldn't have been happier with our choice! Heather at the front desk made us feel right at home immediately, giving us a tour of the beautiful grounds as she led us to our room, with personal introductions to all the staff and owners along the way. We were only there for a very short stay, but the entire time we felt so catered to in every way! The rooms were clean & quiet, the pool was beautiful, and you could snorkel right off the cliffs on the grounds. The restaurant, Blu Mahoe, had a very cool vibe to it, and everything we ate was completely delicious! Most of all, I cannot speak highly enough about the entire staff—the owners were super friendly, the bartenders Monique and Tyrone were very attentive and Delroy, our waiter, was so sweet! They all knew us by name and were always available for anything we needed. And, my favorite may have been Rosa—the owner's dog who joined us for cliff diving! Negril is beautiful all around, but the SPA made our experience so romantic, peaceful and just perfect! I only wish we had had a longer stay—but we will definitely be back!
