We were a little nervous upon landing at the airport and looking for the private driver The Caves were supposed to send. Finally, after about 10 minutes, we found him. "Mr. Bond" was our personal driver that took us to the Caves. When we arrived at the Caves Resort, we were pleasantly surprised when we drove through the gate. We were immediately given lunch, shown around the grounds and taken to our room (Blue Hole). We thought it was lovely and we had just enough privacy. We were glad to have a room with an air conditioner to cool off at night. The bed was amazing! (Wished I could take it home.) The food was equally amazing! We tried everything! We really enjoyed the relaxed family atmosphere of the Caves. The staff were wonderful (Shernett & Fiona, Hugh, Ian and Randall, Enid and Elizabeth). We had a terrific couples massage that was relaxing. The water was a little too rough if you aren't a good swimmer. However, I still enjoyed snorkeling while holding on to the ladder and see a few small fish :) Overall, it was a fantastic few days of relaxation!

We stayed here in Nov '11 after my husband and I renewed our vows in Negril at another resort. I will forever compare any top of the line service to The Caves to see how they stand up. The employees were absolutely wonderful (Paul is awesome). We stayed in the MoonShadow with two bedrooms and an outside shower. It was a first for me to shower outside and I loved it!!! This place is soooo secluded that they only time we saw other guests was around feeding times :) This place is well worth the cost!!!! The food was fabulous (I worked in fine dining in New Orleans for years and I have to give them props for their food). Don't forget to make reservations for the cave dinners as soon as you get there. Also Michelle and Michelle give the best massages!

Room Tip: The website has a map of their rooms, all are nice and pretty secluded. The MoonShadow is a secluded...

The Caves is just that - Natural Beauty - ya'mon. Everything from the cliff formations to the genuinely wonderful staff members make this intimate resort a pleasure to relax. My friend and I stayed compliments of Aveda (my friend fortunatley had enough points for the stay). I read all reviews before going and was still skeptical there was no way any one place can be sooo great. Well, all reviews are very accurate. I will be planning another vacation so my husband can experience total relaxation.

My first thought was "ah what a bummer, no beach to hang out and run into the water". After staying at The Caves, I now realize that the beach is overrated. Sun basking on the side of a cliff is where it's at!! And jumping into the ocean is much more exhilirating than running in.

The food was excellent. Drinks were perfect, even non-alcoholic drinks were great. The lemonade was wonderful. Rooms were beach rustic, that is the only way I can describe them. But you really never stay in your room until you need to sleep. I love the intimate setting and that there are only 12 huts. It is like staying at a quaint bed and breakfast but with the ability to jump off a 30' cliff into pristine blue water - AWESOME.

Oh yea, I do have to mention Paul. He is a Jamaican treasure! Paul is your snorkel/aquatic guide at The Caves. He is patient, friendly and caring and a joy to snorkel with.

We were told by very close friends to entertain this resort for our honeymoon, well after reviewing many resorts in the Negril area and what they offered, our choice could not have been any better, the perfect spot to spend a honeymoon! The entire staff was above and beyond what we ever expected, the food, well this was the best part for us. The chefs were on point with integrating great local fare from curried goat to a seafood stew that you could smell cooking for at least 6hrs. Rooms were very clean and the nightly turn-down was fantastic! Paul is the guy you want to know, snorkeling, kayaking, cliff diving... ect... This resort only houses 11 other couples, it is small, intimate, beautiful, and quite. From the moment we arrived, it is a place where you can mingled with other guest but still have private intimate time with your husband or wife. We met many great couples during our stay and We will defiantly be back here, often! Thank You for a memory that we will never forget!!

My husband and I stayed here about a month ago. Like other reviewers, we were lucky enough to score the visit through Aveda's loyalty program. We stayed in the Sea Turtle, which has a lovely view of the sea from the bed, and a nice patio area in front. The staff was all very friendly, especially Paul the lifeguard and the waistaff in the breakfast & dinner areas. We each had a spa treatment on our first day, which was REALLY nice - the spa is open-air so we could hear the waves and enjoy the breeze. The meals were all very good - one day we had a sort of cookout with Jerk chicken, which was exactly what I had been waiting for. The Caves is truly all-inclusive - all alcohol is included. We had a bottle of red wine on the counter in our room, along with bottles of rum and vodka. The fridge was stocked with bottled water, Red Stripe and a bottle of white wine. All the activities (snorkeling, kayaking, etc.) were also included. Sadly, we couldn't take advantage of any of them as the waves were ferocious and we weren't allowed in the water. That was the only downside to the trip. The weather was sunny and hot, but since we were not allowed in the water due to the waves, our only option for cooling off was the small pool. But truthfully, that was a minor issue. We loved the Caves - it's truly beautiful. Highlight of our trip was a candlelight dinner under the stars for just the two of us (our dinner in the cave was also cancelled due to the waves). We didn't know it when we booked the trip, but it ended up being our Baby Moon. We enjoyed it at the Caves - we recommend it and would go back.

Room Tip: The Sea Turtle was great - we really liked the view of the sea - when we opened the louvered windows...

My friend and I spent Memorial Day Weekend at The Caves, courtesy of Aveda points. We had a wonderful time. The food was outstanding - no lie. Every meal was fantastic. The people are some of the most delightful and friendly you will ever meet. The water is crystal clear and full of beautiful fish to see with, or without a mask. I highly recommend you go snorkeling with Paul. And even if you are afraid of heights - like I am - just jump in. It's fun and invigorating. Don't wait, book your trip and be prepared to relax and have a fantastic time. And order a dirty banana!

Room Tip: If you stay in the Blue Hole, you will fall asleep to the sounds of the waves!

First of all let’s just put this out there – wow, amazing, fabulous, friendly, incredible. So, yes, we liked it.

We traveled to Jamaica in late April. When we arrived in Montego Bay there was some confusion as to where our transportation was, but after a bit of a wait the gentleman named Dean (if you can, request him to be your driver – he’s great) arrived and we were off! Yes, the drive took a while; however Dean broke it up with a brief stop at a mango stand where we had the most delicious mango ever grown. Seriously. If you’re on the island in late April eat the mango.

When we arrived at the resort we were treated to a cocktail, cool towel, and asked if we would like anything to eat. Once all of that was settled we were shown around the resort. “Awe inspiring” hardly describes its location. Once the tour was finished we were shown to our room. We had requested the Butterfly room and got it! This suite has unhindered views of the water. There were two issues we did have with the room, though. One was that the water pressure cut off the first night while my wife was in the shower. We called the front desk and the problem was remedied within 10 minutes. So no big deal. The other little issue was traffic noise early in the morning. It wasn’t too terribly bad; however we were woken up most mornings by a horn or two honking.

Now, just about everyone out here mentions Paul. He’s fantastic! We snorkeled with him almost every day of our trip and I went kayaking with him on our last day. While snorkeling we saw an octopus, lobster, thousands of immature gar fish, flounder, sting rays, sponges, star fish, brain and fan coral, sea urchins, lion fish, scorpion fish, eels, and brilliantly colored small tropical fish. Every day we were in the water we saw something different. We had our camera with us and Paul dove down and took some great pictures for us when, well, we just kept bobbing back up. Please take note here – you have to climb up a vertical ladder to get out of the water. No gentle slopes up to a sandy beach here! It isn’t hard, but just something to be aware of.

One day we had a cave massage (located in Cave 2). Our masseuses were Enid and Elizabeth. Having a massage in the cave with the sound of the waves coming in and out was so soothing. Truly exceptional. Our cave dinner was also served in this cave and it is much bigger than Cave 1. Speaking of the cave dinner – it was neat, but fairly warm. It was still worth doing it, and we’re not sure how Zum (our server) kept making it down the steps with our food without either falling or spilling anything.

Speaking of food – WOW!! We never had a bad meal. The desserts weren’t all that great, but who cares when you have everything else! Most lunches and dinners we got the combo, so we had a little of each dish offered. The curry goat was really good – which we were a little hesitant about, but now we don’t know why. For breakfast – definitely try the Jamaican breakfast – akee and saltfish. The fruit platter was also tremendous and was slightly different each morning. We never had a bad meal.

The rum bar wasn’t always open; however if you and some other guests wanted to open it up, that was never a problem. We met with several other guests down there and hooked up an iPod and hung out. Good times.

I jumped off every cliff (33, 30, 20, and 10 foot cliffs)– multiple times. Plus took the jump into the Blue Hole (with Paul to guide of course). Just be careful when you jump in. It’s only 8 feet deep. And no swimming at night! It’s the only rule at the Caves.

To wrap this thing up, we want to mention some of the staffers. Honestly it’s like family when you’re there. We have never been around a group workers as friendly, hard working, and laid back (yet effective) as those at the Caves. Brian, Duke (who we booked with and he answered all of our many questions), Glenn, Zum, Randy, Randall, Karen, Paul and so many many more. If we are able to go back they will be part of the reason why.

Room Tip: You can request your room. 2 of the rooms do not have AC, so if that's important to you ask abou...

The Caves sits along the limestone cliffs of the West End of Negril, right next to the famous Negril Lighthouse in Jamaica. Although situated only a few miles away from the bustling town center, this private enclave is a world apart. Eleven handcrafted wood and stone thatched-roof cottages, plus a 4-bedroom fully self-contained luxury villa, are interwoven between ten acres of lush vegetation and naturally formed volcanic caves. Quaint stone pathways wind through the limestone cliffs dotted with palm, sea grape and dogwood trees overlooking the Caribbean Sea. An arrangement of coral stairs and walkways lead to sundecks with uninterrupted views of the sea and sky, and grottos with turquoise water pools and fossilized marine life. A tropical reef system comes right up to the edge of the cliff, perfect for snorkeling. Guests can climb down ladders into the sea or take a leap from several “jump points,” the highest of which is 30 feet!
